Description
AUSGEGEBEN AM 12. NOVEMBER 1920ISSUED NOVEMBER 12, 1920
The invention relates to the known circuit for self-induction ignition of electric gas or vapor lamps, in which a fast-acting, electromagnetically operated breaker is shunted to the lamp. And is excited by a solenoid located in the main circuit of the lamp !. Usually one will use evacuated breakers with a fixed contact and a contact movable by the solenoid or similar devices. Such facilities, however, have drawbacks that arise from the high voltage art of the breaker contacts and easily destroy the device. Is z. As the mains voltage · so low that a permanent arc can not be formed in the gas or vapor lamp, one of the breakers work so .If continually as self-breaker until you turn off the power. The same occurs if the gas lamp is damaged or if the connection poles are accidentally mixed up. The continuous work of the interrupter, which occurs in all these cases, easily leads to damage of the same, in that the contacts z. B. give off gas, which spoil the vacuum of the interrupter by welding them together, in that a permanent arc is formed between the contacts and the interrupter tube bursts, etc.
Bogenbildung zwischen den Unter-The invention avoids all of these inconveniences by the following arrangement: In the shunt to the lamp behind the interrupter, an air safety device according to the German patent 285877 is switched on. The gas pressure in this fuse, material and arrangement of the electrodes, filling gas, etc. are chosen so that the fuse is not broken down by voltages that are below the minimum voltage required by the lamp for trouble-free operation. Is the lamp z. B. intended for 220 volts, uridi requires at least 200 volts for trouble-free operations, so you will set up the evacuation so that it will not break down below 200 volts. If the mains voltage then falls below this value, the ignition device does not even come into operation. If the evaporation fuse is used as a directional resistor with an anode made of a metal that is difficult to evaporate, with a cathode made of an easily evaporable metal, e.g. B. an alkali metal or a compound or an alloy of the same built, so forms in the reverse. th current direction, ie when the difficult to vaporize anode becomes cathode, no arc in the fuse, and the ignition device does not come into operation either. As a result, it is also secured in the event of the connection poles being mixed up. In the event that the gas or steam lamp is damaged or faulty, but otherwise everything is switched correctly and the required voltage is present, the ignition device is constantly in operation, the spark or. Arching between the lower
However, breaker contacts are made in that the arc fuse is switched in series with the interruption point is greatly diminished. This reaction of a second discharge path one of the first preceding it is well known.
Die Zeichnung veranschaulicht ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung. Vom positiven Pol beginnend, sind1 in Reihe geschaltet derThe drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention. Starting from the positive pole, 1 are connected in series
' After 3, the line splits and goes to the fixed contact once 4 of the evacuated interrupter, also to the anode 5 of the gas or steam lamp 9; 6 denotes the cathode of the lamp . and is directly connected to the negative pole. 7 denotes the movable one Contact of the breaker, which is connected in series with the vacuum fuse 8. Of the ignition current flowing before the gas or vapor lamp is ignited so goes over 1, 2 ,. 3, 4, the movable contact 7 and the evacuation fuse 8. If the voltage is too low, this auxiliary current does not come about at all, if it is mixed up the connection poles in FIG. 8 are not sufficient to address the solenoid 3 Current, so that the ignition device does not come into operation either. Also works 8 'dampens the interruption sparks between 4 and 7.
From the above it follows that the breakdown voltage of the evacuation must always be chosen in such a way that only those voltage values break through which are sufficient to operate the gas or steam lamp. But she may will not break down at lower voltages, otherwise the breaker would stay in action all the time, but the lamp would not come on. It is also important that the air leakage protection, as can be seen from the figure, with respect to the poles of the network is correctly connected, namely in such a way that the easily evaporable electrode is at the negative pole lies. In the opposite circuit, none of the evacuated air safety devices could be activated of the interrupter form a sufficient discharge current.
