Abstract
Description
B. Bentonlt. zuzugeben. Ein Beispiel hierfür (stIt is known that molding sands, which are intended for the production of casting molds such as those in gray, tempered and nodular cast iron as well as for aluminum, magnesium, copper and zinc alloys are used, carbon-containing Additions in addition to the usual clay compound molds, such as B. Bentonlt. admit it. An example of this (st
DE-OS 19 52 357). Hierdurch wollte man die Usher verwendeten Kohlenstaube ersetzen und die beschriebenen thermoplastischen Kunststoffe einsetzen, Insbesondere In der Annahme, daß hierdurch In Gießformen Glanzkohlenstoff unter dem Einfluß der Gießtemperatur gebildet wird, der die3 »Hard coal dust, which is added in particular to improve the surface quality of the castings obtained to enhance. The addition of coal dust takes place on the assumption that when pouring through his Gas formation and the coating of the quartz grains with coal prevent the sand from burning on the casting and thus a smooth and clean surface is created. A> ".; i was found to use Coal dust in the molding sand - to compensate for the expansion of the sand and to avoid sand fans contributes. Another proposal is that the addition of a thermoplastic in non-foamed Unsubstituted polymer-solubilized hydrocarbon form, e.g. B. from polymers of styrene. There is ethylene or propylene (see. DE-OS 19 52 357). This wanted the Usher used coal dust replace and use the thermoplastics described, in particular on the assumption that that as a result, lustrous carbon is formed in casting molds under the influence of the casting temperature, which the
In oxidierender bzw. reduzierender Atmosphäre abgegebenen*> Surrounds the grains of the molding sand with a skin or encases the quartz grains of the molding compound. Another proposal is to add resins to the jar sand which are obtained as hydrocarbon polymers in the form of so-called petroleum resins from petroleum distillation (cf. DE-OS 2064 700). This solution is also based on the assumption that under the conditions of the casting heat a partial volatilization of the additives takes place and then lustrous carbon is deposited from the gas phase, which then causes the separation between metal and molding material. However, the goals achieved are still highly unsatisfactory, especially from the point of view of environmental protection at the workplace. The following table 1 lists the products used so far and the standardized ones. Internationally accepted measuring methods, ie DIN 51 720% values of the volatile constituents measured during the pouring heat. The following table 2 shows the emissions released from various products between 400 and 700 ° C in an oxidizing or reducing atmosphere

According to all previous methods, the effect of the previously used carbonaceous? "Additives on the volatilization of hydrocarbon compounds occurs under the conditions of casting heat, after which, after the formation of a reducing atmosphere, the so-called lustrous carbon above 650 ° C separates. The lustrous carbon formed is supposed to separate the liquid metal from the casting molding compound effect by enveloping the grains of the casting sand.

From this it can be seen that the thermal load during the casting process in the Gleßerelformsanümcn. which contain the additives (carbon carriers) used according to the invention, the released The amount of gas is significantly lower. In general, it can be observed that the jet of flames when pouring the hot liquid metal in the casting molds, as is the case when using the previously known additives such. B. based on Gas coal is common and happens when the volatile components released in the molding sand are ignited Do not use molding sands with the carbon carriers used as additives according to the invention occurs more. The amount of carbon carriers added to regenerate the molding sand can be increased by 25 up to 50 hours, with the result that the environmental impact in the foundry is reduced to a minimum will. Numerous gas studies have confirmed that when using carbon carriers with a volatile content of 8 to 10% wafer, in addition to the reduction in hydrocarbon - «> compounds the content of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere at the pouring line and unpacking station is reduced by approx. 20 ppm. When using carbon carriers with a content of volatile components from 40 to 45t wafer, the CO value increases there to 80 to 100 ppm, which is the MAK limit of 50 ppm is clearly exceeded. In view of the previous teachings in the prior art, it is surprising that in spite of the greatly reduced amounts of volatile constituents contained in the additives, it is precisely that The surface of the casting is free from defects, such as ribbon ribs and the like. Is the separation between molding sand and Gießstücfc runs properly, and this with a greatly reduced amount of additive to the molding sand.
The combination of the crystalline carbon products with anthracite or lean coals as admixed carbon products has proven to be particularly advantageous. Anthracite and lean coals react during the molding process, even at low temperatures (150 to 400 0 C) with the In FormhohJraum present w Luftsauerstüff, and thus provide very rapidly a reducing atmosphere, the prerequisite Is ". That the crystalline KohlenstoFTprodukte now very low Suffer losses during or after the casting process.
The additives to foundry sand masses form an ideal protective layer between the liquid metal and the Molding sand compound, which prevents reactions between the molten metal and the molding sand.
Another advantage of using the additives (carbon carriers) used according to the invention is the low amount Water requirement of the molding sand formed in this way during the preparation process, since according to the invention The additives used (carbon carriers) have a significant impact on the conventional carbon products have a smaller surface.
% The flow and compression behavior of the molding sand to which the additives are added is also improved, so that the additives (carbon carriers) used according to the invention considerably reduce the frictional resistance of the clay-coated quartz bodies. %
In addition to the technical foundry advantages listed, the molding sand and the additives, the environmental pollution in the foundry is considerably reduced. In the Federal Republic of Germany alone, around 70,000 t / year of carbon carriers = additives to foundry sands on a carbon basis with a proportion of volatile components around 38 to 40% are used in the Federal Republic of Germany, i.e. around 20,000 t / year of hydrocarbon compounds are used in given off the atmosphere. Based on the volatile content of approx. 40%, 20,000 t / year of hydrocarbon compounds correspond to 10,612,000 m 3 of gas, 85,400 kg of tar and 272,000 kg of benzene.

The GuRs'ück tends to form veins and it was found that veins are formed increases, the higher the volatile components are in the carbon carrier.
Samples 1-5 do not show any veins, whereas samples 6 and 7 show a strong tendency to veins and in the case of the Sample 8 showed only weak beginnings of leaf veins to be vellumized.
