Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for ver gluing monofilaments, especially optical fibers, especially of polymeric optical fibers, before pulls flat tapes and largely for gluing flat ribbons, especially those ribbons made from Optical fibers exist or otherwise light-guiding are to wider bands, the inventive Process avoids many disadvantages of known processes and they especially because of the advantage that tapes can be glued together to form wider tapes, by far exceeds. The procedure is particular through an order of Known adhesive between the fibers or the tapes records, whereby the fibers and / or ribbons only in the Adhesive wraps are glued.
Process for gluing monofilament or light guide fibers, be they made of polymeric materials or glass, are known in different variants. According to Art The process can be glued in two Divide categories, on the one hand into those that lead to a so-called "physical" bonding, in which the individual fibers completely with adhesive Material are surrounded, and the fibers by positive locking are held together and on the other hand those that are too a so-called "chemical" bonding lead which is only one side, or essentially just the gusset between the fibers with glue ge are filling. The advantages of physical bonding are generally easy to separate Seen single cores, an argument that is mainly based on Ribbons made of glass optical fibers apply. Tapes polymer optical fibers (POF), however, are used in all Usually not separated again, rather they are through subsequent micromechanical treatment of the Claddings (so-called "activation") to a selective Releases light. For polymeric tapes Optical fibers therefore become chemical, selective Gluing preferred because of the low adhesive application activation favors. Such wristbands will be mainly used in the lighting sector (e.g. Dashboard lighting in vehicles, display lighting in electronic devices, backlighting of LCD displays etc.). In this branch there are mostly very broad ones Tapes are used, consisting of a few dozen to a few there are a hundred individual fibers. With known methods, as for example in EP 2 53 457 A. (DE-A 38 01 576) are described because of the principle of the material feed (thread guide), the manner in which the fibers are brought together and / or Type of adhesive application by using adhesive roll the material to be glued into shape single round fibers are fed. This is a Significant disadvantage, since the need for wide bands The number of thread runs is technically very complex is that all processes have to work absolutely evenly and the resulting from the space very much long thread paths to major handling problems and lead to potentially non-uniform bonding. Through the joint application of the adhesive to all fibers is the adhesive applied individually to each fiber amount of substance is difficult to control, and that of the roll of glue dispensed with glue quantity not exactly positioned on the fiber surface. In addition, a manufactured tape is not specific appropriate if only one of the many fibers is outside of their positional tolerances.
A process should now be developed in which a large number of individual fibers controlled with precise quantities Apply adhesive and only in adhesive gussets exact tapes can be glued.
There was also a need to develop a procedure wrap with the previously made, glued ribbon (hereinafter referred to as "primary ribbon") supplied and can be glued into a wide band. From A very special advantage is a procedure that does not only primary ribbons, but also individual fibers can be managed, because then with the same system, without major modifications, even the primary wristbands themselves are to be produced.
This object is achieved in that the supplied primary ribbons or the fibers for one Ribbons or round fibers of equally suitable ab winding unit removed, in a plane-parallel arrangement with of a smoothly running delivery plant after if necessary, it passes through an antistatic unit through a lock, preferably with inert gas-filled, temperature-controlled boxes are fed, inside the box using one or more galets fanned out later with another Primary ribbon or other fiber to be combined Side of a primary ribbon or fiber using Mi Kropräparationsvorrichtung provided with adhesive is that only that part of the scope of the single fiber or the primary ribbon is provided with adhesive, who later on forming an adhesive gusset is divided, preferred in each case a godet linearly arranged rows of godets or on a single galette with the corresponding neighboring primary volume or the neighboring fiber is brought together, the Glue is rolled into the gusset that forms, in the next micropreparation device the last fed primary ribbon or the last fed Fiber is coated, the last one fed Primary ribbon or the last fiber fed is not coated and the ultimately finished tape one unit (e.g. UV radiation unit) for curing of the adhesive happens or first through a sluice se leaves the box and is then dried, and then from a preferably torque control ten, deduction is fed to a winder, the optionally supplied, to be glued primary ribbon (also with the actual gluing) tests so that they are basically only in Rich their smaller bending resistance are curved, which is the only way to ensure perfect tape guidance becomes.
