Handelsübliche Schwenkauslegerdrehgelenke bestehen aus einem Gelenkbock und einem Drehgelenk, sind vornehmlich aus Aluminium gefertigt und haben kein Gleitlager und keine Welle. Die Drehachsen sind einfache Nietbolzen aus dem gleichen Material, aus dem auch die anderen Bauteile gefertigt sind (in Ausnahmefällen Nietbolzen aus nichtrostendem Stahl). Durch die Reibung zwischen den Materialien bei hohen Druckbeanspruchungen, wie sie auf diese Teile vorkommen, wird die Beweglichkeit der Schwenkausleger gegenüber der Kettenwerkswanderung ungemein erschwert. Besonders bei Auslegern in starken Innenbögen ist eine reibungslose Regulierung der Fahrleitung durch das Kettenwerk nicht gegeben.Commercially available swivel boom swivel joints consist of a swivel bracket and a swivel joint, are primarily made of aluminum and have no plain bearings or shaft.
