Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a gas-tight housing bushing for a quartz glass optical fiber according to the generic term of claim 1 and a method for producing a such housing implementation according to the preamble of Claim 6.
In optical communications technology for fiber optics cal components, e.g. B. couplers and / or receiving elements, hermetically sealed bushings for Lichtwel lenleiter, z. B. single-mode optical fiber, needed because Environmental influences, e.g. B. moisture, dust and / or corro sive gases, the functioning of the components deteriorate tern or even destroy them.
These disadvantages can be avoided with the help of housings bushings for fiber optic cables made of glass, in particular those made of quartz glass, in which the optical fiber in is soldered essentially gas-tight into the housing wall. Such housing implementation is such. B. from DE-OS 32 44 867 known. According to the arrangement described there is a passage in a solderable housing wall bore drilled. A piece of pipe is then placed in this soldered, on one end a sleeve-shaped connector piece is put on. This has an inner hole, whose diameter is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the (quartz glass) cladding of the light waveguide ters. It is necessary to at least the outer surface of the jacket least to metallize on a certain length, so that a solder connection can be made there. The light waves the conductor is now threaded into the connector, that the metallized part of the jacket with the connection piece is solderable. Then the light waves conductor with the connector and this with the tube piece soldered so that the gas-tight housing bushing arises.
Such a housing bushing is disadvantageous can only be produced in an uneconomical manner because it several parts are needed that are soldered together Need to become. Are these parts made of one material whose thermal expansion coefficient to that of Optical fiber is adapted, so it is in general required to solder the areas to be soldered with Me to cover tall layers, so that a soldering process over is possible at all. The parts prepared in this way are in an inexpensive way often only by hand solderable. The solder material is generally considered Solder wire fed. Such a procedure is hostile socially.
The invention has for its object a genus to indicate moderate housing implementation, which is possible from ko there are inexpensively producible parts, in particular are suitable for inexpensive mass production.
The invention is also based on the object reliable and inexpensive method for manufacturing provide a generic housing implementation, especially for industrial mass production suitable is.
This problem is solved by the in the characterizing Parts of claims 1 and 6 specified features. Advantageous refinements and / or further developments are the dependent claims.
A first advantage of the invention is that single Lich a single mechanically feasible soldering process is required. This is controllable, so that it is incomplete coming solder joints, e.g. B. porous solder joints avoided will.
A second advantage is that with a housing several housing lead-throughs all necessary soldering bindings can be produced in a cost-effective manner at the same time are.
A third advantage is that with multiple housings all existing bushings can be soldered at the same time are.
A fourth advantage is that for the soldering process no solid or liquid flux is required, so that a subsequent cleaning process of the housing is not necessary. It is therefore excluded from the outset that in Ge Residual flux residues may remain disturbing corrosion of the optical components could.
The invention is described below with reference to exemplary embodiments play with reference to a schematic drawing explained in more detail.
Figs. 1 to 6 show longitudinal sections through various embodiments.
Fig. 1 shows a housing wall 1 , in which there is a through hole 2 . This is expanded funnel-shaped on one side and has a centering recess 2 ' on the other side . The smallest diameter of the passage hole 2 is z. B. 0.3 mm and depends on the outer diameter, for. B. 125 microns, the cladding of the optical fiber 3 , the difference, for. B. 0.1 mm, between the inner diameter of the centering recess 2 ' and the outer diameter of an edge 4' of the hollow body 4 , and the viscosity of the solder material 5 during the soldering process. It is advantageous to choose the smallest diameter of the through hole 2 so that shearing of the optical waveguide 3 is avoided during the soldering process and that the solder material 5 is pressed into the through hole 2 ( Fig. 2).
In the centering recess 2 ' is first disc-shaped solder material 5 and then the hollow body 4 , which has an edge 4' , so that an advantageous large-area solder connection is formed. The hollow body 4 also has a narrowing through hole 6 , the smallest diameter, z. B. 0.2 mm, is slightly larger than the outer diameter, for. B. 0.125 mm of the jacket of the light wave conductor 3 and its largest diameter, for. B. 3 mm, however, is much larger. The optical fiber 3 , the plastic protective layer 3 'has been partially removed, is inserted in the manner shown in the hollow body 4 and this is pressed against the housing wall 1 , z. B. with the help of a spring 7th This arrangement is now in a furnace under reducing protective gas atmosphere, for. B. an H 2 -containing gas, if heated, z. B. to about 300 ° C that the solder material rial, z. B. an alloy of 80% gold and 20% tin (melting point 280%), becomes liquid and the housing wall 1 , the hollow body 4 and the optical waveguide 3 are soldered together. The reducing protective gas prevents the formation of a disruptive oxide layer, so that no flux is required for the soldering process. It is further expedient to choose the diameter of the holes in dependence on the viscosity of the solder material so that the liquid solder material flows into the existing gaps and that a possibly existing oxide layer is mechanically broken open. After the soldering process, a housing bushing according to FIG. 2 is formed . The space between the optical waveguide 3 and the hollow body 4 is covered by a plastic, for. B. epoxy resin, fillable, so that a strain relief and / or a mechanical kink protection for the optical fiber 3 is formed.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the hollow body consists of 4 made of a funnel-shaped sheet metal that in the area of the smallest diameter of the through hole the smallest possible wall thickness, z. B. 30 microns. This enables any existing mechanical stresses to be compensated for after the soldering process.
FIGS. 4 through 6 show embodiments in which the hollow body 4 is cup-shaped and in which one or more (Fig. 6) optical waveguides 3 are solderable.
B. galvanisch erfolgen. Are in all embodiments for the housing wall and / or the hollow body materials, e.g. B. so-called Vacon 11, which has a suitable thermal expansion but do not have soldering coefficients per se, so it is advisable to at least soften the areas to be soldered solderable layers, e.g. B. Ni and Au to coat. This can e.g. B. done galvanically.
