Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a hot runner sprue nozzle with a nozzle body and with a melt channel running in the nozzle body, which is in a sprue opening ends, the gate opening being pre-featured in a nose section of the nozzle body can be seen and wherein a heating element extends around the melt channel.
The thermal control of the inlet in the sprue area, which is also called tempe maturity-based initiation includes such a procedure in which the Temperature of the melt in the inlet area is changed during each cycle, to control the flow of the melt to the mold cavity. For example, this is off US 4,768,945 known. There is a heating element is described, which was a front section that extends diagonally into a nose portion of the nozzle. In the US 4,911,636 and US 4,941,249 is the thermal control in the inlet area below Using a nozzle with an integral heating element described, which a circular portion which has the melt hole in a forward direction surrounding the nose portion of the nozzle. In US 4,875,848 is a conical type described duct channel insert, which sits in the front end of a nozzle, which means an integral, spiral heating element is heated.
In all of the above designs, the heating element is in the Steel nozzle or the sprue insert embedded and is not in direct contact with the melt flowing through the melt channel. So if you look at these systems for thermal control in the inlet area, it has been shown that there is a Limit at the minimum cycle time, because the heating element in the steel body Nozzle is embedded, which acts as a heat sink.
The invention therefore aims to at least partially overcome these difficulties To overcome the prior art in that a ge ge in the inlet area Controlled injection molding nozzle is provided, in which a part of the heating element in is in direct contact with the melt near the sprue.
This object is there in connection with the preamble of claim 1 solved by that the heating element turns in the area of the nose section forms the bil at least in sections of the inner surface of the melt channel the. In this way, the heating element is in the area of the nose section and thus in the area of the gate opening in direct contact with that in the melt channel located melt. Due to the direct contact a quick heat transfer can take place and the casting compound in the melt channel can be heated up quickly. This allows for the manufacture of castings achieve high clock rates.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the turns can extend into the Extend near the gate. This has the advantage that also those in the An pouring opening located almost simultaneously with that in the melt channel casting material can be heated and melted.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the turns can be rich the conical tapered surface. By knowing yourself nically tapering surface becomes a more uniform speed profile across the Gate opening achieved.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the turns of the heating element can preferably in the section located in the direction of the gate opening have a square cross-section. The square cross section is inexpensive and easy to manufacture. With a quadrangular cross-section will lie against each other the turns a smooth inner surface of the melting channel formed.
The heating element can also be electrically insulated. Easy installation of the Dü lower body is achieved if in a further advantageous embodiment Heating element is arranged in one piece in the nozzle body.
In order to supply the heating element with energy, another can be advantageous Embodiment, the heating element a rear facing away from the gate Have section that is provided with a connection. The arrangement of the An the rear section of the heating element ensures that in place the connection temperature is low.
In a further advantageous embodiment, a between the turns and the rear section of the central section of the heating element spirally be wrapped around the nozzle body. The spiral winding allows one achieve uniform heating of the casting compound in the melt channel.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the finished parts of the nozzle.
First, reference is made to FIG. 1, which shows a hot runner sprue nozzle with a thermally controlled inlet area which has an integral, electrically insulated heating element 12 . The nozzle 10 has a nozzle body 14 which extends away from a collar 16 near the rear end 18 . The nozzle 10 is seated in a bore 20 in the mold cavity plate 22 in cooperation with a circumferential insulating flange 24 which extends away from the collar-shaped part 16 and sits on a circumferential shoulder 26 . The nozzle 10 has a nose portion 28 in the vicinity of its front end 30 , which is received in an opening 32 which plate 22 goes through the mold cavity 22 to a mold cavity 34 . Thus, the nozzle 10 is precisely aligned in its position in which the cylindrical outer surface 36 of the nozzle body 14 is separated from the mold cavity plate 22 surrounded by it by means of an insulating air space 38 . In this preferred embodiment, the nozzle 10 has a central melt channel 40 , which extends to a sprue or an inlet 42 in the nose section 28 , which leads to the mold cavity 34 .
The nozzles 10 are fastened by means of screws 44 to a common, elongated distributor device 46 which has a melt channel 48 which branches to the plurality of outlets 50 , each of which is aligned with the melt channel 40 via one of the nozzles 10 . The distributor device 46 is firmly held in place between a back plate 52 and a mold cavity plate 22 by means of a central alignment ring 54 and a resiliently spacing element 56 . The back plate 52 is held in place with the aid of screws 58 , which go through a support plate 60 into the mold cavity plate 22 . The back plate 52 and the cavity plate 22 are cooled by pumping cooling water through the cooling channels 62 .
The distributor device 46 is heated by means of an electrical heating element 64 which is cast in, as is described in US Pat. No. 4,688,622. The alignment ring 54 forms a further insulating air space 66 between the heated distributor 46 and the mold cavity plate 22nd
In this preferred embodiment, the heating element 12 has a nickel-chromium resistance wire 68 which passes through an electrically insulating material 70 made of refractory powder, such as magnesium oxide, inside a steel housing 72 . The heating element 12 has a rear portion 74 , a helical middle portion 76 and a front portion 78th The rear portion 74 extends outwardly through an opening 80 in the collar 16 to a cold connector 82 to connect to an external lead wire (not shown). With the telabschnitt 76 of the heating element 12 is integrally soldered into a spiral channel 84 in the outer surface 36 of the nozzle body 14 , and it extends around the nozzle 14th The spiral part of the heating element 76 in the channel 84 is covered by a protective coating 86 made of nickel, as is described in US Pat. No. 4,768,283.
