Stanzniete dienen der Verbindung zweier flacher Werkstücke. Der Stanzniet wird hierbei unter Bildung zweier Stanzlöcher durch die Werkstücke gedrückt. Um das Schaftende herum wird in das Blech eine Ringnut geprägt, so daß Material in die Schaftnut gedrückt wird, die nahe dem Schaftende angeordnet ist.Punch rivets are used to connect two flat workpieces. Besteht das obere Werkstück aus Kunststoff, kann es zum gesamten Ausfüllen der Schaftnut mit Kunststoff kommen, so daß die Nietverbindung nicht brauchbar ist. Der Stanzniet gemäß Figur 1 weist eine Schaftnut 1 auf, welche im Querschnitt trapezförmig ausgebildet ist. Bei dem Material des oberen Bleches A handelt es sich um ein weiches Material. Beim Einstanzen des Niets wird durch die obere Kante 2 der Nut 1 Material vom oberen Blech A abgeschert und gelangt in die Nut 1. Wird um das Schaftende herum die Nut 7 geprägt, so gelangt nur ein Teil des Materials des unteren Blechs B in die Nut 1.
