Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for determination of track and camber of axles of the wheels of a chassis, taking characteristic areas of the wheels with television cameras be recorded and from the images of the television cameras the relative position of the axes to the television cameras is determined by calculation, and on a device for Implementation of such a procedure. Can track and fall with a chassis optically or mechanically be determined. Here are procedures where mirrors can be mounted on the wheels to deflect light rays still classified as mechanical. Are optical in this sense only procedures where the position of the wheels and hence their axes on the way of image processing is determined. Such optical methods are advantageous especially in the production of motor vehicles can be used since they are neither the creation of probes nor the Installation of mirrors on the wheels require. The device rather, the procedure can be carried out with a Distance to the wheels must be arranged, the one free Access to the motor vehicles guaranteed from all sides.
A method of the type described in the opening paragraph is known from the DE-OS 29 48 573 known. This is from a television camera a circumferential line of the rim per wheel is recorded. Dependent from the relative position of the wheel to the television camera this perimeter appears in the images from the television camera as an ellipse. The absolute and relative values of the Major axis diameters of this ellipse contain information from which the relative position of the wheel and thus its Can calculate axis exactly. However, it turns out that with a conventional, approximately 500 by 700 pixels television camera having the shape and size of the ellipse cannot be recorded with the necessary resolution. track and camber of the axles of the undercarriage must be much narrower Tolerances can be determined. Furthermore go to the known methods of roundness of the circumferential lines of the rims as well as asymmetrical arrangements of the wheels to the axles the determination of toe and camber without this Influences are separable.
Another method of determining toe and camber Axles of the wheels of a chassis is from EP-OS 2 80 941 known. Here, light levels are created at various points projected onto the wheels. Each projection is made by one TV camera at an angle to the corresponding one Light plane recorded. The image of the television camera contains such a line, the outer limit of the wheel at one Cut through the wheel in the direction of the light plane. The location of one can be calculated determine the characteristic point of this line, the one characteristic range of the wheel corresponds. Finding the characteristic point for all cutting lines enables the arithmetic representation of the wheel from which again the relative position of its axis to the TV camera results. The analysis of the cut lines is to cope with, however, only with an enormous amount of computing and almost impossible to do in real time. In addition, that a variety of light levels can be projected onto each wheel must to the relative position of its axis with the necessary To quantify accuracy. So that is the apparatus Expenditure for the known method is extremely high. In addition, it is remarkable that this is from EP-OS 2 80 941 known methods from the highest point of the tire flank going out. However, this area is due to irregularities due to the labeling of the tire and due to protruding rubber remnants. To compensate for this Irregularities are proposed, the wheel among the to turn fixed light planes away. It turns out however, it is extremely difficult to get the wheel precisely around that To rotate multiples of a full turn, but what Basic requirements for a meaningful averaging in the areas of the individual light levels.
In a method for observing movement processes an object is known to mark off apply retroreflective sheeting to the object. The Markers are synchronized by two television cameras recorded. Around with the lenses of the television cameras are arranged light sources, which in turn with the TV cameras are synchronized and the mark illuminate. In this way, the picture shows the TV cameras a strong contrast between light and dark Markings and a slight motion blur. The location the markings in the pictures can be so determine relatively simple means. Through the simultaneous use of two television cameras arises a stereoscopic recording of the marking, so that at known arrangement of the television cameras, the location of the Mark can be determined.
The invention has for its object a method of type described at the outset so that it with simple equipment, highly precise quantitative Delivers results.
According to the invention this is achieved in that the characteristic area one on the corresponding one Wheel arranged outside its axis, optically Registered mark is that the mark on each Wheel of two synchronized television cameras from two different directions is recorded that the wheels rotated around their axes during the recording, so that the mark from the television cameras in successive images in different spatial positions are recorded, and that from the spatial positions of the Markings on the wheels the relative positions of the associated axes can be determined. The mark ideally describes a circle when the wheel is turned the axis of the wheel, with the circle all the information contains about camber and track of the axis. The location of the Circle is recorded point by point by the television cameras and can also point by point from the pictures of the television cameras be determined. Every picture of the television cameras becomes only the location of the markings is required. With the new one Methods are used to determine camber and toe Out of roundness of the wheel and an incorrect arrangement of the Wheel against its axis.
