This problem is through the ever-increasing perfection of the windshields made of laminated safety glass and through the increasing use of seat belts, especially by the front occupants of motor vehicles, largely resolved. As far as windshield-related developments are concerned that relate to the So-called "external security" related, namely security against falling rocks or the like, affected those With regard to the laminated safety glass, only aspects to be taken into account and taken into account the motor vehicle itself and its optimization regarding its inmates.
It is known, however, that a large part of the traffic injured, even the greater part of them, did not Vehicle occupants are, rather, pedestrians and Cyclists colliding with motor vehicles. The development trend In modern automobiles, the aim is to make the bonnet as flat as possible and from the Pull the windshield downwards at an angle. So were the Pedestrians who collide with the vehicle are caught by the bonnet at stomach height and are simply thrown away, especially to the side, it has recently been observed that pedestrians using a modern design Motor vehicle collide, for example sliding face down over the hood and preferably with the head open hit the wide windshield. By the pedestrian's head hitting the windshield there is a considerable risk of injury, which is the case with both of the windshield systems used so far, that is, for toughened safety glass and laminated safety glass, is roughly the same size.

Da beim Auftreffen des in einen UnfallBecause when it hit the in an accident
Die Verletzungsgefahr bei FußgMnger-Kraftfahrzeug-ünfällen ist so groß, daß sowohl bei Vervrendung von Einscheiben-Sicherheitsglas als auch bei Verwendung von Verbundsicherheitsglas gelegentlich der Kopf des auf die Windschutzscheibe geschleuderten Fußgängers abgetrennt, zumindest aber schwer verletzt werden kann.with a motor vehicle entangled pedestrians on the windshield not only, as with the so-called "Internal security" of motor vehicles, only about 10 kg, but only 1/4 to 1/2 of the total body weight of the pedestrian can have an effect so far used windshields, which are made of laminated safety glass, reduce the risk of injury to pedestrians do not decrease, regardless of whether the windshields are symmetrical or asymmetrical, for example those of the generic type. The risk of injury in pedestrian motor vehicle accidents is so large that both when using toughened safety glass as well as when using laminated safety glass occasionally the head of the windshield thrown pedestrian separated, or at least seriously injured.
Das beschriebene Problem der Fußgängersicherheit läßt sich auch nicht dadurch lösen, daß auf die Windschutzscheibe verhältnismäßig dicke Kunststoffolien aufgebracht werden bzw. bei Verbundsicherheitsglas die Kunststoff-Zwischenfolie so verstärkt wird, daß ein Durchstoßen nicht mehrThe above-described problem of pedestrian safety cannot be solved by removing the windshield such a transverse bending is given that it reduces the dimensional rigidity of a bridge arch and there is no breaking, so also not to a breach of the Windshield can come through the head of the pedestrian, as in this case the HIC values become too large, so that the pedestrian's head completely under adverse circumstances could be smashed. Such a pane would also have double images due to the geometric optics in an order of magnitude that is not permitted. The described problem of pedestrian safety can also not be solved by applying relatively thick plastic films to the windshield or in the case of laminated safety glass, the plastic intermediate film is reinforced so that it is no longer pierced

In the case of the intermediate films known to date, this is because of the strength and elongation of the Foil material the limit with a total foil thickness of about 1.2 to 1.5 mm, otherwise the Si or HIC value rises above the permissible limit, causing permanent brain damage if the pedestrian's head is hit the consequence would be. Incidentally, this applies to both sides of the collision, in other words, windshields, which have a greater overall film thickness, not only endanger the vehicle occupants, but also the hit pedestrians. It is known that with relatively small Auforallgewichte through reinforcement the plastic intermediate film of conventional laminated safety glass windshields can achieve a substantial improvement in the dielectric strength, but this effect decreases with increasing impact weight very strong and is at 40 kg impact weight, as is the case for a pedestrian hitting the windshield can be assumed as an example, so low that the associated costs not worth it. The reason is probably that all plastic films known to date have a certain notch sensitivity have, the tear strength decreases sharply with increasing load.
AS 22 28 299 a windshield of the type mentioned has become known in which the silicate glass outer pane has a thickness of 3 to 4 mm, while the thickness of the silicate glass intermediate pane is 2 to 3 mm. The plastic intermediate layer connecting the silicate glass outer pane to the silicate glass intermediate pane is thicker than the plastic cover layer facing the vehicle interior. It has been shown that in such a windshield

The same problems arise with regard to pedestrian safety as with regard to windshields above known type have been set out in general. Even the laminated safety glass windshield after DT-OS 22 47 644, in which a silicate glass outer pane is connected to a plastic inner pane, is capable because of the elastic plastic inner pane, the risk to the vehicle occupants in the event of an impact to reduce the windshield from the inside, but gives in terms of pedestrian safety no benefits. The same applies to the laminated safety glass windshield according to OE-PS 296 784 too, in which a relatively thick silicate glass outer pane over a plastic intermediate layer made of polyvinyl butyral with a relatively thin silicate glass inner pane connected is. A windshield, such as, shows a structure that is similarly but reversely asymmetrical it is described in GB-PS 842 657. Also the Prinzio used for this, a relatively thin silicate glass outer pane Connecting with a relatively thick silicate glass inner pane can reduce the problem of pedestrian safety not solve.
It refers to a glass-plastic laminated body, in which a relatively thick silicate glass outer pane over a first Polyvinyl butyral film with a thinner silicate glass intermediate pane and over another layer of polyvinyl butyral the same thickness as the first is connected to a further silicate glass inner pane, the silicate glass intermediate pane and the inner pane of silicate glass

