Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a salt bath for heat treatment of steels, in particular for case hardening of components from steel.
So far it has not been possible to harden the case in Salt bath in the form that perform after carburizing in one carburizing bath in another Salt bath a transformation in the pearlite stage ("Pearlizing") and then austenitized and being put off.
Such treatment would have significant benefits for the strength behavior of the treated components bring.
In case hardening, after carburizing in gas, salt bath or powder to produce a martensitic Edge zone are quenched. The easiest way to do this and most economical in that directly from the Carburizing temperature is quenched. That is in In the case of salt bath and gas carburizing, without further ado possible. Prerequisite for this treatment to be leads to the desired mechanical values of the components, is, however, the use of appropriate steel grades (Fine grain steels). When using others Steel grades occur during the carburizing process a generally unacceptable grain growth. Not particularly for low grain growth during case hardening alloyed steels, which are much cheaper are from the carburizing temperature cool slowly to room temperature, open again Warm up hardening temperature and then quench. This Treatment cycle makes neither the gas nor technical difficulties with salt bath or powder carburizing, due to the additional work step it is uneconomical and the risk of default is greater.
One that is both technically and economically feasible Compromise simulates so-called case hardening isothermal conversion. In this method of Carburizing temperature to a temperature clearly cooled below the A₁ conversion ("pearlitized") and held until the conversion is complete. Then is austenitized and quenched.
This process can be carried out in case hardening in gas, if a little awkward. In salt baths such a treatment is not yet possible because none Salt bath composition is known to be permanent Entry of carbonic salt a sufficiently constant Has melting point. Through the adhering to the components Remains of carbonation baths (barium chloride, alkali carbonate, Alkali cyanide) viscosity and melting point increase of these baths continuously so that they very soon become unusable.
It was therefore an object of the present invention Salt bath for the heat treatment of steels, in particular to develop case hardening of steel components, that adheres to the entry of the components Low-viscosity carbonization salts, even in relatively large quantities remains and its melting point is insignificant changed.
According to the invention, this object was achieved by that it is 25 to 35 wt% barium chloride, 35 to 45 wt% Potassium chloride, 15 to 25% by weight sodium chloride and Contains 5 to 15 wt .-% lithium chloride.
Vorzugsweise verwendet man Salzbäder mit 28 bis 33 Gew.-% Bariumchlorid, 37 bis 42 Gew.-% Kaliumchlorid, 17 bis 22 Gew.-% Natriumchlorid und 7 bis 12 Gew.-% Lichtiumchlorid.Salt baths with 28 to 33 are preferably used % By weight barium chloride, 37 to 42% by weight potassium chloride, 17 to 22% by weight sodium chloride and 7 to 12% by weight Lichtium chloride.
These salt baths have a fairly low melting range (Liquidus temperature around 545 ° C, solidus temperature around 510 ° C). Surprisingly, they change with the Carbonic salts (barium chloride, Alkali cyanides, alkali carbonates) neither the viscosity still noticeable the melting behavior of these salt baths. The carbonic salt residues only lead to formation one that is well settled and easy to remove Mud. The viscosity of this bath is so low that it goes well from the parts. The consumption and the introduction of the salts into the following austenitizing bath is therefore small.
As with the introduced carbonic salt, barium chloride got into the bathroom and from there to one Limit of 30% by weight is needed used to compensate for the tow losses Refill salt not to contain barium chloride. For this may preferably be a salt of composition 55 to 65% by weight potassium chloride, 25 to 35% by weight sodium chloride and 5 to 15% by weight of lithium chloride is used will.
Folgendes Beispiel soll das erfindungsgemäße Salzbad erläutern: The following example is the salt bath according to the invention explain:
Sogenannte Kugelkäfige aus einem Stahl 16 MnCr5, ca. 40 mm hoch, ca. 70 mm ⌀, Gewicht ca. 200 g, wurden in Salzbädern folgender Zusammensetzung:So-called ball cages made of steel 16 MnCr5, approx. 40 mm high, approx. 70 mm ⌀, weight approx. 200 g in salt baths of the following composition:
60 Gew.-% Bariumchlorid
10 Gew.-% Natriumcyanid
30 Gew.-% Natriumcarbonat60% by weight barium chloride
10% by weight sodium cyanide
30% by weight sodium carbonate
in Tiegelöfen (Tiegel 800 mm ⌀, 1200 mm Tiefe) aufgekohlt.carburized in crucible furnaces (crucibles 800 mm ⌀, 1200 mm depth).
Die Aufkohlungstemperatur betrug 930°C, die Aufkohlungstiefe 0,6 mm.The carburizing temperature was 930 ° C, the carburizing depth 0.6 mm.
The parts were transferred directly from the carburizing baths in a salt bath of the following composition:
31,2 Gew.-% Bariumchlorid
39,1 Gew.-% Kaliumchlorid
19,9 Gew.-% Natriumchlorid
9,8 Gew.-% Lithiumchlorid.31.2% by weight barium chloride
39.1% by weight potassium chloride
19.9% by weight sodium chloride
9.8% by weight lithium chloride.
The solidus point of this bath was 509 ° C, the Liquidus point at 545 ° C. The bath was in a crucible oven (Crucible 800 mm ⌀, 1200 mm depth, bath capacity 600 l, approx. 950 kg) operated at 610 ° C. In this bathroom was out the carburizing baths every 90 minutes 210 kg net hung, which stayed there for 60 minutes. The carburizing bath averaged with each batch 7.3 kg of salt added to the pearlizing bath, d. H. in three-shift operation approx. 117 kg / 24 h. After expiration the duration of treatment in the pearlitization bath was the Batch transferred to an austenitizing bath.
For three weeks in three shifts the working temperature changed this Pearlizing baths are not. Have been due to the bathroom large amounts due to the high viscosity of the carbonation bath of carbonic salt. The pearlitization bath is in contrast, much more fluid. Therefore, the Pearlizing bath less salt carried out than imported. On the other hand, the large quantities led too much sludge on carburized salt. The predominantly from barium chloride and sodium carbonate existing sludge settled very well and was easy to remove from the bathroom. The resulting Losses in the pearlitization bath were continuous balanced with a salt mixture of the following composition:
60 Gew.-% Kaliumchlorid
30 Gew.-% Natriumchlorid
10 Gew.-% Lithiumchlorid.60% by weight potassium chloride
30% by weight sodium chloride
10% by weight lithium chloride.
The procedure is with the salt bath according to the invention the desired treatment sequence (carburizing in a salt bath, isothermal transformation in the pearlite stage, austenitizing, Quenching) without difficulty and Problems possible.
