Die übliche Lagerung der in dem sogenannten Tatzenlager des Motorgehäuses liegenden Radachse von Bahnfahrzeugen gab bisher dadurch vielfach zu Betriebsstörungen Anlaß, daß die die Kraftübertragung zwischen den beiden Achsen vermittelnden Zahnräder sich vorzeitig abnutzten und wegen des erheblichen Verschleißes einer häufigeren Auswechslung bedurften. Man griff deshalb bereits zur Anwendung zweiteiliger Zahnräder, wodurch zwar die Auswechslung dieser zwischen den Laufrädern sitzenden Teile erleichtert, nicht aber die Ursache der vorzeitigen Abnutzung beseitigt wurde.