There is a two-layer structure on the inside of the glass-plastic composite built up in this way Plastic combination of polyurethane and polycarbonate arranged. The DT-OS 23 43 559 shows a windshield, in which the silicate glass panes have the same thickness as each other and on the one facing the vehicle interior Inner surface of the windshield is provided with a plastic layer combination of relatively great thickness is. All of these measures only serve the purpose and only more or less well serve the purpose that To increase the safety of the occupants of the motor vehicle without, however, the problem of pedestrian safety, as it is is set out at the beginning, addressed or even partially solved.
The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a windshield of the generic type, which for pedestrians colliding with the motor vehicle or cyclists reduce the risk of injury.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characteristics of claim 1 mentioned features solved.
Particularly preferred embodiments of the invention emerge from the subclaims. It is special advantageous if the adhesive strength of the connection between the silicate glass intermediate pane and the plastic intermediate layer is set much higher than that between the silicate glass outer pane and the plastic intermediate layer. It has been shown that the combination of this feature with the teaching of Patentansoruches 1 the Pedestrian safety influenced particularly favorably.

Overall, the invention is based on the surprising finding that it is due to the claimed structure of the Laminated safety glass succeeds in increasing the breakdown strength of windshields from the outside of the vehicle forth to increase greatly without the "internal security" of the motor vehicle, that is to say the protection of the motor vehicle occupants against injuries in the event of impact on the windshield. Even with the Stress on the windshield according to the invention from the thick silicate glass outer pane breaks that Thin glass of the silicate glass inner pane, especially when it has a has higher adhesion than the silicate glass outer pane, in very fine pieces, the notch effect of which is low, so that thus the risk of tearing of the plastic intermediate layer and the plastic cover layer is reduced. Consists the thin glass of the silicate glass inner pane made of strength glass, which of course has certain upper strength limits must not exceed, in particular made of chemically hardened Fourcault glass, another Achieve improvement of the fine fracture pattern.
Dabei ist auch zu bedenken, daß das hier zur AuswirkungThe structure according to the invention gives a windshield which improves the dielectric strength by up to 100% compared to pedestrians hit by it, which provides adequate security against life-threatening cuts. Internal security is ensured because, due to the asyronetric construction of the windshield according to the invention, the vehicle occupant's head acts as the first silicate glass pane on the thin silicate glass intermediate pane, which in any case ensures rapid opening with a fine fracture pattern. It should also be borne in mind that this has an effect

Coming impact weight is only about 10 kg, in contrast to the impact weight of 40 kg and more, as must be taken into account in the impact of the head of a pedestrian is. Although a pane structure in which the stress side affects the thickness of the individual silicate glass panes and the thickness of the plastic layers increases, thanks to the DT-PS 25 24 241 for bullet-proof glazing already known, it is completely surprising that by applying this principle, especially in conjunction with the asymmetrical adhesion of the plastic intermediate layer specified above, with the same good protection for the vehicle occupants compared to the generic laminated safety glass such a considerable improvement in pedestrian safety can be achieved.
Dabei zeigt:Further features and advantages of the invention emerge from the following description, in which two exemplary embodiments are detailed on the basis of the schematic drawing are explained. It shows:
Fig. 1 ein erstes Ausführungsbeispiel einer Windschutzscheibe nach der Erfindung im Schnitt; undFig. 1 shows a first embodiment of a windshield according to the invention in section; and

Intermediate layer 12, a silicate glass intermediate pane again glued to it 14 and a plastic cover layer glued to it 16 on. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the thickness of the silicate glass outer pane is 10 2.5 mm, that of the plastic intermediate layer 12 0.38 mm, that of the silicate glass intermediate pane 1.0 mm and that of the plastic cover layer 16 0.76 mm. The plastic intermediate layer 12 consists of a polyvinyl butyral film, while the plastic cover layer 16 consists of a polyurethane film. A weakly crosslinked polyurethane can preferably be used for this purpose is designed to be self-healing, so scratches as a result of the softness and elasticity of the plastic cover layer disappear on their own. In this case, a film is used as the plastic cover layer, as it is in the DT-AS 22 28 299 is described. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the silicate glass intermediate pane 14 consists of chemically hardened Fourcault glass, which has a particularly low breaking strength, in relation to others Strength glasses, which means that they break quickly in fine, no notch effects on the plastic layers causing fracture pattern is guaranteed.
In diesem Fall ist es natürlich nicht erforderlich, daß die Kunststoff-Deckschicht 16 selbstausheilend, wie vorzugsweise bei dem in Fig. 1 gezeigten AusführungsbeispielThe embodiment shown in Fig. 2 differs from that of Fig. 1 in that on the silicate glass washer 14 facing away from the side of the plastic cover layer 16, a thin silicate glass inner pane 18 is arranged is, which is glued to the plastic cover layer 16 and the inner surface of the windshield, namely the plastic cover layer 16 protects against scratches. In this case, of course, it is not necessary that the plastic cover layer 16 self-healing, as preferably in the embodiment shown in FIG