The invention consists of a method for plan-parallel lelen bonding of polymer optical fibers or ins special made of plane-parallel glued optical fibers existing primary tapes to relatively wide, planpa tapes glued in parallel. Polymer optical single case Pri or consisting of polymer optical fibers Ribbon tapes are in the following under the collective term "Elements" summarized. The elements to be glued are made from one for fibers and tapes alike own workflow taken. The workflow can preferably consist of several coils on ge braked sleeves are mounted. Than have brakes in particular (electro-) magnetic hysteresis brakes lasts. The arrangement of the coils or quill is too note that the winding triangle when unwinding the in Parallel coils as pointed as possible fails at an angle to operate with primary wristbands Canting and combing when operating with single fibers to avoid. Despite all care in design and It is operation of the drainage tool - as the expert knows - not possible a certain jerking or "plucking" when Completely expire the elements from the coils shut down. Would you put the folded elements directly into the Adhesive unit and then the trigger, so would the fluctuations of the Fiber tension or primary ribbon tension in connection with the relatively small modulus of elasticity of the elements to significant longitudinal ralative movements of the Ele elements with each other and thus to an uneven Perform gluing. Because of this, the curse elements coming out of the drain gate fed to a delivery plant whose speed pre is kept constant. One is preferred here Type of use, which the experts call the name "Intervertebral disc arrangement" is known. The speed the delivery plant is preferably 1 to 100 m / min, particularly preferably 20 to 30 m / min.
Fig. 1 zeigt eine vorteilhafte Ausgestaltung des erfin
dungsgemäßen Verfahrens. Vom Ablaufwerk (1) kommend
Alkylcarbomoyl)acrylsäure-alkylestern, z. B. 1-(N-
butylcarbomoyl)ethylacrylat. Die polyfunktionellen
Produkte (A) sind beispielsweise aus linearen Polyether-
oder Polyesterdiolen (Molekulargewicht 100 bis 2500),
2-Hydroxyethyl-acrylat und geringen Mengen an Zinn
katalysatoren und Stabilisatoren, sowie Isophorondiiso
cyanat aufgebaut (siehe z. B. Umsetzungsprodukte a) bis
f) in der DE-OS 38 01 576). Sehr gute Ergebnisse werden
auch mit dem Produkt Nr. L 12525 der Fa. Herkula
(Krefeld, Deutschland) erzielt. ln beiden Fällen handelt
bleibt. Die beschichteten Elemente werden an einer
Galettenreihe 11(a-p) wieder vereinigt. Nachdem die
Elemente wieder planparallel fluchtend ausgerichtet
Fig. 1 shows an advantageous embodiment of the inventive method. Coming from the processing unit ( 1 ), the elements pass through the delivery unit ( 2 ) and arrive
- optionally after passing an antistatic unit ( 3 )
- Through a lock ( 4 a), in a tempered, filled with inert gas box ( 5 ), the interior of which is kept as uniform as possible at a temperature of 25 to 80 ° C, preferably 40 to 50 ° C with a heater ( 6 ). The temperature control is used to optimally adjust the viscosity of the adhesive. The box has a guide ( 7 ) for possibly tempered inert gas. The supplied inert gas is removed in the locks ( 4 a) and ( 4 b) together with ambient air that has entered the lock by means of suction ( 8 a) and ( 8 b). Inside the box, the aligned elements are separated by means of a godet ( 9 ) and coated with (disposable in fiber technology) micro disposable devices 10 (ao) with adhesive. The coating takes place locally only on that peripheral section of an element which comes into contact with the uncoated peripheral section of a neighboring element when reunited. Since the number of adhesive gussets formed on reunification is one less than the number of elements, the number of disposable preparation devices is also one less than the number of elements. Polyurethane acrylates of the class of substances claimed in DE-PS 38 01 576 have proven their worth as an adhesive. They consist of 25 to 75 wt .-% polyfunctional (meth) acrylic acid derivatives (A) and 75 to 25 wt .-% of monofunctional (meth) acrylic acid esters such as 1- (N-alkyl carbomoyl) acrylic acid alkyl esters, for. B. 1- (N-butylcarbomoyl) ethyl acrylate. The polyfunctional products (A) are composed, for example, of linear polyether or polyester diols (molecular weight 100 to 2500), 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and small amounts of tin catalysts and stabilizers, and isophorone diiso cyanate (see, for example, reaction products a) to f ) in DE-OS 38 01 576). Very good results are also achieved with product No. L 12525 from Herkula (Krefeld, Germany). In both cases, these are elements in which a polyurethane acrylate of the type described in DE-PS 38 01 576 was used as cladding. If necessary, the cladding may have been cured in the presence of small amounts of oxygen, cf. own unpublished DE-P 43 62 860.1 application. The mechanical guidance of the elements, the positioning of the adhesive application and the metering of the amount of adhesive applied take place with such precision that only the gusset intended for bonding is filled with adhesive, while the rest of the element surface remains unwetted. The coated elements are reunited on a row of godets 11 (ap). After the elements are aligned again in a plane-parallel manner, the adhesive is cured in a hardening chamber ( 12 ) with UV light and the elements pass outside through a lock ( 4 b). The order of the lock and hardening chamber can also be interchanged. The finished strip is fed by a winder.
