Dadurch kann ein "Vor- oder Nachlaufen" bestimmter Kugeln erfolgen. Die Kugeln laufen dann unterschiedlich an den Stegen des Käfigs an. Dies führt zu erhöhter Reibung und kann auch Stegbrüche nach sich ziehen.
