Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a fuel supply system for a Internal combustion engine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
From DE-OS 41 20 279 is a fuel supply system known in the evaporated fuel gas from a single force is disposed of. For this purpose, the fuel gas is in a Adsorption device stored and during normal drive of the internal combustion engine metered into the intake line of the Internal combustion engine initiated, the injection quantity liquid fuel is reduced during this time. For Generation of additional gaseous fuel during the Operation of the internal combustion engine are also various Evaporators known by the supply of thermal energy and / or generate fuel gas by applying a negative pressure gene.
The invention has for its object a fuel supply system to create with the using the usual liquid fuel ensures a safe cold start, the raw emission of the internal combustion engine in the warm-up phase reduced and the pollutant emissions of the internal combustion engine is reduced overall.
This task is achieved in a generic device by the characteristic features of claim 1 solved.
To reduce the environmental impact of an internal combustion engine emitted amount of pollutant is in addition to improving the Ab gas aftertreatment elements also a reduction in raw emissions sion necessary. Especially during the warm-up phase of the kiln engine in which the efficiency of this aftertreatment elements is still low due to the low temperature, is a reduction in the emission of gaseous unburned Hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides required. A One way to achieve this goal is to use it low-boiling fuels. In addition to an external Supply of such special fuel, but very on would be agile and expensive, there is still the possibility of being inside easily volatile fuel components from half of the motor vehicle to separate conventional fuels. Because this is easy volatile fuel components available immediately after starting it is advantageous to use this in normal operation to generate the internal combustion engine and in a storage container caching. In addition, when refueling or Fuel vapors generated in the fuel tank are also in the storage container are directed.
There is also the possibility of the volatile Condensing fuel components again and the liquid ones Fuel then through the already existing injection device injected into the suction line. This allows a additional metering device for the fuel gas is dispensed with will.

Fig. 1 shows a cylinder head 1 of an internal combustion engine not shown Darge, in which a piston 2 is movable GE leads. Between the piston 2 and the cylinder head 1 , a combustion chamber 3 is formed, in which, controlled by an inlet valve 4 , a fuel-air mixture is supplied via an intake line 5 . The amount of intake air is adjusted by a throttle valve 6 arranged in the intake line 5 . After the mixture combustion, the exhaust gas, controlled by an exhaust valve 7 , is discharged via an exhaust pipe 8 .
In normal operation of the internal combustion engine, liquid fuel is fed from a fuel tank 9 via a fuel line 10 to an injection valve 11 and metered into the intake line 5 . In the fuel line 10 there is also an evaporator 12 , in which volatile fuel components are separated from the liquid fuel. The separated fuel gas is fed via a supply line 13 to a storage container 14 and stored there. The storage container 14 is also connected via a disposal line 15 to the fuel tank 9 and via a line 16 to the intake line 5 of the internal combustion engine. A control unit 17 is provided to control the fuel supply system. On the one hand, the control unit 17 regulates the supply of thermal energy and / or the negative pressure in the evaporator 12 and thus the amount of the fuel gas supplied to the storage container 14 . On the other hand, the control unit 17 controls the supply of liquid fuel to the injection valve 11 via a control valve 18 arranged in the fuel line 10 and the amount of the fuel gas introduced into the intake line 5 via a metering valve 19 arranged in the line 16 .
In Fig. 2 it is shown how the control unit 17 controls the control valve 18 and the metering valve 19 as a function of loading operating parameters. After the start of the internal combustion engine, the control valve 18 is open and the metering valve 19 is closed. In block 20 it is first checked whether the engine speed n is less than a predetermined idling speed n L. If this is the case, then jump back to the start via block 21 . If, on the other hand, the start phase has ended in block 20 and the idling speed n L has been reached, it is checked in block 22 whether the coolant temperature T is equal to or greater than a predetermined warm-up temperature T W. If this is the case, then jump back to the start via block 21 . However, if the coolant temperature T is lower than the warm-up temperature T W , the control valve 18 is closed in block 23 , the metering valve 19 is opened and then jumped back to the start. This state remains until the coolant temperature T reaches the warm-up value T W in block 23 and thus branches to block 21 , where the control valve 18 is opened again and the metering valve 19 is closed again.
This means that the internal combustion engine is operated with liquid fuel after starting to safely ramp up to idling speed n L. In addition, the internal combustion engine is operated with liquid fuel even when the warm-up temperature T W is reached or exceeded , that is to say also during a hot start. The operation with the fuel gas from the storage container 14 thus takes place only during the warm-up phase, that is, after reaching the idling speed n L , but below the warm-up temperature T W. For this purpose, the control valve 18 is closed and thus the supply of liquid fuel to the injection valve 11 is interrupted. At the same time, the metering valve 19 is opened so far that a predetermined air-fuel ratio is reached.
In Fig. 3, the same parts as in Fig. 1 are identified by the same reference numerals. In contrast to Fig. 1, a device 24 for condensing the gaseous and volatile fuel components is inte grated in the storage container 14 . The fuel collected in the condensation device 24 is then led via the line 16 and the metering valve 19 to the injection valve 11 and injected into the intake line 5 . The fuel injection thus takes place in al known operating conditions in a known manner by an injection valve 11 . Only the supply of the injection valve 11 with low-boiling or higher-boiling liquid fuel is controlled by the control unit 17 by adjusting the control valve 18 and the metering valve 19 as a function of operating parameters. To simplify the arrangement, however, it is also conceivable to control the supply of the injection valve 11 with suitable fuel by means of a common multi-way valve which is controlled by the control device 17 . The use of two liquid fuel components with different boiling points offers the advantage over the first exemplary embodiment that an additional metering device for gaseous fuel can be dispensed with.
In both exemplary embodiments, the reduction and the redistribution of raw emissions over time can result in a reduction in the total amount of pollutants released to the environment. During the warm-up phase, where the exhaust aftertreatment elements still work insufficiently, the volatile fuel components are burned and thus a lower raw emission is emitted. In particular, this can considerably reduce hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions. The more volatile fuel components remaining during evaporation are then burned during normal operation of the internal combustion engine. This results in a slightly higher raw emission compared to conventional fuel. However, this can be reduced again by the exhaust gas aftertreatment elements, which work optimally under the temperatures prevailing in normal operation, so that overall a significantly lower pollutant emission is to be expected. In addition, all fuel vapors generated during refueling or in the fuel tank 9 can be conducted into the storage container 14 , so that a separate disposal device for the fuel vapors is not required.
