Abstract

In this method of recovering usable gas from refuse by pyrolysis, the refuse is first reduced to pieces 1-50 mm. in size and of at least 75% dry-substance content. It is then put into a heated degassing-drum in which carbonisation gas is produced and sepd. from ash and other matter. The gas is decomposed in a converter to fuel gas, which is cleaned in a washing installation. A number of features of the method, and of the equipment used, are claimed.