The position of the marking in the individual is advantageous Images from TV cameras through weighted averaging certainly. The weighted averaging can be used the one that can be achieved with a conventional television camera Accuracy in determining the location of the mark increase drastically. The prerequisite for this is that the Marking on a large number of pixels of the respective TV camera is mapped. This is how they work statistical influences on the error of the orientation in such a way that with a conventional TV camera with 500 by 700 pixels one one-dimensional resolution of over 20,000th of Image dimensions can be achieved. This matches with compared to the size of the pixels Precision improvement by a factor greater than 40.
The size of the markers can be about 0.5 to 1.0 percent each make up the recording areas of the television cameras. If the Markings on 0.5 to 1 percent of all pixels of the respective TV camera can be mapped effective resolution of the television camera compared to the size of the Increase pixels by up to a factor of 100.
Eventuelle Abweichungen dieser Bahn von einem Kreis ließen dann Rückschlüsse beispielsweise auf ein Wandern der Achse zu.One can refer to the different spatial positions of each marking Compensation level can be determined. A compensation level through the position of the marker contains all the information to determine the track and camber of the axis of the associated Rads are necessary. For certain exams it can but also make sense to calculate the exact path which revolves around the marking and the axis. Possibly Deviations of this orbit from a circle then left Conclusions, for example, on a migration of the axis.
The images from the television cameras can last for the duration of few, especially 1 or 2 line signals of the TV cameras are exposed. The shorter the pictures of the TV cameras are exposed, the less one makes Blurred motion of the markings in the individual images noticeable. This will help determine the position of the Markings in the individual images achievable precision exploited as much as possible.
Alternatively or in addition to the actual, short Exposure time of the television cameras can change the markings when taking each picture with the TV cameras be illuminated by a flash of light. This results in a effective exposure time and motion blur Images that correspond to the duration of each flash of light.
A device for determining the track and camber of axes the wheels of a motor vehicle, the characteristic Areas of the wheels recording television cameras and one off the images of the television cameras the relative position of the axes evaluation unit calculating mathematically to the television cameras has, according to the invention is characterized in that for each wheel has a rotating device and two synchronized, a mark placed on the wheel, off axis recording from two different directions Television cameras are provided and that the evaluation unit from the spatial positions of the markings on the wheels Relative positions of the associated axes determined.
The evaluation unit can be designed to be particularly simple, when the markings attached to the wheels, retroreflective sheeting and light sources are provided are the retroreflective sheeting from the directions of the television cameras. In this case it is Light-dark contrast with the markings in the pictures the television cameras recorded are particularly large, so that the area of the images to be assigned to the markings is easy to determine.
The light sources can be viewed with the appropriate television cameras be synchronized LEDs. LEDs are resilient for a short time far beyond its nominal output. On this way they are excellent for sending out Flashes of light suitable. When the retroreflective sheeting in the form of flashes of light can Blurred motion of recording the marks in narrowest possible limits are kept.
The television camera can be a CCD camera, the Evaluation unit has hardware for each image the following product totals are determined for each CCD camera:
Daneben kann es sinnvoll sein, auf die Auswertung von Raumlagen im unteren Bereich des Rades zu verzichten, wenn der Reifen im Bereich seiner Aufstandflächen verformt ist.where z is the current line number and s is the current one Column number as well as I (z, s) in the z-th row and the s-th column registered by the TV camera Light intensity. A hardware that the above It is possible to generate product sums in real time from the Range of radar technology for the calculation of Auto correlations known. It is therefore available at low cost Available. With this hardware, the pro bon bon everyone Camera data on the three product totals reduced. These three product sums are the only ones Information below to determine trace and Fall further to be processed. The new one is advantageous Procedure to easily recognize when the marking with the Wheel has made a full turn around the axis. To at this point in time, she will be back to hers Starting position. With the new procedure, too Determination of track and camber data from a whole number of revolutions of the wheels. Besides that, can it may be useful to evaluate spatial locations in the lower Refrain from the area of the wheel if the tire is in the area its footprints are deformed.
