Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the disposal of filter cake containing moist sodium zirconium fluoride salts from the regeneration of pickling solutions.
Workpieces made of zirconium or zirconium alloys are treated with pickling solutions containing HF and HNO 3 . The zirconium as ZrF 4 goes into solution and has to be precipitated from the pickling solution. This is done by precipitating sodium zirconium fluoride salts by adding sodium salts. The precipitated sodium zirconium fluoride salt is filtered off, dried in a dryer and fed to its use (US Pat. No. 4,105,469, EP-PS 00 35 804). However, the filter cake is still in the acidic pH range and washing with water, regardless of the amount of water used and washing time, does not lead out of the acidic pH range. In addition, the salt has a thixotropic property that is retained even when washing. A landfill or further processing is therefore not possible or only with great effort.
The invention is based on the object Neutralize filter cake and the thixotropic Eliminate properties.
This object is achieved according to the invention by mixing the moist filter cake with powdered Ca (OH) 2 .
The powdered Ca (OH) 2 is added in an amount slightly larger than the amount required for neutralization. In this way, any after-reactions are buffered. It is not necessary to subsequently dry the mixture produced in this way. It has surprisingly been found that a dry, prilled product with small beads is obtained which can be transported and packaged very well. It remains pH stable. In contrast to the addition of the powdered Ca (OH) 2 according to the invention, the addition of lime milk - Ca (OH) 2 + H 2 O - resulted in a pulpy product which remained thick despite the use of a filter press. This product would therefore have to be dried before being shipped either to a landfill or for reuse as a source for other products, forming thick, hard lumps. In addition, the resulting filtrate would have to be post-treated in a neutralization system before being released into the sewage system, a certain residual salt load being unavoidable.
A preferred embodiment is that the Mixing takes place in a countercurrent compulsory mixer. This results in a particularly uniform product.
A preferred embodiment is that the moist filter cake is mixed with 25 to 40 parts by weight of Ca (OH) 2 based on 100 parts of filter cake. With a moisture content of the filter cake of about 20 to 30%, this admixture gives very good results with small but sufficient excesses.
Eine vorzugsweise Ausgestaltung besteht darin, daß das
gemischte Produkt in geschlossenen Behältern aufbewahrt
A preferred embodiment is that the mixed product is kept in closed containers. Containers made of plastic are particularly suitable. This allows the product to be transported and deposited very well and the ingress of water is avoided.
There was 25 m 3 of pickling solution in a fall tank, the zirconium content of which had been increased to 23 g / l during pickling. The zirconium content was precipitated down to a residual content of approx. 4 g / l by adding sodium hydroxide solution. The precipitated amount of sodium zirconium fluoride was 1093 kg. The precipitated material was fed to a filter press, in which the residual moisture was reduced to 20 to 30%. The filter cake was charged into a compulsory mixer and mixed with 360 kg of dry, powdery Ca (OH) 2 for 5 min. The temperature of the mixture was raised to about 50 ° C. by the heat of reaction. The compulsory mixer was connected to a suction device for extracting vapors. The dry, neutralized mixed product was filled into plastic drums.
The advantages of the invention are that the filter cake containing moist sodium zirconium fluoride salts neutralized in a simple manner and in a dry, good manageable product can be converted.
