Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of demodulation phase or frequency modulated signals with such over systems in which a high proportion of amplitude denmodulation (AM) a small proportion of phase modulus lation (PM) and in particular soft keying takes place. Such transmission systems with additional phase or frequency shift keying are used to transfer additional information analog or digital type using the existing Redun danz in AM radio broadcasting. This additional Transmission remains on the radio broadcast reception with usual Receivers without audible influence; but puts on the back obtaining additional information, special conditions, to the fulfillment of which the invention relates. Further There are also general uses for others phase or frequency modulated transmission systems with strong AM interference, for example when remote transmission using narrowband FM, when received high interference and smoke influences must be taken into account.
There are several ways known how high frequency carrier vibrations for transmission phase and / or frequency-modulated information for recovery the information is phase or frequency demodulated can. To the be from the standard and patent literature Known systems include ring demodulators (PHM), counter clock demodulators (PHM), edge demodulators (FM), Riegger circle demodulators (PHM), ratio detectors (FM), coincidence demodulators (FM), phase demodulators with special construction elements, e.g. B. Enneodes (PHM) or double gate FET (PHM) and other forms of product demodulation, the mixing circuits contain (PHM) as well as FM demodulators work according to the meter principle (FM).
In addition, demodulator circuits based on phase locked loops (PLL) are known and widely used (DD-WP H04J / 28 10 113 and other sources cited there), with the aid of which a differentiating phase demodulation (corresponding to frequency demodulation) with noise suppression is possible which does not have the demodulation principles mentioned above. In principle, the PLL demodulators work as phase detectors by comparing the phase of the RF or IF signal of the receiver at one input with the phase-modulated information, and the reference signal of the VCO (voltage-controlled oscillator) at the other input of the phase detector Frequency. A voltage arises at the output of the phase detector which is proportional to the phase difference between the two input signals. A low-pass filter connected downstream of the phase detector (lead-lag filter with downstream simple RC low-pass filter) suppresses all RF or IF-frequency components of the phase detector output voltage and supplies a control voltage at the output which is used to regulate the frequency (and thus initially the phase) of the VCO is used to synchronize it with the frequency of the phase-modulated input signal. The very low lower limit frequency of the lead-lag filter strongly suppresses the noise components of the phase-modulated input signal and the VCO signal, which leads to a noise reduction effect (negative feedback). The lead lag filter influences the control behavior of the PLL with suitable dimensioning of the time constant in such a way that the output voltage of the phase detector is approximately proportional to the differential quotient of the phase change over time, that is to say the instantaneous frequency of the input signal, so that an almost ideal frequency demodulator is produced. The large time constant of the lead-lag filter ensures an inertia of the entire PLL arrangement (memory effect), so that it operates stably after the corresponding "latching" in the holding area. Only extreme impulsive disturbances lead to "disengagement" and thus to failure as can occur in the preferred application.
The mentioned properties of the PLL are also used by a modified AM audio broadcasting system with soft phase shift keying (DD-WP H04J / 28 10 113) in which a simple additional component in integrated circuit technology is provided on the receiver side to recover the discrete additional information. The additional phase demodulator used there contains a limiter amplifier to suppress the AM sound modulation, a PLL demodulator with optimized frequency and timing behavior of the loop to recover the discrete phase information, and a signal conditioning and output stage to regenerate the smoothed and possibly distorted discrete Signals of the additionally transmitted information and to generate the required system output level. The low-pass filter time constants and thus limit frequencies of the total of four RC low-pass filters in the phase demodulator module of the receiver are, based on the problem of the soft phase shift keying in addition to the amplitude modulation by phase angle <180 °, optimal to the shape of the digital phase information to be demodulated mation adapted to ensure a stable, undistorted and undisturbed (interference-free and jitter-free) recovery of the transmitted additional discrete information of a transparent data channel.
