Abstract

The h.v. winding for a transformer consists of a set of pancake windings, arranged in pairs, forming double windings. Connected across selected pairs are voltage dependent variable resistances. The lower voltage end of the composite winding is connected to one end of a single layer coarse stepping winding and this is connected to a parallel single layer fine stepping winding. Parallel voltage dependent variable resistances are also used. Windings at the h.v. input end of the main winding are directly parallel switched by voltage dependent resistances and also the most highly loaded windings. Further variable resistances are also connected across the ends of the two single layer stepping windings.