The television cameras assigned to each wheel have an orientation angle of approx. 60 to 90 ° and are symmetrical to the axis of the wheel arranged. With this orientation, they are Basic requirements for maximum resolution of the Position of the markings given on the wheels.
Es zeigtThe invention is based on one Embodiment explained and described in more detail. It shows

Fig. 6 is a schematic circuit diagram of a hardware of an evaluation unit of the device of FIG. 1.
The device 1 for determining track and camber shown in FIG. 1 has a total of eight television cameras 2 and an evaluation unit 3 . The television cameras 2 are each aligned in pairs on wheels 4 of a chassis 5 . The wheels 4 each have axes 6 about which the wheels 4 can be rotated. The television cameras 2 are each arranged approximately symmetrically in pairs with respect to the axes 6 . Each pair of television cameras has an orientation angle 7 of approximately 90 ° to one another. The wheels 6 are thus recorded by the television cameras 2 from two orthogonal directions. The images of a pair of television cameras 2 thus together contain information about the spatial positions of all areas of the respective wheel 4 , which are recorded both by one television camera 2 and by the other television camera 2 of the pair. The evaluation unit 3 is provided for the evaluation of the images of the television cameras 2 . The evaluation unit 3 has a screen 8 for displaying the values of the track and camber of the chassis 5 . When determining the track and camber of the chassis 5 with the device 1 , the wheels 4 are rotated about their axes 6 . For this purpose, two drive rollers 9 are provided for each wheel 4 . The drive rollers 9 also support the mass of the chassis 5 or a motor vehicle, not shown here, of which the chassis 5 is a component.
For the determination of toe and camber with the device 1 according to FIG. 1, an optically recordable marking 10 must also be made on the side of the respective wheel 4 facing the television cameras 2 . This can be seen from Fig. 2. The marking 10 can be applied both on a rim 11 and on a tire 12 of the wheel 4 . The tire 12 is selected here. When turning the wheel 4 with the drive rollers 9 , the marking 10 describes a circular path 13 . The relative position of the circular path 13 to the television cameras 2 assigned to the wheel 4 contains information about the track and camber of the axis 6 . Here, the track is an angular position about a vertical axis 14 and the camber is an angular position about a longitudinal axis 15 . The vertical axis 14 runs vertically to a flat contact surface of the chassis 5 , the longitudinal axis 15 parallel to this contact surface and in the direction of travel of the chassis 5 . During the rotation of the wheel 4 , the marking 10 is recorded by the associated television cameras in different spatial positions 16 on the circular path 13 . So that the spatial positions 16 can be determined from the images of the television cameras, the television cameras 2 must each deliver an image of the same spatial location 16 . For this purpose, the television cameras 2 assigned to each wheel 4 are synchronized. That is, their pictures are exposed at exactly the same time. Since a conventional television camera delivers 50 fields per second, each of which can be evaluated individually, a rotation of the wheel 4 of one revolution per second results in a division of the circular path 13 into 50 different, individually detected spatial positions 16 . On the basis of the detected spatial positions 16, the evaluation unit according to FIG. 1 determines a compensation plane that runs perpendicular to the axis 6 and thus completely characterizes it to the extent necessary.
In order to reduce the blur of movement of the marking 10 in the individual images, the exposure time of the images should be chosen to be as short as possible. An exposure time of the duration of one line pulse from the television cameras 2 is useful. This corresponds to approximately 64 μs, during which the spatial position of the marking 10 changes only insignificantly at a rotational speed of the wheel 4 of one revolution per second.