Die vier Tiefpaßfilter dieser Schaltung erfüllen folgende Aufgaben:The four low pass filters of this circuit meet the following Tasks:
Low pass, low time constant, high suppression frequent IF residues of the carrier, before branching off the Useful signal of the additional information from the loop fe (common).
- 2nd low pass, very high time constant, lead lag filter (Loop filter), ensures the stability of the PLL and its differentiating effect with high inertia for slow Frequency changes and impulsive disturbances (common).
Low pass, low time constant, which is about the reciprocal the loop cutoff frequency, the open loop gain corresponds and as a system time constant for optimization the time behavior of the recovered, differentiated Phase information is used is also in the Loop inserted.
- - 4. Tiefpaß, Zeitkonstante entspricht etwas der des 3. Tief passes, dient der nachfolgenden Unterdrückung synchroner Störphasenmodulationsanteile der Phasendetektor-Ausgangs spannung vor der Signalregenerierung und liegt außerhalb der PLL-Schleife.- 4th low pass, time constant somewhat corresponds to that of the 3rd low passes, serves the subsequent suppression of synchronous Interference phase modulation components of the phase detector output voltage before signal regeneration and is outside the PLL loop.
These 4 low-pass filters represent a relatively large effort when taking the damping and the adjustment into account, although the interference voltage suppression effect with optimal timing of the demodulated data signal and prepared for the jitter-free regeneration of the additional phase information just modulates the necessary special conditions recognizing strong amplitude modulation. A further improvement of this behavior is in the given arrangement only by at least one more. 5. RC low-pass filter in the signal path, ie outside the PLL loop, possible after the 4th low-pass filter, but this further increases the effort.
The aim of the invention is to improve the qualitative Conditions, particularly insensitive to interference speed of PM demodulation with a reduction in the open wall of low passes, the effort of external scarf processing of the otherwise integrable reception-side scarf determine structure.
Starting from the mentioned goal, Ana shows lysing the technical cause of a defect between two possibilities of increasing quality with size number of low-pass filters on the one hand and efforts the integration, the effort reduction with the multitude of receivers and the increase in reliability that also under an increasing number of low-pass filters suffers, on the other hand. Overcoming this contradiction due to a modified circuit structure with higher interference safety with a lower number of low-pass filters is the Object of the invention.
The invention solves this problem in that the first Low pass filter with the system time constant between Phase detector output on the one hand and the branch to Coupling to the processing branch of the output i gnals and to loop with the second low pass filter, the lead lag filter, on the other hand, and that in the further ver branch of work, loosely coupled to the first low-pass filter pelt, a third before the regeneration and pulse shaper stage low pass filter with approximate system time constant. The loose coupling between the first and third lows Pass filter can be in a first advantageous training realized by an intermediate amplifier be.
A second possibility is that an active filter is used as the third low-pass filter. A third, particularly low-cost option for loose coupling is that the first and third low-pass filters with different R / C ratios are realized with approximately the same RC product.
The special effect of the invention in which way the high immunity to interference is achieved for the purpose of easier Ver Steadiness described in the embodiment.
In der Zeichnung zeigt dieBased on the embodiment is the Er finding explained in more detail. In the drawing shows the
Fig. 1 ein Blockschaltbild des Phasendemodulators und Fig. 1 is a block diagram of the phase demodulator and
Fig. 2 ein vergleichendes Diagramm der Störunterdrückung. Fig. 2 is a comparative diagram of the interference suppression.
After a conventional amplification and limitation of the received signal, not shown, there is a phase demodulation function ψ (t) of the intermediate frequency f IF at the input of the phase detector PD . At the output of the phase detector PD and at the input of the first RC low-pass filter TP 1 , a voltage u D (t) appears , which is also present at the output and thus at the further processing branch as well as at the second low-pass filter TP 2 , the lead lag filter (loop filter) lies. At its output, the RC voltage divider of the smaller time constant τ 2 * = k T · τ 2 (k T = divider factor «1), there is a control voltage with a defined DC voltage component (proportional to the phase difference at the phase detector PD ) and signal component (the integrated signal voltage u D (t) approximately propor tional), which is connected to the control input of the voltage-controlled oscillator VCO. The DC voltage component of this control voltage ensures the stability and inertia of the entire PLL demodulator, while the integrated signal voltage ∫ u D (t) dt causes the differentiating effect of the demodulator within the closed control circuit.
