Abstract

Method for reducing the internal pressure build-up in a storage container for radioactive wastes, in particular in a repository container for wastes containing metallic, corrodible components and residual water. Besides the radioactive wastes, chemical substances are introduced into the storage container that bind hydrogen chemically and/or oxidise it to water with emission of oxygen, under the thermodynamic parameters obtaining in the storage container.

Description

The invention relates generically to a method for Re reduction of the internal pressure build-up in a storage container, in particular in a repository bin, for radioactive waste, which is waste have metallic, corrosive fractions and residual water. - For pressure-tight sealed storage containers, especially repositories containers, for radioactive waste, the metallic, corrosion sometimes have an internal pressure build-up, which increases with increasing storage time. That can be the safety of Interfere with storage.

The invention has for its object to provide a method with which the described internal pressure buildup can be reduced. Reduction in the context of the invention also means a complete Prevention of internal pressure build-up.

To solve this problem, the invention teaches that in the Lagerbe containers, along with radioactive waste, chemical substances be introduced, the hydrogen under the thermodynamic Zu stand sizes that prevail in the storage container, bind and / or oxidize to water with release of oxygen. After preferred Embodiment of the invention are the radioactive waste and the chemical substances are intimately mixed.

In the context of the invention can in principle be used with a variety of chemical substances. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, chemical substances from the group "CuO, AgOH, AgMnO 4 ", or mixtures thereof, are added. The addition of CuO is only recommended for storage containers that are designed for relatively high temperatures and for storages that take place at sufficiently high temperatures. As chemical substances but also AgO 2 + MnO 2 can be introduced in a mixture. In the context of the invention, it is to work with so-called recombiners. These are chemical sub stances that are used for example in closed vehicle batteries. They cause a recombination of hydrogen and oxygen to water.

Eine bevorzugte Ausführungsform der Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die chemischen Substanzen in bezug auf die ReaktionsgleichungenThe invention is not related to the prior art experiments underlying, showing that the internal pressure build-up on corrosion phenomenon in the interior of the storage container, if the radioactive Waste materials have corrosive metals and residual water, and although in particular those that because of the large surface of me more or less corrosive fractions in radioactive waste oxidize less vigorously and thus corrode. This is water fabric free and bound according to the invention. As far as the hydrogen ge he can no longer contribute to pressure build-up. A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that that the chemical substances with respect to the reaction equations

a) CuO + H₂a) CuO + H₂ - Cu + H₂O- Cu + H₂O b) 2 AgOH + H₂b) 2 AgOH + H₂ - 2 Ag + 2 H₂O- 2 Ag + 2 H₂O c) 2 Ag MnO₄ + 3 H₂c) 2 Ag MnO₄ + 3 H₂ - 3 H₂O + 2 MnO₂ + Ag₂O- 3 H₂O + 2 MnO₂ + Ag₂O d) Ag₂O + 2 MnO₂ + H₂d) Ag₂O + 2 MnO₂ + H₂ - H₂O + 2 Ag + 2 MnO₂- H₂O + 2 Ag + 2 MnO₂ - H₂O + Ag₂O + Mn₂O₃- H₂O + Ag₂O + Mn₂O₃

As in the oxidation of hydrogen water becomes free, a preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized characterized in that additionally water-binding substances, in particular dry cement and / or fine-grained amorphous silica, be introduced. In the context of the invention it is, in addition Ak to introduce coal to other gases that accumulate during storage to bind.
