Description
Die Wirkung der Erfindung wird nachstehend anhand der F i g. la bis Id erläutertThe invention relates to a device for generating X-ray slices according to the Preamble to the main claim. Such a device is known, e.g. B. from DE-OS 23 18 656 and the literatures cited therein. The object of the present invention is; it that with the known Devices to improve achievable image quality. This task is carried out by the in the license plate of the main claim specified measures resolved. The effect of the invention will be based on below the F i g. la to id explained
It is assumed that a homogeneous object 1 is arranged in the beam path, on which a detail 2 is superimposed (FIG. 1 a). Fig. Ib shows the spatial course of the radiation behind the object or the time course of the scanning signal. It is now assumed that the same detail is arranged in front of an object 1 'which is also homogeneous but absorbs more than the object 1. The scanning signal then has the course over time shown in FIG. The comparison between Fi g. Ib and Fi g. Id shows that the amplitude in FIG. Id is due to the stronger $ reduced 5 Absorption of the object Γ However, in both cases, the relationship between the object 1 associated amplitude S \ of the sample signal and the object 1 and the detail 2 associated amplitude S 2 of the scanning signal unchanged This is based on the fact that every detail has a multiplicative effect on the radiation intensity because it absorbs a certain fraction of the radiation in each case, which is independent of the absorption of the part of the object that is hit by the same beam.
The fact that the ratio S1 / S2 is independent of the absorption of the object 1 or Γ necessarily means that the difference St - Si depends on the absorption of the object 1 or Γ. If the two signals are superimposed (possibly with a suitable shift), this property has the effect that the change in the amplitude of the scanning signal caused by the detail 2 on the object 1 enters the superimposed image with a greater weight than that caused by the same detail on the stronger absorbing object 1 'caused change, which leads to errors in the image reconstruction,
When the individual images are recorded in the known method, the conditions are basically similar, because the absorption of the object depends heavily on the direction from which it is irradiated. This means that a detail in a single shot from a perspective in which the object absorbs more strongly is included in the overlay image more weakly than in another single shot from a perspective in which the object absorbs less radiation overall Overlay image that can lead to misdiagnosis.
The fact that, according to the invention, the scanning signal is logarithmized by the member with a logarithmic characteristic curve results in a signal in which the signal mean value is also influenced by the absorption of the object 1 or Γ, but in which the amplitude difference Si - Sj is independent of the Absorption of the object 1 or 1 'is. The above-explained imaging errors in the overlay image that occur in the known devices of this type are therefore avoided. It must be added that due to the logarithmic characteristic compression of the sampling signal occurs which, with the result that disturbances, affecting less strong, so that the image quality is improved Iu this regard occur during further processing of the sample signal also.
Dadurch wird der Einfluß der bei der Weiterverarbeitung des Abtastsignals auftretenden Störungen weiter reduziertThe fact that the amplitude difference Si - S2 after logarithmizing is independent of the absorption of the object 1 or Γ also means that this difference does not change if the object is irradiated with different intensities during the various recordings. The further development of the invention described in claim 2 is thereby made possible. The intensity of the X-ray radiation or the amplification of the scanning signal can each be set so that the maximum value of the scanning signal can just be processed. This allows the dynamic range of the individual components of the device to be optimally used without the superimposed image being adversely affected. This further reduces the influence of the disturbances occurring during the further processing of the scanning signal
In a device of the type mentioned, the time determines the scanning of the by X-ray generated radiation reliefs is required at the same time the exposure time so that the Dynamic range can only be used by changing the intensity of the X-ray source and / or the amplification of the scanning signal. Because the required However, the intensity or amplification is not yet known prior to the recording, see claim 3 described further development of the invention that the intensity of the X-ray tube or the gain for a single recording as a function of the amplitude of the scanning signal for a previous one Recording is set from an adjacent position, it being assumed that the Absorption ratios for recordings from neighboring positions differ only relatively little.
Fig.2 zeigt in schematischer Darstellung ein Ausführungsbeispiel einer erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung.2 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a device according to the invention.
An object 3, which is stored on the table top 4, is penetrated by an X-ray tracer 5, the radiation relief behind the object is made by a Image intensifier 6 is converted into visible light and the output fluorescent screen of the image intensifier is of a television camera 7 is scanned. As indicated in dashed lines, the individual X-rays are taken taken from different perspectives. X-ray tracers 5 and image intensifiers 6 are included shifted in opposite directions to each other in one plane, whereby the shift by one (possibly ideal) pivot point, which is expediently in a plane that intersects the object (parallel to the plane of displacement).
If the single exposures are then superimposed on each other without mutual displacement, the overlay image shows this plane of the object as a slice image.
The video signal of the television camera 7 is fed to the input of a logarithmic amplifier 8, the supplies an output signal whose instantaneous value corresponds to the logarithm of the instantaneous value at its input proportional is the output signal of the Ksgarithmischen Amplifier 8 is stored in a magnetic tape or magnetic disk memory 9. All individual recordings from the various positions of the X-ray source 5 and the image intensifier 6 (e.g. can lie on a circle or an ellipse) are successively stored in the memory 9 The output signal of the logarithmic amplifier 8 becomes jo also fed to a circuit 13 for automatic gain control, which the gain of the television camera 7 depending on the maximum value (or the average value) of the scanning signal In the case of a previous recording, the television camera 7 can basically control instead of the amplification also the intensity of the X-ray source 5 can be changed accordingly by the circuit 13, as by the dashed line between 5 and 13 indicated This option is cheaper than the first one, because it allows the brightness of the television camera to keep the recorded image in an area that is optimal for the television camera.
Then the stored individual recordings are written one after the other into the image storage tube 10, depending on the distance of the desired plane from the plane in which the Pivot point is located. The size and direction of the shift are controlled by a control unit or a computer 11 as a function of this distance, the layer depth, determines Die Displacement takes place in that the deflection voltages of the image storage tube 10 are a function of the layer depth dependent DC component is superimposed, or by the fact that the deflection voltages and the associated Video signal can be delayed against each other. The superimposed image can then be extracted from the image storage tube 10 can be read out and displayed on a playback device 12.
The read-out video signal corresponding to the overlay image can also be used in the Memory 9 are stored, after which the overlay images can be produced for other layer depths and can also be stored in the memory 9. The video signals assigned to the various overlay images can then be extracted from the Memory 9 can be displayed directly on the playback device 12.
The logarithmic amplifier could in principle also be between the memory 9 and the image storage tube 10 can be arranged; It is only essential that the scanning signal of the individual recordings (and not that of the overlay picture, d. H. the layer recording) is supplied.
