Abstract

Wet fabric (1) running through a stenter is dried by superheated steam above 150 deg.C, and generated by evaporation of moisture in the fabric, specifically by blowing air against the fabric through openings (10) in tunnels (42,52) housing air circulation fans (2,3). The stenter chamber (9) pref. has a bottom exhaust outlet (8), and the openings (10) through which air discharges from the tunnels are of venturi form and long and narrow, and have parallel guide slats for the steam. Pref. the exhaust opening (8) has a damper which opens only to relieve excess pressure.