Even shorter effective exposure times can be achieved by illuminating the marking 10 with flashes of light. In this case, the duration of the flash of light corresponds to the effective exposure time. The illumination of the marking can also be used to increase the contrast with which the marking appears in the images. An arrangement as shown in FIG. 3 proves to be particularly effective. A ring of light-emitting diodes 18 is arranged around a lens 17 of the television camera 2 . The light-emitting diodes 18 are synchronized with the television camera 2 in such a way that they each emit a flash of light during their exposure time. This flash of light illuminates the recording area of the television camera 2 . It thus also meets the marking 10 , which is designed as a retroflective film. Retroreflective sheeting has the property of reflecting incident light back into a light cone 19 , the central direction of propagation of which is opposite to the direction of the incident light. Thus, a relatively large proportion of the light emitted by the light-emitting diodes 18 onto the marking 10 reaches the lens 17 of the television camera 2 . In this way, the mark 10 appears in the images of the television camera 2 with a very large light-dark contrast. This greatly simplifies the evaluation of the images. Each image essentially shows only one light spot as an illustration of the marking 10 . It is understood that if the marking 10 is designed as a retroreflective film, each television camera 2 is assigned a ring of light-emitting diodes 18 . Light-emitting diodes or so-called LEDs are ideal for emitting light flashes with high light output. The light output can be well above the nominal output. Light-emitting diodes are extremely resilient for a short time without being destroyed.
FIG. 4 shows the image of the marking 10 within an image 20 of the television camera 2 according to FIG. 3. The image 20 is divided into individual pixels 21 . The pixels 21 are arranged according to line numbers z and column numbers s. The illustration of the marking 10 comprises a whole number of pixels 21 . The mean of the line number z and the column number s of the image of the marking 10 can be used as the position of the marking 10 in the image 20 . This results in an effective resolution of the television camera 2 which is better than the distance between its pixels. If a conventional television camera with 500 by 700 pixels is used, however, this is still not sufficient to determine the track and camber of the undercarriage 5 with the necessary accuracy. High-resolution television cameras with a larger number of pixels 21 would be required for this.
One possibility of further increasing the achievable accuracy is indicated in FIG. 5. There the light intensity I recorded by the television camera 2 in a specific line z is reproduced for the individual columns s. Where the marking 10 is shown, the intensity I rises above a gray value gw. The intensity curve I (s) shows a greased plateau. The simple averaging indicated with reference to FIG. 4 corresponds to the average column number, all pixels in which the intensity I exceeds a threshold value sw being eliminated. Obviously, information contained in the exact intensity curve remains unused. However, this is used for weighted averaging. With a weighted averaging, the accuracy in determining the position of the marking 10 in the images 20 can even be increased enormously. Compared to the pure density of the pixels, the one-dimensional resolution is improved by up to a factor of 100. Statistical influences also play a role here. It is therefore important to ensure that the marking is imaged on approximately 0.5 to 1% of all pixels of the television camera.
This corresponds to a conventional television camera with 500 times 700 pixels of an image of the marking on approximately 2000 to 3000 pixels. With the improved effective The resolution is at least simple 500 x 700 CCD cameras Pixels suitable for the determination of toe and camber.
Demnach werden folgende Produktsummen ermitteltIn its essential steps, the weighted averaging can be carried out with commercially available standardized hardware components. The functioning of such a hardware component is shown schematically in FIG. 6. Two inputs 22 and 23 are applied to a multiplier 24 . The state of the multiplier 24 is summed up by a summer 25 . The summer forms a separate sum for each picture 20 of the television camera 2 . The multiplier 24 determines a product for each pixel 21 . In the evaluation unit 3 according to FIG. 1, three hardware components according to FIG. 6 are provided for each television camera 2 . With each of these hardware components, the intensity I is given to the input 22 . The fixed value 1, the current row number or the current column number is present at input 23 . The following product totals are determined
