Description
The present invention relates to a brain wave stimulating Device according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
European patent application EP-0 412 629 A1 describes a computer that is used to set a center frequency of a Bandpass filter is used. The bandpass filter is set to one predetermined nominal center frequency corresponding to the desired one Brainwave set before the components of the Brain wave of the test person. The same kind center frequency of the bandpass filter corresponding to brain waves is the same for every test person. The computer becomes this used to determine if the output of the bandpass filter is a brain wave or noise, and then the user to inform whether the desired brain wave is stimulated was or not.
It is known that there is a close relationship between the brain world len of people and their biological, psychological Aus effects. For example, when a person is relaxed is an α wave (approximately 8-13 Hz) dominantly developed. When the person is mentally and physically active, one is β wave (approximately 14-30 Hz) dominant. If the person feels sleepy, a Θ-wave (about 4-7 Hz) is dominant.
Conversely, the person has a special brain wave is dominantly excited or induced, then the corresponding achieve the appropriate physiological and psychological state.
This can be done using the relationship between these brains waves and physiological and psychological conditions useful Lich in the control or control of physiological and psychological chological states of people. E.g. will be a test given an external optical stimulation to α-waves to stimulate the test person into a relaxed state lead, so that the test person is relieved of the stress or a acquires physiological concentration. Conventional brain waves The brainwave has stimulating devices for this purpose le of a test person recorded by a brain wave sensor and converted into an optical signal and then the test person fed back for optical stimulation. However, the di right conversion of brain waves into optical signals not effi is used to excite special brain waves.
The invention is based on the problem of stimulating a brain wave To provide device in which the brain a test person is first subjected to filtering, around the optimal frequency of a brain wave stimulating sig nals to determine and with which subsequently Brain waves with an optimal frequency in the middle of the bandwidth using a stimulating optical signal. This allows the efficient stimulation of a subject's brain waves.
A bandpass filter has a center frequency that can be used for scanning or Wobbling over a frequency range changed by brain waves can be selected frequency components of brain waves let through. The output signals of the bandpass filters are fed to a brain wave amplitude calculator, which is the amplitudes of the output signals for each of the centers frequencies calculated and also saved. An optimum frequency calculator performs a calculation based on the respective center frequencies and their amplitudes from the brain wave Amplitude calculator and issues a command which is a optimal center frequency of the bandpass filter gives. A center frequency selector changes the center frequency the bandpass filter in accordance with the command of the op frequency frequency calculator.

In the figure, a brain wave sensor 1 detects the brain wave of a human body or a subject. A brain wave amplifier 2 amplifies the brain waves detected by the brain wave sensor 1 to a sufficient signal level for the subsequent brain wave processing. A bandpass filter 3 receives the output signals of the brain wave receiver 2 and allows only selected frequency components. An automatic gain control circuit 4 (AGC) receives the output signal of the band-pass filter 3 and automatically maintains the amplitude of the brain wave output from the filter 3 at a predetermined constant level. An LED driver circuit 5 drives a light emitting diode (LED) 6 to periodically turn the LED on and off or periodically brighter and darker in accordance with the brain wave inducing signal output from the automatic gain control circuit 4 to let. Der Mikrocomputer 7 enthält Signale vom Bandpaßfilter 3 über einen A/D-Wandler 8.A microcomputer 7 contains primarily a CPU, a ROM, a RAM, which together with a built-in program form a Mittenfre frequency selector 9 , a brain wave amplitude calculator 10 , and an optimum frequency calculator 11 . The microcomputer 7 contains signals from the bandpass filter 3 via an A / D converter 8 .
Der Mittenfrequenzselektor 9 wech selt steuerbar die Mittenfrequenz fo des Bandpaßfilters 3 durch Wechseln der Frequenz des Clocksignals CLK.The brain wave amplitude calculator 10 calculates, and the amplitudes stores the output signals of the bandpass filter 3 for the respective through the Mittenfrequenzse lecturer 9 selected frequency when the selector 9, the middle frequency of the bandpass filter 3 changes to rich across the Frequency Ranges a desired brain wave to wobble. The optimum frequency calculator 11 performs calculations based on the amplitudes of the respective center frequencies stored in the brain wave amplitude calculator 10 so as to determine the optimum center frequency of the bandpass filter 3 for inducing a desired brain wave. The optimum frequency of the bandpass filter 3 calculated in this way is output to the Mittenfre frequency selector 9 . The center frequency selector 9 changes controllably the center frequency fo of the bandpass filter 3 by changing the frequency of the clock signal CLK.
