Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a silicone foam control agent and it containing compositions.
In many aqueous systems, e.g. B. in food manufacture, textile dyeing, paper manufacture, waste water treatment treatment and cleaning procedures are used surfactants, either as an undesirable ingredient or as consciously introduced material to achieve any a function, available. Because of the presence of this Surface active agents are often used to create foam. With certain ten applications, e.g. B. when washing dishes by hand this is a welcome effect, but for other uses foam development can lead to unsatisfactory results to lead. This is e.g. B. the case when dyeing textiles or in the manufacture of paper. In other applications, e.g. B. the use of detergent compositions for washing of laundry, the foam generation must be controlled instead of ver be avoided. It is important to keep foaming on one maintain acceptable levels, especially when washing in an automatic washing machine of the front load type. Excessive foam would spill the wash liquor onto the Cause soil as well as decrease in effectiveness the washing process itself.
Foam control agents are known in the industry and have been e.g. B. in high-performance washing powder for use in automati washing machines. Silicone foam control agent are considered very effective for this application because they can be added in very small amounts and z. B. not be affected by the hardness of the water, while conventional foam control compositions such. B. Soaps, a certain hardness of water for their effectiveness require.
The detergent industry is currently experiencing an important development lung, due to environmental considerations and efforts To save energy, move towards using Deter gene compositions takes place at lower washing temperature also work. One way that this is achieved is the increase in the surfactant content in the detergent composition. Anionic surfactant Agents are particularly preferred. Unfortunately generate these surfactants usually have more foam as z. B. Nonionic surfactants. Because silicon Foam control agent does not directly affect the detergency of a detergent gene composition, it is desirable that Addition content of such a foam control agent on a Keep minimum. A need has arisen, therefore improved foam control agent for incorporation into a Develop detergent composition.
Silicone foam control agents containing branched siloxanes, are known. EP patent specification 02 17 501 describes a Foam control agent in which a liquid siloxane component is obtained by 100 parts by weight of a polydiorganosi loxans with triorganosiloxane end groups, 10 to 125 parts of one Polydiorganosiloxane with at least one terminal silanol group and at least 40 silicon atoms and 0.5 to 10 parts an organopolysiloxane resin that is monofunctional and tetrafunctional siloxane units in a ratio of Contains 0.5: 1 to 1.2: 1 and at least one silanol group per Molecule has to be mixed and then heated. In the description states that the amount of resin which is used to obtain a liquid polymer under Avoiding a gel structure that must be checked. This indicates that some degree of branching in the Siloxane component of the foam control agent occurs. Even though Foam control agent according to EP 02 17 501 in many applications perform well there is an advanced search for improved foam control agents.
European patent application 02 73 448 discloses one foam suppressing composition that is produced by radical polymerization of polydiorganosiloxane, silicon oxide, a silicone oil with functional vinyl side chains and a radical polymerization initiator such as benzoyl peroxide. These Reaction is carried out at an elevated temperature, but not it can be guaranteed that the reaction is safe. It is also difficult to control this reaction. In the European application 02 73 448 it is necessary that the highly viscous reaction product with a polysiloxane with low ger viscosity is diluted to an effective anti-foaming to form product.
The present invention provides a foam control agent that represents an improvement over the silicone foam con Trollmittel of EP 02 17 501 in terms of its effectiveness. The procedure is also safer than that for the manufacturer position of the silicone antifoam from EP 02 73 448 ver is applied. It is not a dilution of a reaction product required to formulate a finished foam control agent ren. This is important because it is a costly and time consuming Process step in the production of an end product avoids.
The present invention also differs significantly of that described in the prior art. The reagents that used are very different from those of EP 02 17 501 and although a vinyl functional siloxane is used, as is the case with the European application 02 73 448, is used in the present invention instead of a silicone oil functional vinyl side chains with a polydiorganosiloxane Vinyl end groups used. Other differences between the present invention and that set forth in EP 02 73 448 Invention are the selection of the second reagent and the Catalyst. During EP 02 73 448 a radical polymer tion initiator such as benzoyl peroxide is used Crosslinking in the present invention with an organohydro gensiloxane in the presence of a noble metal catalyst.
The use of hydrosilylation is not new in itself the production of a foam control agent. U.S. Patent No. 47 41 861 discloses a silicon based antifoam composition which among other ingredients a diorganopolysiloxane that provided both ends of the molecule with vinyl diorganosilyl end groups is and a diorganopolysiloxane, which has on both ends of the molecule Diorganosilyl end groups is included. The two types of diorganopolysiloxane in the presence of a platinum ver bond implemented, which provides a polymer with high viscosity due to the chain extension. There is no indication in the State of the art that the production of a branched Polydiorganosiloxane by hydrosilylation to a verbes sten foam control agent could result.

A wash cycle with Prewash and main wash (95 ° C) was carried out under Use one batch at a time commercially available Washing powder in which no foam control agent was present, each for prewash and main wash.
Each batch of detergent consisted of 100 g of a high-foaming Washing powder, which is a linear alkyl sulfonate, alkyldimethyl amine oxide, silicate, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium perborate and Sodium sulfate and a foam control agent, which according to Example I had included.
