Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method of manufacture development of thin ceramic disks from fine-grained powders, which by adding organic solvents, e.g. B. ethyl alcohol hol, isopropanol, and binders, e.g. B. polyvinyl butyral, Polyethylene glycol and octyl phthalate, using a foil Engießververfahren to unsintered, plastic films manufactured and then by thermal treatment solid sintered ceramic disks processed the.
The thermal treatment takes place in previously used Manufacturing process in the following steps: Drying phase, d. H. Expulsion of the solvent when Heating up to approx. 300 ° C, burning phase, d. H. Burnout all existing organic additives with formation of gaseous Combustion products when heating up to approx. 1000 ° C and Sin terphase, the grains of the starting powder to a dense ceramic disc at 1350 ° C or 1550 ° C, depending on Sinter the starting material. While drying, off burning and sintering shrinks the film by up to 30% its original dimensions. If this process is not homo gen, d. H. drying, burning out and sintering take place not completely uniform or time and temperature immediately across the entire surface of the film Cracks and warps that affect the sintered ceramic Make discs unusable for further use.
Different solutions have already been used to solve this problem Measures taken, such as separate drying and burning out between porous ceramic plates and then sealant the foil between two flat polished dense kera microplates or drying, burning out and presintering the Fo lien between porous ceramic plates and subsequent Sealing and plan sintering of the foils by hot pressing between polished ceramic plates. These measures resulted despite the increased technical effort and corresponding No additional costs to the desired quality of the ceramic slices.
From DE-OS 35 34 886 a similar process for Manufacture of aluminum nitride ceramic plates known in which several are first overlapped in a sintering process stacked aluminum plates made of ceramic powder getting produced. So that the aluminum plates during the Sintering is not between the one individual plates each a very thin, no less than 1 µm, typically 1 to 50 µm thick layer of a ceramic powder arranged. There are aluminum nitride plates, the Ver Draws and ripples and a second temp rature treatment require that be as corrective treatment is drawing. Also during this corrective treatment the aluminum nitride plates are between each thin layers of a ceramic powder to the individual Separate plates. On the stack of up to 20 Alumi nium plates becomes an end plate as a weight load placed. The weight load is therefore dependent on the Position in the stack. When using the method for Her Position of solid electrolytes shows that the only as Separating agent provided layer is too thin to be removed of gases during the sintering process. Au Two heating processes are also required.
The invention is therefore based on the object, a verbes sertes process for the production of thin ceramic disks ho to specify quality.
This task is accomplished by a method of manufacturing thin ceramic disks made of fine-grained powders, the by adding organic solvents, e.g. B. ethyl alcohol, Isopropanol, and binders, e.g. B. polyvinyl butyral, poly ethylene glycol and octyl phthalate, using a film casting process to unsintered, plastic foils pre manufactures and then by thermal treatment to fe sintered ceramic disks are further processed, the method following steps for further treatment of the prefabricated plastic films has:
- a) Auflegen wenigstens einer plastischen Folie auf eine plan geschliffene keramische Unterlage innerhalb ei nes Keramikrings, dessen Höhe mindestens der Summe der Dicke der Folie und einer Keramikpulverschicht entspricht, die anschließend durch Einfüllen von Ke ramikpulver in den durch den Keramikring begrenzten Raum hergestellt wird,a) placing at least one plastic film on one flat ground ceramic base within an egg ceramic ring, the height of which is at least the sum the thickness of the film and a ceramic powder layer corresponds, which then by filling Ke ceramic powder in the limited by the ceramic ring Space is made
- b) Auflegen einer Keramikplatte auf den Keramikring als Abdeckung und b) placing a ceramic plate on the ceramic ring as Cover and
Gasaustausch.c) heat treatment in a chamber or tunnel furnace Gas extraction or gas exchange.
The method according to the invention enables the production of thin ceramic disks with high strength, good flatness of the surfaces and high dimensional accuracy. Only one temperature cycle is required. The achieved avoidance of faults, such as cracks, warping or unevenness, is mainly due to the covering of the plastic films with a ceramic powder, which ensures an unhindered escape of the gases or vapors that form during drying and burning out, e.g. B. CO 2 and H 2 O enables light. The powder layer ensures an even temperature distribution and weight load. In addition, the powder layer enables the film to slide evenly during shrinking, so that no cracks or warps occur due to uneven tensile or shear forces.
Refinements of the method are in the claims given.
The manufacturing process is explained below using the arrangement shown in the drawing. The drawing shows a flat ground ceramic base 1 , on which a cast plastic ceramic sheet 2 is placed. The film 2 is covered on the top and the side surfaces with a uniformly thick ceramic powder layer 3 , which is bordered by a ceramic ring 4 . On the Kera mikring 4 is an approximately 8 to 10 mm thick ceramic plate 5 as a cover. In a preferred stacking arrangement for economic reasons, as shown in the drawing, the cover also acts as a base for the film 2 arranged above it. The upper surface of the ceramic ring 4 is roughly broken, so that gases or vapors escaping from the film can escape during the sintering.
To prepare the assembly for the sintering process of the film 2 and the ceramic ring 4 is completely filled in the space inside of the ring 4 with ceramic powder after hanging up, with any supernatants are slipped over the ring 4 from. The ceramic powder layer 3 is not loaded by the cover plate 5 during the sintering process, since the film 2 shrinks. The film 2 is so alone by the weight of the ceramic powder layer 3 be loaded.
So erfordert z. The thickness of the powder layer depends on the bulk density of the ceramic powder and the thickness of the underlying plastic film. The thicker the film, the higher the required powder layer or the bulk density of the ceramic powder. When using the same ceramic powder, the thickness of the powder layer is directly proportional to the film thickness. So z. B. a zirconium oxide film of 0.1 mm thickness a 3 to 4 mm high powder layer of zirconium oxide with a grain size up to 10 microns, a zirconium oxide film of 0.3 mm a 9 to 12 mm high powder layer. The typical specific weight of the ceramic powder is 6 g / cm 3 . To avoid a chemical interaction between film and base or film and powder layer, it is advisable to adapt their material composition to one another; ie for the processing of Al 2 O 3 foils a ceramic plate made of Al 2 O 3 and in the powder layer Al 2 O 3 powder or for ZrO 2 foils a ZrO 2 underlay and ZrO 2 powder in the powder layer be used.
The heat treatment of the foils covered with the powder layer takes place in a chamber or tunnel furnace with gas extraction or gas exchange. The foils are dried, burned out and sintered by time-programmed heating from room temperature to the maximum temperature, ie sintering temperature and corresponding cooling to room temperature. In the case of ZrO 2 foils, the temperature is raised linearly at a rate of 1 degree per minute from room temperature to the sintering temperature of 1450 ° C., held at the sintering temperature for one hour and then cooled to 1000 ° C. at 1 degree per minute and two Held at 1000 ° C for hours and finally cooled to room temperature at 3 to 5 degrees per minute. The temperature-time program depends on the composition of the foils and their manufacturing parameters when casting foils. After the heat treatment is complete, the sintered foils are removed from the powder layer. Like the ceramic base, the ceramic powder can be reused as often as required for further sintering of foils.
The process enables due to the powder coverage both the sintering of relatively large-area foils as well the sintering of many small foils under a large area layer of powder (mass production in large sintering furnaces) with high quality of the sintered ceramic discs in terms of their planicity. In addition, the Arrangement can be stacked several times on top of one another to achieve good use of the furnace space.