The operation of the above-mentioned embodiment will be described below with reference to Fig. 2 which shows a flowchart of the device according to the invention and with reference to Fig. 3 which shows an induced α-brain wave at the center frequency of the bandpass filter 3 during the sweeping of the Center frequency and during the induction of an α wave represents.
In step 1 , on a wobble start command, which is supplied by an external circuit, the center frequency selector 9 outputs the clock signal CLK, which has a suitable upper limit frequency fH of a center frequency z. B. fH = 13 Hz for an α wave. Then the center frequency of the bandpass filter 3 is swept starting from 13 Hz, as shown in Fig. 3.
In step 2 , the brain wave amplitude calculator 10 calculates the output signal of the bandpass filter 3 , which at this time has a center frequency of fH = 13 Hz, and stores the center frequency (F = 13 Hz) and the calculated amplitude A in an internal memory.
In step 3, the center frequency selector 9 shifts the center frequency toward the lower side by Δ f from fH = 13 Hz, so that the center frequency of the bandpass filter is now fH-Δf.
In step 4 it is determined whether the new center frequency is below a lower limit frequency fL of the bandpass filter. For example, fL = 8Hz for an α wave. If the answer is NO, the program returns to step 2 ; if the answer is yes, the program proceeds to step 5 . In this way, the above-mentioned steps 2 to 4 are carried out iteratively for frequencies fH = 13 Hz to 8 Hz, as indicated by a dashed line in Fig. 3, so that the amplitudes of the output signal of the bandpass filter 3 for the respective center frequencies in the internal memory of the brain wave amplitude calculator 10 are stored.
In step 5 , when the wobble operation of fH = 13 to 8 Hz has been completed or ended, the optimum frequency computer 11 reads out the respective wobbled center frequency Fi and its amplitude from Ai, which are stored in the brain wave amplitude calculator 10 , and calculates one Optimum center frequency fo for inducing a desired brain wave as follows:
wobei Fi die i-te gewobbelte Mittenfrequenz, Ai die Amplitude der i-ten gewobbelten Mittenfrequenz Fi, i eine ganze Zahl von 1 bis n, und FB eine Versatzfrequenz ist.where Fi is the i-th swept center frequency, Ai is the amplitude the i-th swept center frequency Fi, i is an integer of 1 to n, and FB is an offset frequency.
The first term of the right part of Equation 1 is a ge weighted center frequency of a brain wave in the wobble frequency range (fH to fL) and the second term is one Offset frequency for efficiently inducing a desired one Brain wave.
Brainwaves have a "pulling phenomenon" on. In other words, a brain wave inducing Si gnal with a slightly lower frequency than the desired Brainwave is more effective in guiding the subject to the Ent tension. On the other hand, a brain wave is induced signal with a slightly higher frequency than that desired brainwave more effective when guiding the test person in an excited, active state. Thus taken into account Equation (1) the "drag phenomenon" to find the optimal mids to calculate frequency.
In step 6 , the optimum frequency computer 11 sends a command indicating the optimum center frequency fo to the center frequency selector 9 . Then the center frequency selector 9 sends the clock signals CLK according to the command of the Optimumfre frequency calculator 11 to the bandpass filter 3 to set the filter 3 for the calculated optimal frequency fo.
In this way, a desired brain wave is efficiently induced in accordance with the calculated optimum center frequency. Fig. 3 shows a graph in which the offset frequency in equation (1) is -FB.
While the embodiment described above under Be the induction of α-waves has been described, the invention can of course be used in the same way for induction of Θ waves and β waves can be used. The sweep area is set to 4 to 7 Hz for Θ waves and to 13 to 30 Hz for β waves. If the offset frequency FB in Equation (1) is not necessary, only the first term can be used to calculate the optimum center frequency.
A bandpass filter has a center frequency that Wobble over a frequency range of a desired brain wave can be changed to selected Fre pass through the frequency components of a brain wave. A brain wave amplitude calculator calculates and stores the amplitude of the Output values of the bandpass filter for each value of the midrange sequences of the bandpass filter. Calculate an optimum frequency calculator net and issues a command which frequency of the bandpass filter on the basis of the respective mids frequencies and their amplitudes are indicated. On Center frequency selector changes the center frequency of the band pass filters in accordance with the command.