The further processing branch for filtering, regeneration, pulse shaping and generating the desired output level of the recovered (differentiated) phase information at the output of the low-pass filter TP 1 consists in the selected example of an amplifier for decoupling, the third low-pass filter TP 3 , which serves to suppress the additional interference signal, and that known regeneration and pulse former stage F for restoring defined rectangular data signals.
To explain the effect of the invention, a consideration is made in relation to the comparison solution. The first low-pass filter TP 1 after the phase detector PD with the system time constant takes on three tasks compared to the comparison solution - compared to one - which are:
- - Unterdrückung hochfrequenter ZF-Reste des Trägers (übli cher Effekt bzw. 1. Tiefpaß der Vergleichslösung),- Suppression of high-frequency IF residues on the wearer (usual effect or 1st low pass of the reference solution),
Tiefpasses) und- Optimization of the time behavior of the recovered, dif referenced phase information (effect of the 3rd low pass) and
Tiefpasses der Vergleichslösung).- First suppression of synchronous interference phase modulation proportions of phase detector output voltage, effect of 4. Low pass of the comparison solution).
The second low-pass filter TP 2 , the lead-lag filter, is now connected to the first low-pass filter without any change in the overall behavior of the PLL and its dimensions are unchanged and connected directly to the VCO at its voltage divider tap.
The 3rd low-pass filter of the comparison solution can be omitted because its effect is taken over by the first low-pass filter TP 1 , as is the former 4th low-pass filter of the comparison solution, since its effect is also integrated in the 1st low-pass filter.
The third low-pass filter TP 3 , which is connected downstream of the first low-pass filter TP 1 outside of the PLL loop, brings about an additional interference suppression by means of a double low-pass structure in the signal path which is thus realized, and which, with optimal dimensioning, also improves the timing behavior before signal regeneration results (improvement of the effect of the 4th low pass of the comparison solution). The time constant of the third low pass TP 3 corresponds approximately to that of the fourth low pass of the comparison solution.
The determining time constant τ 2 of the second low pass TP 2 is very large (a few seconds). The division ratio, ratio of the small to the large resistance in the low-pass filter TP 2 , depends on the total open-loop gain, which here corresponds to the limit (circular) frequency ω g and is closely related to the system time constant τ 0 of the phase modulator in the modified AM Hearing broadcast system is (0.8 ≦ l g τ 0 ≦ 1).
The output of the 2nd low pass - at the voltage divider tap - is directly connected to the input of the VCO (capacitance diode circuit) connected.
The third low-pass filter TP 3 has a time constant t 3 which is close to the system time constant τ 0 . The output of the third low-pass filter TP 3 is connected to the input of the regeneration and pulse shaping stage F.
The optimal dimensioning of the time constants or limit frequencies of the three low-pass filters, in conjunction with the loose coupling of the low-pass filter TP 3 to the low-pass filter TP 1 , whose time constant τ 1 also corresponds to the system time constant τ 0 , results in increased suppression of interference signals and harmonic amplitude modulation components - by an additional 20 dB / decade - an improvement in the signal form of the useful signal.
The comparative diagram in FIG. 2 illustrates this using three courses of frequency-independent damping. The first attenuation curve a is that of a conventional lead-lag loop filter of a generally known type. The second attenuation curve b is part of the comparison solution with four RC low-pass filters. The third damping curve c illustrates the effect of the invention. The result is an almost jitter-free signal regeneration with maximum eye opening, ie interference suppression.
