Abstract

An open network structure of knitted or woven fabric, made of multifilament hybrid yarn contg. two sorts of filaments (A) and (B) in a wt. ratio of (20:80)-(80:20), pref. (40:60)-(60:40), and opt. up to 40 wt% other filaments (C). Component (A) consists of textured filaments with a m.pt. of more than 180 (pref. above 220, esp. pref. above 250) deg. C. (B) consists of filaments with a m.pt. of less than 220 (pref. below 200, esp. pref. below 180) deg. C, and the m.pt. of (B) is at least 20 (pref. at least 40, esp. pref. at least 80) deg. C below the m.pt. of (A). Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of the above thermally bondable structure by weaving or knitting smooth fabric or fabric with a relief pattern, in which the yarn which is supplied to the loom or knitting machine contains at least 30 (pref. at least 70) % yarn as above.
