Description
Collars, especially for animals, have been used by humans for many centuries. They were invented to fix, control and train animals in conjunction with a leash. Initially, the collar and leash consisted of one part, i.e. a loop or knot was attached to a cord or leash, which was then placed around the animal's neck.
As this development progressed, leashes and collars were separated. Separate collars were developed that were permanently attached to the neck; starting with metal straps that were adjusted to the neck and were firmly closed, through chain straps to leather or even plastic straps that were provided with an adjustable lock so that they could be individually adjusted to any neck size. Commercially available collars are equipped with attachment options for a leash. A metal eyelet is preferably used here, into which a rotating snap hook is clipped. The contact achieved between human and animal with this type of attachment is not optimal. The leash sags or tightens suddenly when a person is walking a dog, for example. If the dog turns abruptly, the person has no control over the animal at all, i.e. the person can only exercise limited control over the animal.
Improved designs that were developed specifically for Bündenhunde provide optimal contact between humans and animals, but are very complex and expensive to construct and are therefore too impractical for the general public, e.g. dog owners.
A very useful further development of a collar is the grip collar (American patent 5,379,726). This collar is a very solid and wide dog collar with a handle permanently integrated into it . In addition to the possibility of attaching a leash using two permanently attached eyelets, this construction enables direct control of the animal using the permanently attached handle . This unitary construction of collar and handle gives the person not only the opportunity to hold the animal back, but also to control or stop the animal from attempting to twist sideways or backwards. In addition to this direct introduction of force from the person into the animal, the grip collar also conveys intensive subjective contact with the animal due to the person's immediate proximity.
Disadvantages of this design are the permanently raised handle, which forces the collar to twist sideways due to its own weight, and the handle collar forming a single unit, which results in high production costs.

The invention specified in claims 1-7 is based on the problem of developing an inexpensive control and fixation option for commercially available animal collars, which can be quickly installed and does not interfere with the animal's freedom of movement.
This problem is solved with the features listed in protection claims 1-7: handle, preferably foldable, with the option of adapting to commercially available animal collars, particularly for better control and steering of an animal.
The invention makes it possible to quickly and inexpensively equip commercially available animal collars with a handle for better control and steering.
The handle's brackets, which are equipped with a quick-release fastener, can be easily attached to an animal collar and form an optimal connection between the collar and the preferably pivoting handle.
The preferably pivoting handle allows direct and quick influence on the animal and ensures optimal control in all directions of movement.
Another advantage of this design is the handle, which is preferably designed to be pivotable, which can simply be swung downwards when not in use and thus does not restrict the animal's freedom of movement. This also has the advantage that the collar is prevented from twisting.
