Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a power supply for exciting a supra Conductive magnet of a nuclear spin tomograph.
With MRI tomographs is to excite or to change a separate magnetic power supply is always available for excitation, that has to deliver an adjustable current. Typically Amperages of 100 A or more and output voltages in the Range up to 30 V required. Regardless of this magnetic network Each nuclear spin tomograph contains three gradient vers stronger for controlling the gradient coils for three lower directions that are very close to each other These gradients too amplifiers are adjustable with regard to the output current and can also deliver currents in the order of 100 A. The basic structure of such a nuclear spin tomograph is described for example in the article "Imaging Nuclear resonance "in Funkschau 3/82, pages 43-48.
The object of the invention is to build a nuclear spin tomo to simplify graphs.
This object is achieved in that as Power source for exciting at least one for power supply of gradient coils of the nuclear spin tomograph seen gradient amplifier is used, the Gradient amplifier is regulated so that in the superconducting Magnet the desired current flow results. So that can Elaborate magnetic power supply is no longer necessary. The double use of the Gradient amplifier for the generation of magnetic field gradients and the excitation of the superconducting magnet is a problem possible because the gradient coils anyway when excited are not in operation. By eliminating the magnetic power supply the space requirement of the system is also reduced.
In an advantageous embodiment, the gradient ver more downstream a transformer and a smoothing filter, wherein the gradient amplifier is controlled so that it has a AC voltage supplies. Gradient amplifiers can be used in space generally deliver a higher voltage than for excitation of the superconducting magnet is required. Through the over the output voltage of the gradient amplifier becomes slower adapted the voltage allowed on the superconducting magnet, the available current can then be increased.
Each gradient amplifier is expediently switched on in this way controlled that he an AC voltage with a delivers frequency substantially above the mains frequency. Due to the higher frequency, the transformer and Smoothing filter reduced for the same transmission power will.
Advantageously, three gradient amplifiers can be used are used, the gradient amplifiers being controlled in this way be that they supply a three-phase system on the output side and where the output voltages of the individual gradient amplifiers ker merged via a three-phase bridge rectifier will. This is particularly advantageous when the off power output of a gradient amplifier not only for the Excitement is enough.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to FIG. 1.
Three gradient amplifiers GX, GY and GZ are provided. Each of the gradient amplifiers is followed by a transformer TX-TZ. Furthermore, a three-phase bridge rectifier B with the individual rectifiers B 1- B 6 is provided. The first connections of the secondary windings of the transmitters TX-TZ are each connected to an input of the three-phase bridge rectifier B. The second connections of the secondary windings are interconnected so that a star connection is created. On the DC output side of the bridge rectifier B there is a smoothing element with a choke L in the longitudinal branch and a capacitor C in the transverse branch. The Glättungsfil ter is connected via a switch S to the terminals A 1 , A 2 for the superconducting magnet M. With the connection terminals A 1 , A 2 is also a de-excitation circuit A connected with which the magnetic field can be reduced in a metered manner. In the simplest case, the de-excitation circuit consists of an adjustable resistor. Since this de-excitation circuit is not the subject of the present invention, it will not be discussed in more detail.
In the current branch of the magnet, a current sensor F is also provided, which detects the actual current I actual that flows through the magnet. In addition, the actual voltage value U Ist present at terminals A 1 , A 2 is recorded . The current actual value I actual and the voltage actual value U actual are supplied to a control circuit R, which also receives a current target value I target and a voltage target value U target from a target value transmitter SO. In the control circuit R, a control circuit St for the gradient amplifiers GX, GY and GZ is controlled as a function of the deviation of the respective actual values from the target values.
Gradient amplifiers are general in terms of Requirements for gradient magnetic fields with a fast acting regulation equipped. It is therefore easily possible Lich to control them so that they make a change on the output side Deliver voltage at high frequency. The AC voltages of the Gradient amplifiers GX, GY and GZ are offset by 120 °, see above that there is a three-phase system on the output side. The About sluggish TX, TY and TZ can despite the high frequency high transmission power can be kept small. The About Trager TX-TZ on the one hand adjust the output voltage of the gradient amplifier GX-GZ to that for the Aufer excitation of the magnet required voltage, which in general below the maximum output voltage of the gradient amplifier lies. The voltages on the secondary windings are also present the transformer TX-TZ is available floating, so that it can be easily interconnected. Even the smoothing link LC can due to the high frequency and three-phase current systems can be kept small. The switch S only serves to do so, the arrangement as needed on the superconducting Connect magnets. Because of the good controllability of the Gradient amplifier is a regulation of the arrangement in the rear look at current and voltage on the superconducting magnet possible without any problems.
The use of the gradient amplifiers GX, GY and GZ for the Excitation of the superconducting magnet only requires one little additional effort in the form of three relatively small Transformers, a simple bridge circuit, a simple one Smoothing element and an unproblematic control circuit. The entire magnet network is no longer necessary partly opposite, that an expensive and complex performance comm component with high space requirements. So overall the use of gradient amplifiers for excitation much cheaper.
