Abstract

Fibrous packing in exchangers for material, energy or both comprises suitable means for avoiding the parallel arrangement of fibres, pref. by bending or buckling the fibres once or more times. The resulting column has separation stages, but extremely high permeability to the carrier gas, so that the number of stages per unit of pressure drop is at least as good as with columns filled with diatomaceous earth prepns.
