Production The invention relates to a method for production a mass suitable as a concrete substitute, which is characterized in that an aqueous emulsion of one prepared by esterification and optionally Prepared polymer containing epoxy groups and the emulsion obtained with a binding agent that sets when exposed to water, containing silicon dioxide Filler and a catalyst suitable for curing the polymer combined, as well as a mass produced according to this process and suitable as a concrete substitute.
The binder used in the present invention can be composed of a water absorbing agent setting or solidifying binders exist. Combining the emulsion with the other components can be done in such a way that the setting effect or Solidifying effect only through reaction of the water content of the emulsion with the Binder reached will. In this case the merging takes place the emulsion with the other ingredients essentially without separation of the Water content of the emulsion in a way other than reaction with the binder. Portland cement, plaster of paris, lime, for example, are suitable as binders or mixtures of two or more of the materials mentioned. According to the invention Manufactured masses are suitable as a substitute for concrete, plaster and the like. Preferably the polymer consists of an unsaturated polyester resin, which by reacting an acid component consisting of an acid or a reactive derivative the same, and / or a glycol component consisting of an alcohol or a reactive derivative of the same, with a further component with a high molecular weight, consisting of a glycol or an acid or a reactive derivative by both. The total content of glycol components should preferably 2 to 5 mol-96 are above the stoichiometrically required amount so that the s The molecular weight of the polyester formed falls in a range from 3,100 to 3,600. The acid components used to make the polyester are preferably made of saturated and unsaturated acid components, the molar ratio of unsaturated to saturated acid components expediently in the range of 0.8 to 1.75, preferably in the range from 1.35 to 1.40. Preferably done the reaction until the polyester has an acid number of 25 or below. The polyester resin can also with the addition of a maximum of 30 wt .-% of a polymerizable Monomers are formed to the polyester. The specified upper limit for the polymerizable monomer serves to ensure that the monomer is complete is built into the three-dimensional end product and is practically not unbound Polystyrene is present. The monomer can, for example, consist of styrene and / or methyl methacrylate exist. The emulsion mentioned is obtained by mixing the polymer with up to 60 wt .-% water, the polymer preferably in the form of particles a particle size of essentially at most 25 microns in the emulsion is. Although in the present case as a polymer in any case polyester resins are used, polymers of other resins can also be used.
Hardening can also be carried out by cold or warm polymerization. It is also possible to use a resin with two catalyst additives, one of which enables partial polymerization and the second addition of catalyst the complete and final polymerization in the context of a hot pressing process catalyzed to produce. This double additive process enables delivery of the mortar in pre-gelled rolls or rollers.
Of course, any suitable can be used in the final product prior to setting Type of reinforcement material, e.g. glass fiber or steel, can be incorporated. At the Incorporation of short glass fibers into the material achieved during its manufacture get good results.
The formation of an emulsion of the polymer is in view of the Manufacture of satisfactory end products is essential. The emulsion can, as described, be prepared by the fact that the synthetic resin in the presence of water in a high speed mixer with such a high mixing speed stirs that it results in particles having a particle size substantially no greater than 25 microns is smashed. Such polymers should preferably be used, which can be mixed with 60% by weight or more of water and with the addition of cement or any other binding agent that does not become water-repellent.
When storing the emulsions of Examples 7, 9, 11 and 13 before Use (e.g. for transport purposes) stabilizers can be added as follows: a) A polymer emulsion (vinyl or acrylic emulsion) -1% by weight, based on the resin; b) an oil-absorbing filler (3 Qew.-96, based on the resin).
Calcium carbonate or hydrated, for example, can be used as the filler Use silicon dioxide.
Mit angegeben sind die Eigenschaften eines Harz/Sand-Gemischs bekannter Art.Compositions produced according to the invention can be easily processed to end products with high strength properties that affect the strength properties far exceed the usual standard concrete. For example, if that End product of Example 8 with the properties given in the table below compared with the corresponding properties of the same product made from standard concrete the results given in the following table are obtained. Manufactured according to the invention Masses are opposite temperatures in the range of -60 ° to + 155 ° C and opposite insensitive to repeated thermal shocks within the specified temperature range. Furthermore, the masses can be designed in such a way that they are during setting experience (only) a small amount of shrinkage. Shrinkage values of less than mm per m can easily be ensured.
When using the polyester according to Example 2, the shrinkage is particularly low, i.e. it can be used in certain areas of application as a be considered null.
The one created by the exothermic reaction during the formation of the end product Heat arises partly from the polyester setting reaction and partly from the Binder 8 water reaction. When using cement or plaster, this is the temperature usually lower than when using polyester resins alone. If the Temperature is maintained over a long period of time, it has been shown that that this strongly favors the hardening or setting of the cement / water system will.