While the rear and middle sections 74 , 76 of the heating element 12 have a generally regular, circular cross section, the front section 78 has a generally regular, square cross section. From the front section 78 is formed by a number of adjacent turns 88 which form an inner surface 90 which is tapered in the forward and inward direction. As can be seen from the drawing, part 92 of the inner surface 90 of the windings 80 forms an inwardly tapering section 94 of the melt channel 40 in the vicinity of the runner 42 .
In use, the parts of the system are arranged as shown in Fig. 1, and electrical energy is applied to the heating element 12 of each nozzle 10 and the heating element 64 in the distribution device 46 to bring them to a predetermined operating temperature depending on the material to be molded to warm up. A pressurized melt from a molding machine (not shown) is injected into the melt channel 48 in the manifold 46 via the inlet 96 in accordance with a cycle which is controlled in connection with a cycle for applying the energy to the heating elements 12 in the nozzles 10 becomes. Thus, one maintains thermal control or temperature based control of the lead-in area by turning off the power to the heating elements 12 for a short period of time and opening the mold to expel the molded products. The heat loss from the nose portion 28 to the surrounding, cooled mold cavity plate 22 leads to melting in the sprues 42 before ejection. When the mold is closed, the heating elements 12 are again supplied with energy in order to heat the solidified melt in the casting channels 42 , so that they open again immediately when the injection pressure acts again. The pressurized melt flows through the melt channel 40 and the sprue 42 in each nozzle 10 and fills the cavities 34 . After the cavities have been filled, the spray pressure is briefly maintained to cause compression and then it is released. After a short cooling period, the mold is opened again to eject the molded products. Such a cycle is repeated continuously as quickly as possible, and in some cases this cycle can be repeated a few times per minute. It should also be mentioned that the location of the front portions 78 of the heating elements 12 , which are in direct contact with the melt in the melt channels 40 in the vicinity of the sprue channels 42 , significantly reduce the time which is required after the energy for melting has been reapplied the solidified melt in the sprue channels 42 is required, which can thus reduce the cycle time. Furthermore, the conical windings 88 of the front sections 78 of the heating elements 12 gradually extend further backward into the nozzle body 14 of the nozzles, so that the temperature influence on the thermal control in the inlet area is gradually reduced at a distance from the sprue channels 42 . The central sections 76 of the heating elements 12 are embedded in the nozzle bodies 14 of the nozzles 12 at a considerable distance from the central melt channels 40 . Thus, the main body act as heat sinks and temperature fluctuations of the melt in this area due to the thermally controlled cycle in the inlet area can be kept as low as possible.
Now 2 to 4 reference is made to FIGS. Taken to explain the steps wel che be used in the manufacture of the nozzle. First, a predetermined length of heating element 12 is wound on a tapered mandrel (not shown) to form a tapered turn portion 98 , as shown in FIG. 2. This tortuous portion 98 of the heating element 12 is then compressed between the inner and outer conical shaped parts 100 , 102 , as shown in FIG. 3. The outer molding 102 has an opening 104 with predetermined dimensions around the inner surface 106 , into which the wound portion 98 of the heating element is inserted. When the outer mold part 102 is pressed down against the inner mold part 100 , as indicated by an arrow, the wound section 98 of the heating element 12 is compressed to form a front section 78 which has the shape which is shown in FIGS is shown. 1, 4 and 5. As shown, the generally round cross section is now generally square in shape and the adjacent turns 88 form the conical inner surface 90 .
The front section 78 is then attached between the front and rear sections 108 , 110 of the nozzle body 14 , as shown in FIG. 4. After the two sections 108 , 110 are temporarily firmly connected to each other, the remaining part of the heating element in the form of some adjacent turns is initially wound in the spiral channel 84 in the outer surface 36 and then the winding runs through the opening 80 in the collar 16 to the connection 82 to the outside. The assembly is then coated with a nickel alloy braze material and brazed in a vacuum oven. As described in more detail in US Pat. No. 4,768,283, this results in a metallurgical bond of the parts to form an integral unit and a protective coating 86 made of nickel is formed. As shown in Fig. 5, a thermocouple hole 112 is provided to a management record thermocouples 114, by which the temperature of the nozzle in the vicinity of the measured prior to its portion 78 of the heating element 12. The nose section 28 is then machined and the melt channel 40 passes through the nose section, which is done by electrical discharge machining to form the runner 42 of desired dimensions so that the desired lead-in area design is obtained.
Although the nozzle and a method of making the same according to a preferred embodiment have been described above, this is an example that is not restrictive in nature. Numerous changes and modifications can be made by the specialist if necessary. For example, it can be seen that the dimensions of the melt channel and the Angusska channel and the cone angle of the inner surface can change depending on different applications. In some nozzles, the melt channel 40 may extend inward from the nozzle 12 side and not away from the rear end 18 . Different designs of the molded parts can be used to form the winding section 98 of the heating element 12 .
