The present invention relates to a compact gas cell integrated in a heatable metal block for high temperatures and high pressure. Because of the very short light path, the distance between the windows must be maintained as precisely as possible, which is achieved by the hardest possible seals (6) on the outside of the window (4). The windows (4) are sealed off from the gas space (1) by a softer seal (5), an additional harder sealing ring (7) preventing the soft seal (5) from being crushed. For thermal insulation of the windows (4) and to prevent condensation on the inside of the windows (4), these are also surrounded on the outside by chambers (10), the windows (13) of which no longer have to be pressure-resistant.
Description
The present invention relates to a heatable infrared gas cell according to the preamble of the main claim. One that is often used in industrial measurement technology Infrared spectrometry is the measuring method for analyzing gases. The basic principle of absorption optical Gas analysis is that light energy emanating from a radiator charges one with the material to be measured Cuvette passes through a defined path length and is weakened there. To be selective To achieve light attenuation, the wavelength range has to be filtered out of the radiation beforehand. in which the substance component to be detected has a characteristic absorption. The more of that absorbing component is contained in the mixture, the more the radiation is weakened. The intensity the radiation leaving the cuvette is measured at the receiver. The signal obtained is a measure for the concentration of the detection component. An advantage of this technique is that homeopolar diatomic Gases as well as the monatomic noble gases, which have no infrared absorption spectrum, cannot be detected and therefore do not appear as interfering components from the outset.
So there is so-called long-path cuvettes for the detection of very low concentrations of individual components, in which the light is deflected several times by mirrors to create a greater penetrated layer thickness
Also it is known to be very laying down more precise measurement conditions to thermostate such cuvettes. When using such measuring devices in process monitoring The aim is to measure the process gas as soon as possible and to focus on a special one Properties of the measuring device Considerable measuring gas preparation to be avoided in order to avoid undesired To avoid signal delays.
For some special applications, however, no suitable cuvettes are known so far Previously known cuvettes a measurement is only possible after lowering the temperature and pressure, whereby a separation of the condensable mixture component is first necessary. Without such a separation, this component would condense on the windows of the cuvette and make a measurement impossible. One such application is, for example, in coal gasification in front where a process pressure of 40 occurs bar at a gas temperature of 400-500 0 C. The gas composition is approximately 40% (mol%) H2, 44% H20,6% CO, 6% CO2 and only 4% CH4. Despite the presence of other infrared-active components, it is possible to selectively measure CH4 in terms of the spectral ranges. In addition, because of the specified partial pressure, an extremely short light path within the cuvette is sufficient for monitoring the concentration over a wide range.
The object of the present invention is therefore to create an infrared gas cell which is suitable for the special applications described above. The short light path required for the analysis, which, however, must be precisely known, makes it necessary to use the windows in such a way that they do not shift when the pressure is applied alternately and thereby falsify the measurement result. Furthermore, the cuvette should be able to be kept at a high temperature, although the process temperature of 500 ° C. does not necessarily have to be reached, but the condensation temperature of individual components should be significantly exceeded. The cuvette should be designed for temperatures of at least 250 0 C.
In einem Prospekt der Firma Du Pont deThe features of the characterizing part of the main claim serve to solve this problem. The for the Window materials suitable for the specified conditions, especially sapphire (AI2O3), are relatively brittle, so that any contact with metallic components must be avoided when holding them. on the other hand However, the distance between the windows should change when pressure is applied and when the load changes several times do not change. It is therefore proposed according to claim 1, the window to the outside for pressure-free Support the side with a plastic gasket that is as hard as possible. In a brochure from the Du Pont de
On the pressure side, the seal can done by chambered sealing rings made of a more elastic material, which is also one of the above The material known from the manufacturer under the name »Kalrez« is suitable. The windows mounted in this way are good sealed without any significant displacement occurring when pressure is applied
In a further embodiment of the invention it is proposed according to claim 2, concentric to the soft sealing ring on the inside of the window to attach another seal that is as hard as possible, which This seal, which is slightly less thick than the soft seal, supports the window facing the gas space should prevent the soft seal from being squeezed out when the flange holding the window is tightened and the window gets in contact with the metal.
In a further embodiment of the invention \ >> d in the claim 3 suggested that the windows are wrapped on their periphery with a plastic, in particular with a tape made of polytetrafluoroethylene. This prevents anything from being decentralized Insertion of the window creates contact with the surrounding metal, which leads to cracks in the window material could lead.
Another embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 4. Since the suitable window materials are all poor heat conductors, direct contact of the outside of the window with the ambient temperature would inevitably result in the inside of the window also being cooled. Because of the sealing rings and the contactless installation of the windows, this could not be prevented even by increased heating of the surrounding metal housing. This cooling down of the windows would on the one hand result in undesirable thermal stresses and on the other hand, under certain circumstances, would result in condensation on the inside of the windows. It is therefore proposed in claim 4 to arrange a normal pressure chamber for thermal insulation of the windows in front of the windows of the gas space, which in turn are separated from the surroundings by a temperature-resistant, translucent window. The normal pressure chamber is due to the surrounding heated metal housing approximately at the internal temperature of the gas space, so that the pressurized windows are not additionally thermally unevenly loaded and condensation station is avoided on their insides. The windows, which separate the normal pressure chambers from the environment, in turn no longer need to be pressure-resistant, so that the requirements can easily be met, for example by using materials such as calcium fluoride (CaF 2 ).
In a further embodiment of the invention, the claim 5 suggested that the normal pressure chambers have connections for flushing with a non-infrared active gas (ζ. B. nitrogen) or for evacuation. This configuration also enables precise measurements of substances that are in the Ambient air and thus in the normal pressure chambers can be present. The evacuation of the chambers causes only a slightly higher load on the inner ones, which are already under high pressure Window and can also be held out by the outer panes.
In claim 6 it is proposed in an additional embodiment of the invention that the gas space in a compact metal cuboid is integrated to which the flanges for the windows are screwed. This compact The construction has the advantage that thermostatting is easy due to the good conductivity of the metal is to be accomplished.
In addition, it is proposed in claim 7 that one or more heating cartridges in the metal cuboid.
Ein spezielles Ausführungsbeispiel mit den erfindungswesentlichen Teilen ist in der Zeichnung dargestellt und zwar zeigt dieare set, whereby thermocouples for regulating and / or monitoring the temperature are also available are.
