Abstract

The lock for a door or french window has an actuating rod (2) with a bolt (2a). The actuating rod is in two parts which are connected by a plate (4). This plate has a toothed rack (34) formed on one edge which engages a pinion (43). This pinion is connected by a clutch to a second pinion which forms part of a gear train actuated by the cylinder lock (32).S The clutch between the pinions (42,43) is held in the disengaged position by a spring. The clutch can only be engaged by means of an additional key (45).
