Abstract
Description
Device for uniform coating of the walls of continuous Bores by means of vacuum vapor deposition The invention relates to a device for uniform Coating of the T3 ends of continuous bores by means of vacuum vapor deposition. Such Use cases occur e.g. B. on, if the single or LIehrebenen PCBs Holes for the purpose of through-hole plating and better solderability when soldering in of components covered with a continuous and even metal layer will. In other applications, small metal sleeves are used to protect against corrosion inside with thin organic layers or with layers of quartz or metal oxides to provide.
In known methods, the evaporation source is placed directly in the bore introduced, e.g. B. in wire form, the wire by means of UZiderstanderviärmung is heated and then evaporated. However, this solution has the disadvantage that it is very expensive, since a separate evaporator is required for each hole is. Furthermore, this device can only be used for relatively large bores.
For coating bore walls with a small diameter Devices known in which the substrate in the form of bulk material in a drum rotates around or above an evaporator source in the recipient. Change the substrates while constantly uncontrolled your days in relation to the evaporator source and so can the evaporated material also get into the bores and there on the walls condense. With this cathode, the bore walls are also largely steamed, but there is a risk that individual places are not steamed or only poorly steamed and that the layer thickness is different, very large.
Another publication describes that the holes be moved over an evaporator source so that all locations of the holes alternate get in the beam direction of the evaporator source. A concrete solution to this is but not specified.
The purpose of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art switch off and get evenly vaporized holes.
The invention is based on the object of developing a device uniform vapor deposition of bores with a diameter of 5 1.5 mm and a ratio of bore length to bore diameter from 0 »5 to about 20 allowed.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that the bore over the evaporator is rotated in such a way that the bore axis is perpendicular to the evaporator surface rotates and that the evaporator is greater than the distance of the Zaß h.d x # 2 i at the most distant opposite bore walls.
Here, h is the distance from the surface of the evaporator to the lower edge of the substrate in parallel days d is the diameter of the hole and l the length the hole.
The total length of the evaporator is then obtained with h.d V = M + d + 2, 1 where M is the center-to-center distance of the two most distant holes. In this Ball, the holes have the same diameter, otherwise the mean value must be the Diameter for d can be assumed.
This enlargement of the evaporator ensures that the last hole is still fully in the jet area of the evaporator. With. One-sided Vapor deposition increases the layer thickness irondensed during vapor deposition Depth. However, if the bore is rotated, it will be compensated differently Layer thickness again. In Fig. N is the layer thickness distribution with one-sided vapor deposition shown without rotation. If the hole is rotated, however, so from both sides from a vapor deposition, then the layer thickness distribution results mie ia Fig. 2.
Je nach dem Verhältnis von lid ergibt sich, wie in Fig. 2 dargestellt, in der Bohrungsmitte eine Schichtdicke von etwa 90 % bei l/d = 1 gegenüber der Schichtdicke an den Banten, die etwa gleich der Schichtdicke auf der Substratoberfläche ist, bis etwa 80 s bei l/d = 4.Depending on the ratio of lid, as shown in Fig. 2, in the middle of the hole a layer thickness of about 90% at l / d = 1 compared to the layer thickness at the edges, which is approximately equal to the layer thickness on the substrate surface, up to about 80 s at l / d = 4.
These are very good values compared to the known state of the art, which can only be achieved by enlarging the evaporator according to the invention.
In the case of mass vapor deposition, it is often necessary to have a larger number to vaporize substrates in one batch, d. that is, a magazine must be available be. A device that is divided into many has been shown to be advantageous individual substrate carrier is arranged around the evaporator and the substrates one after the other in the position according to the invention via the evaporator he brings. The movement of the individual substrates in relation to the evaporator is like a planet. At this circular arrangement of the substrates around the evaporator results in another Advantage for the invention. Because the substrates faced differently take the evaporator, no surface evaporator is required, just one rinienverdampfes, this line evaporator at right angles to the direction of rotation the substrates is arranged.
Because of the enlarged design of the evaporator according to the invention evaporation material also passes in the direction outside the substrate suggested that the side of the evaporator up to the substrate shielding plates be attached. This ensures that the last hole also is still safely steamed, but no evaporation material reaches the side of the Substrate passed into the recipient.
Rather, the evaporation material hits the shielding plates and can be peeled off and recovered from there if the thickness is appropriate will.
The advantage of the inventive solution to the problem is in particular in the fact that with great certainty and simple means a good and even one Steaming of the holes with a diameter of <1.5 mm is achieved at a ratio of ^ bore length to bore diameter of 0.5 to about 20.
The device is to be described in more detail below using two exemplary embodiments explained.
In the accompanying drawing: FIG. 3 shows a device according to the invention with a substrate holder above the evaporator, FIG. 4 shows the side view of FIG. 3, Fi. 5 shows a device according to the invention with a circular arrangement around the evaporator Magazine, FIG. 6 the side view of FIG. 5.
In Fig. 3, a recipient 1 is shown in which a rotatable substrate holder 2 is arranged. The substrate 3 is held in the substrate holder 2. Below The evaporator 4 is arranged on the substrate 3 in the exemplary embodiment consists of a large number of individual evaporators. According to the invention, the evaporator 4 with respect to the substrate 3 or the holes 12 designed and arranged so that the evaporator 4 protrudes on all sides by the dimension x over the outermost bore edge 5, is therefore greater than the maximum distance between the opposing outer hole edges 5.
The determination of the distance x is in the description of the invention already described. The rotation of the substrate 3, thus the vapor deposition of both Drill sides can take place around the axis x. To prevent steam jets To get into the recipient uselessly, shielding plates 6 are arranged laterally.
Fig. 4 shows the side view of Fig. 3, another embodiment is shown in FIG. Basically, the arrangement is the same, only that the individual rotatable substrate holder 2 against a planet-like moving magazine 7 is replaced with several substrate holders 2. The function of the rotary motion is can easily be seen from the associated side view of FIG. The entire Vagazin 7 is rotated over the pin 8 and is supported on the rollers 9. The single ones Substrate holders 2 each have a sprocket 10 that is connected to a stationary chain 11 intervention. If the magazine 7 is rotated, the sprocket 10 rolls on the stationary one Chain 11 and there is a planet-like movement. Justified by the movement take the holes 12 in the substrates 3 constantly a different day from the Evaporator 4 on. Thus, there is no need for the evaporator 4 also is increased in the direction of rotation of the magazine 7 and in this embodiment the evaporator 4 only needs to be designed as a line evaporator.