Fig. 2 illustrates the thread guide, the adhesive order and the formation of the tape.
Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the method according to the Invention, in which the elements are separated on a godet row 11 (ap), but together lead on a single godet ( 9 ).
In a particularly preferred embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4, the clamping length between the delivery mechanism and the deduction is the same for each element. Minor non-uniformities when supplying the elements or when tightening the band do not have the effect of longitudinal relative movements between the individual elements due to the spring travel being the same for all elements. Therefore, there are no inherent tensions in the finished tape.
In FIG. 4, 1, 2, 3, 4 a, 4 b, 5, 6, 7, 8 a, 8 b, 10 (ao), 11 (ap), 12 and 13 have the meaning given in FIG. 1 . The godets for separating the elements are designated 9 (ap).
Zusammengefaßt geben Fig. 1 bis 4 folgende Sachverhalte wieder:In summary, give 1 to 4 are the following items back.:

A drainage gate contains 16 spools, on which polymer optical fibers (POF) (with particularly favorable constancy of the fiber diameter) manufactured according to Example 1 of the simultaneously filed patent application of Bayer AG, P 41 ..... (Le A 28 361) Parallel winding are wound up. The coils are each braked by a hysteresis brake. After leaving the gate, where they were plotted plane-parallel, the fibers are glued ver plane-parallel in an arrangement according to FIG. 4. The delivery unit 2 has a constant speed of 25 m / min. Purified and dried nitrogen is used as the inert gas. Type L 12 525 from Herkula is used as an adhesive. In the hardening chamber 12 , the focal line of a 20 cm long mercury vapor medium pressure lamp (120 W / cm) is imaged on the strip surface by means of an ellipsoid-shaped mirror. In order to prevent the inert gas from flowing out into the mirror space, the tape in the hardening chamber is surrounded by a tube made of apparatus glass, which at the same time protects as a filter against that short-wave part of the UV spectrum that would damage the polycarbonate core. The hardened strip is fed from a torque-controlled take-off to a traversing parallel winder. The band formed has a width of 4.04 mm ± 2.2%. If one places a line of compensation determined by eliminating the square of the error through the centers of all fibers, the maximum deviation of any center of the fiber from the line of compensation (transverse to the main direction of extent of the strip cross-section) is 11 µm.
A drainage gate contains 16 spools on which tapes (primary tapes) manufactured according to example 1 are wound in parallel winding. The coils are braked in exactly the same way as in Example 1 in order to ensure that the individual tapes (primary tapes) are perfectly aligned when entering the delivery plant, but a greater braking torque than in Example 1 is required (tractive force approx. 18 N per tape). The primary tapes are bonded to form a wide tape analogously to Example 1 in an arrangement according to FIG. 4. The feed unit 2 has a constant speed of 21 m / min. The same substances as in example 1 are used as adhesive and as inert gas. The same emitters as in Example 1 are used to cure the adhesive, but two pieces are required because of the large width of the finished tape. The radiators are arranged opposite one broad side of the band. The focal line is projected onto the broad side of the tape using a parabola-like mirror. The finished tape is wound on a spool without traversing, the flange distance of which is adapted to the bandwidth. The width of the band formed is 65 mm ± 2.8%. If a straight line is determined by minimizing the sum of the squares by the centers of all fibers, the maximum deviation of the center point of any fiber of the entire ribbon from the straight line (transverse to the main direction of extent of the ribbon cross-section) is 23 µm.

if necessary after passing an antistatic unit ( 3 )
through a lock ( 4 a)
in a temperature-controlled box ( 5 ), which is preferably filled with inert gas,
are fanned out within the box using one or more godets,
the side of a fiber or a primary ribbon to be combined later with a fiber or a primary ribbon is in each case provided with only so much adhesive by means of a quantity-controlled micro-preparation device ( 10 ) that only that part of the circumference of the individual fiber or the primary ribbon is provided with adhesive,
which later participates in the formation of the adhesive gusset, and the remaining surface remains unwetted,
is brought together on a godet of a preferably linearly arranged godet row or on a single godet with the corresponding neighboring fiber or with the neighboring primary ribbon, the adhesive being rolled into the gusset that forms,
the next supplied fiber or the next supplied primary ribbon is coated by means of the next micro-preparation device and the last supplied fiber and / or the last supplied primary ribbon is not coated,
and the ultimately formed tape leaves the box ( 5 ) before or after a light curing unit ( 12 )
and is then fed from a take-off ( 13 ) to a winder, the primary tapes always being guided in such a way that they are only curved in the direction of their smaller bending resistance for proper tape guidance.
