Beschreibung:Description:
The invention relates to a foldable access ramp for wheelchair users in vehicles.
In recent years, many major vehicle manufacturers have introduced the model type "large-capacity sedan", also known as "van", onto the vehicle market. This type of vehicle offers a larger and more variable interior than conventional passenger cars, without showing any significant disadvantages in terms of vehicle characteristics. It is therefore increasingly being used to transport wheelchair users, although the required interior height is usually not sufficient for a wheelchair user. In order to create the necessary headroom, the vehicle floor is lowered in the area of the wheelchair parking space, usually by means of a wedge-shaped cutout in the rear of the vehicle. Traditionally, a hinged ramp is attached to the now lower loading edge. This ramp is usually perpendicular to the vehicle floor, parallel to the vehicle door, and is folded out towards the street for the wheelchair user to enter. If no person in a wheelchair is being transported, the ramp remains in a vertical position. This has the following disadvantages: The vehicle is identified by non-disabled citizens as a "disabled vehicle" and could cause reservations about driving in this vehicle if it is used as a multifunctional taxi, for example. Many non-disabled people (unfortunately) still have reservations about driving in vehicles designed for disabled people. Furthermore, loading the vehicle, for example with suitcases, is made more difficult because the ramp has to be folded out and in and the wedge-shaped cutout in the vehicle floor does not provide a completely flat surface.
The invention is based on the object of creating a foldable ramp for wheelchair users in vehicles in order to create a flat surface in the interior of the vehicle and to store the ramp inconspicuously.
The invention will be explained in more detail using an embodiment and the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 shows the ramp in position E, ready for a wheelchair user to enter or exit.
Fig. 2 shows the ramp in position D, in case of wheelchair transport.
Fig. 3 shows the ramp in position C if no wheelchair user is being transported.
According to the invention, the problem is solved in that the loading ramp (1) is attached to the (lowered) loading edge (2) of the vehicle floor with a hinge (A), is divided crosswise at the level of the original vehicle floor (3) and is also provided with a further hinge (B) there. The latter now allows the upper part of the ramp to be folded into the interior of the vehicle so that it covers the cutout in the vehicle floor (4) (position C). If the ramp is shorter than the cutout in the vehicle floor, an extension that is attached to the ramp itself or connected to the vehicle floor in a suitable manner can be used to completely cover the cutout.
If wheelchair users are to be transported, the ramp must be unfolded from this position. A recessed handle (8) is fitted in the middle of the upper half of the ramp and allows it to be lifted in order to raise the ramp perpendicular to the vehicle floor. In this position D, the hinge (B) is stiffened with the help of a lock so that the upper part of the ramp now forms a stable plane with the lower part. As the ramp is unfolded further, it is rotated around the axis of the hinge (A) until the edge (5) of the ramp rests on the road (position E).
After the wheelchair user has entered the vehicle via the ramp, the ramp is folded up until it is locked in position D, perpendicular to the vehicle floor and parallel to the door, in a known manner. When the wheelchair user exits, the procedure is reversed; the ramp can now be used again to cover the cutout in the vehicle floor (position C).
The locking of the hinge (B) can be done in different ways. Since access ramps for wheelchair users should have a side limiting strip (6) of 8 cm in height according to DIN No.: 75078, Part 1, the locking device can be attached there (location of the locking device in area 9). Using bolts, latches, snap fasteners, etc., the limiting strips are firmly connected to each other on both sides in the unfolded position of the ramp (lower and upper parts of the ramp are in line, position D) in the known manner. Furthermore, belt locks (7) (e.g. from passenger restraint systems in cars), which are attached to the lower side of the ramp above and below the hinge (B), can fix the ramp in the position described. In this way, the locks engage automatically when the ramp is unfolded and can be released again by pressing a button. This enables simple and quick handling.
The invention offers the following advantages, especially for vehicles with a cut-out and lowered vehicle floor:
The ramp for wheelchair access can also be used to cover the floor cutout. This restores the level for easy loading of the vehicle and allows the ramp to be stowed away unobtrusively. The invention enables the ramp to be handled quickly and easily to switch from one function to another. The vehicle is not identified as a disabled vehicle.
