Im Flugzeugbau sind Vorflügel oder Spaltflügel für Langsamflug-Eigenschaften und als Hilfsmittel gegen den "überzogenen Flugzustand" bekannt.
Im Ventilatarenbau (Radial- und Axialventilataren) müssen aftmals zur Erzielung eines möglichst geräuscharmen Laufes niedrige Umfangsgeschwindigkeiten des Läufers und niedrige Luftgeschuindigkeiten angestrebt werden. Bei herkömmlich bekannten Ausführungen scheitert das daran, daß die Luftströmung am Flügel des Axialventilators oder an der Schaufel des Radialventilators abreißt.
Das gleiche betrifft auch Ventilatoren und Gebläse, die Luft oder Gase gegen hohe Drücke fördern müssen.
Durch die Verwendung von Vorflügeln kann der Strömungsabriß in vielen Fällen ujeitestgehend verhindert werden.

    Flügelräder-bziii. Laufräder van Axial- Dder Radialventilatoren dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Flügel bzuj. Schaufeln mit Vorflügeln ausgerüstet ader als Spaltflügel ausgeführt sind. Siehe dazu Abb. 1 + 2. + 3.
