Zweckmäßig kann als Kupfergesenk ein Stahlstempel mit einer Kupferauflage geeigneter Dicke, beispielsweise einer mehrere Millimeter starken Kupferplatte, dienen. Auf diese Weise sind beliebig viele Einsatzplatten mit identischen Oberflächenmustern von einem einzigen Stahleinsatz mit geringern Aufwand herstellbar. Das Kupfergesenk erlaubt dabei auch in weit auseinanderliegenden Zeitabschnitten die Nachlieferung identischer Stahleinsätze.
