Abstract
Description
Kera mikwerkstoffen. The invention relates to a method for producing nanocrystalline powders made of metals, alloys or Kera micromaterials.
So-called nanocrystalline powders are used for production ultra-strong metals or ductile ceramics by sintering.
Known processes for the production of powders with extreme small particle size consist in atomizing a melt, Zer dusting a melt on a rotating disc, atomizing ben a melt with a standing ultrasonic wave or in mechanical crushing and grinding of a solid starting material rials. With these known methods, nanocrystals can be used line powder either not at all or only with great difficulty Produce keiten, the particle size fluctuates greatly.
The invention has for its object a method for the production of nanocrystalline powders from metals, To create alloys or ceramic materials that with a is low in apparatus costs and can be carried out at one nanocrystalline powder with largely uniform particles size leads.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that the ver starting material in question by means of a plasma flame steams and is condensed on a cooled surface.
The invention is based on the fact that in condensation Ren of gaseous particles on cooled surfaces by Ein setting the gas pressure and the condensation temperature targeted crystal growth can be effected, the Crystal size decreases with increasing pressure.
Appropriate developments of the invention result from the subclaims.
Es zeigt:In the drawing are two devices for performing of the inventive method shown below are explained in more detail. It shows:

Fig. 2 is a schematic longitudinal section through an on device for the production of nanocrystalline powders made of ceramic materials.
The device shown schematically in FIG. 1 is used to produce nanocrystalline powders from electrically conductive materials, such as metals or alloys. This device consists of a closed chamber with water-cooled walls 2 . The chamber delimited by the walls 2 is designed as a vacuum tank and connected to corresponding pumps via pipes (not shown). At the bottom of the chamber there is a water-cooled cathode base 4 , the top of which is coated with the material 6 to be pulverized. More specifically, this material, ie a metal or a metal alloy 6 may be soldered onto the cathode base 4 or applied by means of a flame spraying method. The cathode base 4 and thus the metal layer 6 is connected cathodically. A plasma spray gun is disposed on the top of the chamber opposite to the cathode base 4 . This plasma spray gun consists of a tungsten electrode 8 and a copper nozzle 10 arranged concentrically with it. The tungsten electrode 8 forms a cathode and the copper nozzle 10 forms an anode. In the copper nozzle 10 are directed towards the axis oblique bores 12 for the supply of an inert gas, for example a mixture of argon and helium, on.
A device of the type described above is for vacuum coating workpieces, such as glass discs, known by sputtering. With this be The walls of the chamber are not known devices chilled.
To generate a plasma, an arc is ignited between the tungsten electrode 8 serving as the cathode and the copper nozzle 10 serving as the anode. The gas supplied through the bores 12 is extremely strongly heated and ionized. The ionized gas is accelerated very strongly and forms a plasma flame outside the nozzle 10 . This plasma flame sweeps over the metal material 6 applied to the cathode base 4 . The metallic material 6 evaporates and condenses on the inside of the water-cooled walls 2 . This condensation leads to crystal growth, which depends on the pressure in the chamber and the temperature of the walls. The crystal size decreases with increasing pressure. At a pressure of the order of 50 mbar, the evaporated metallic material 6 condenses on the water-cooled walls 2 as a nanocrystalline powder.
The nanocrystalline powder formed on the walls 2 during the condensation of the evaporated metallic material 6 is collected in filters which are connected upstream of the vacuum pumps (not shown).
In Fig. 2, a device for the production of nano-crystalline powder from ceramic materials is shown, which differs from the device shown in Fig. 1 essentially in that the cathode base is omitted, but in the nozzle 10 in addition to the first bores 12 several second bores 14 are provided. A ceramic material used for the production of nanocrystalline powder in the form of a fine grain powder is blown through the second bores 14 together with a carrier gas. The fine grain powder has a particle size of less than 20 µm, and argon is preferably used as the carrier gas. Inlaid into the plasma flame formed by the gas flowing through the first bores 12, ceramic fine-grain powder evaporates and condenses on the water-cooled walls 2 as nanocrystalline powder. The ceramic material is evaporated and condensed under atmospheric pressure. The nanocrystalline powder formed on the water-cooled walls 2 can also be collected in filters in this embodiment.
One can be used for the device described above conventional plasma spray gun can be used as for Coating of workpieces by plasma spraying is used.
