Description
The invention relates to a method for generating a layer of glassy metal on one metallic base body according to the preamble of Claim 1 or a device for Execution of the procedure.
From US-PS 41 22 240 it is known the surface of a metallic material by a Melt the energy source and then the Control cooling so that the surface layer frozen like a glass. The heat conduction, that is Cooling down, does not take place here melted base itself.
It is over in the manufacture of amorphous metal wires DE-OS 23 64 131 known, the metal flow, for example Inject water or ice-cold saline.
From DE-B i. ed. F. E. Luborsky, Amorphons Metallic Alloys 1983, pp. 26-41 it is also known that the surface to be melted from another Material can consist.
Another method is from DE-OS 34 42 009 known, being a molten metal in thin Layer on a cooling body is applied and by the high cooling speed in connection with the very small layer thickness amorphous band is generated. Such tapes have a thickness of 50 up to 150 µ with a width of over 20 mm. Of the so produced thin strips it is known that they ver very ver in the amorphous state wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, however due to their brittleness are difficult to handle and process.
The object of the invention is to provide a method and an apparatus create to manufacture such metal glasses on a larger scale, to increase the achievable film thickness and in particular a loading layering of a carrier material with metallic glass lichen.
In a method of the generic type in claim 1 So according to the invention a solid metallic material on it Melted surface and then in a metal bath cooled to a melting temperature at normal pressure of below 100 ° C.
As a material for the metal bath exerting the cooling effect the very good heat transfer properties, essentially sodium or an alloy based on sodium. The melting temperature of the metal for the metal bath should be below 100 ° C at normal pressure lie. However, a sodium-potassium alloy with a Melting temperature below room temperature. The procedure can be perform particularly advantageous if a langge as a workpiece stretched, almost endless good, such as tape or Wire. Before immersing it in the cooling bath, it becomes a solid metallic one Material melted on its surface. This can be done by belie usual heat. However, a method is preferred variant of melting, inductively by means of a high frequency quenzspule if the workpiece to be treated from ferromagnetic Material exists. With appropriate dimensions of this material remains the core as the carrier material is crystalline and the surface layer is transferred in an amorphous state. This process variant lends itself whenever a composite material is produced should be, whose surface deviates from the core mechanical properties should have shafts. Sheet metal can therefore be produced using this method be generated with one or both sides of the surface layer, the be be particularly hard, wear-resistant or corrosion-resistant should. Of course, this also applies to pipes for special purposes. For the treatment of pipes is a featured another special process step within the invention see. The tube is immersed in a metal bath on the underside and is longitudinal on the exposed surface using a line inductor a surface line melted and then during the rotation quenched the pipe. Another special process variant is that the surfaces intended for glass formation Layer of the material is formed from a metal powder on the material to be treated has been rolled on, for example. The applied metal powder layer can art be equal. However, it is also possible with this method by corresponding use of powders of other chemical compounds setting certain properties of the surface layer.
This surface layer can of course also by plasma spraying be applied. The layer applied by powder is at Pass through the heater and is melted naturally metallic tight.
Only materials with a continuously amorphous structure should be used generated, the invention can also be used. The Backing material then offers in the manufacture and production of the Layer an auxiliary device that handles the amorphous Layer relieved. The crystalline part of the composite can can be removed mechanically or by etching in any manner and it becomes a purely amorphous layer, i.e. a metal glass foil receive.
The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the drawings, the drawings of course only show exemplary embodiments.
