Eine derartige Zusammensetzung zeigen die japanischen Auslegeschriften 47-27712/72 und 47-41153/72.The invention relates to a composition that can be sintered to form a PTC thermistor element with BaTiOj as the main component and with MnO 2 or a manganese compound that can be converted into a manganese oxide by burning in air, with SiO 2 and with an oxide such as Y 2 Oj that makes the BaTiOi semiconducting as additives. Such a composition is shown in Japanese Patent Publication Nos. 47-27712 / 72 and 47-41153 / 72.
Weiterhin berichten Y. M a t s u ο u. a. in Am. Ceram. Soc. Bull. It is known that a barium titanate ceramic containing small amounts of oxides of metals such as rare earths, Y, Bi, Sb, Nb and Ta, becomes semiconducting. Such a conductive material is described in DE-PS 6 31 321. Furthermore, Y. M atsu ο report in Am. Ceram. Soc. Bull. 47 [3] 292-297 (1968) that the semiconductor of the barium titanate ceramic can be improved by adding significant amounts of Al 2 O 1 , SiO 2 . Such a semiconducting material is described in US Pat. No. 3,373,120. Furthermore, US-PS 35 86 642 reports that the semiconducting barium titanium alkali shows very good stability under load if it contains significant amounts of Al 2 O 1 , SiO 2 and TiO 2 and small amounts of metal oxides, v. ie Nb 2 Oi, Ta 2 Oi, SB 2 O 3 , La 2 O 3 , CeO 2 , Gd 2 O 3 , Sm 2 O 3 and Y 2 O 3 . In IP-AS 41-12146 / 1966 and JP-AS 42-38W 1967 it is also disclosed that semiconducting barium t'anate ceramic doped with small amounts of rare earths, Bi and Sb has a high positive temperature coefficient of the specific resistance and a considerable change in the Resistance in the PTC temperature range shows when the 0.002 to 0.03 wt.% Mn ion contains. Furthermore, I '- / \ S 47-27712 / 1972 and M'-AS 47-411 r > 3/1972 teach that a semiconducting barium titanate ceramic doped with a small amount of a rare earth, Bi and Sb, makes a major change in the Resistance in the PTC temperature range and a low voltage-dependent wedge of the resistance at a higher than the Curie temperature shows when it contains 0.13 to 0.35 mol percent Mn ions and 0.2 to 15 mol percent Si ions.
Last zeigen.PTC thermistor elements have recently been used for demagnetizing the picture tubes of color television receivers used, for this purpose they must have a high breakdown voltage, a strong current in the Moment of application of a current, a low electrical current, for example 10 seconds or longer after voltage has been applied, and show good aging stability under load.
For example, has an Mn-doped PTC thermistor, which contains a rare earth, at a low voltage (a few volts) a high positive
The object of the invention is to provide the aforementioned composition to this effect improve that so that cold conductor elements can be produced are that have only a »* low voltage dependence of their have a specific resistance above the Curie point.
This object is achieved in that the MnO 2 or the manganese compound which can be converted into a manganese oxide by burning in air is present therein in an amount of 0.003 ... 0.04% by weight and the SiO 2 in an amount of 0.05 ... 1.24 % By weight is present that the Y 2 Oi or Nb 2 O is present as a semiconducting oxide to 0.05 ... 0.22% by weight, that a lithium compound which can be converted to a lithium oxide by firing in air is added 0.007-0.9% by weight and that a small amount of Sb 2 O 1 or Bi 2 Oi is less than 0.12% by weight.

The composition for the PTC thermistor according to the invention consists of BaTiOj as the main component and from the additions, as they qualitatively and quantitatively from the characterizing part of claim 1 emerge.
Lithium compounds that can be converted to a lithium oxide by burning in air are, for example, Li 2 COj, LiNOj, Li 2 SO 4 and Li 2 C 2 O 4 . Manganese compounds that can be converted to manganese oxide by burning in air are, for example, MnCOi, Mn (WOj) 2 and MnC 2 O 4 . The remaining subclaims show further advantageous developments. Each of the additives mentioned helps to improve the electrical properties. According to the valence rule, the addition of Nb 2 Oi or Y 2 Oj is necessary for the semiconducting of barium titanate. The additives Al 2 Oj, SiO 2 and TiO 2 , which form a liquid phase at the sintering temperature, promote the semiconductor, control the uniformity of the small grain size and reduce the voltage dependence of the resistance above the Curie point. Li 2 COj increases the change in resistance in the temperature range of the positive temperature coefficient and lowers the resistance below the Curie point. The addition of MnO 2 increases the positive temperature coefficient of the resistance. Furthermore, additions of Sb 2 Oj and Bi 2 Oj bring about a control of the uniformly small grain size of the cold conductor ceramic and a reduction in the voltage dependence of the resistance above the Curie point. All additives according to the present invention promote one another in their effect on the electrical properties.
According to the invention, some of the Ba in BaTiOj can be replaced by Sr and / or Pb and the Ti in BaTiOj can be replaced by Sn. In the manufacture of a PTC thermistor, according to the invention, it is preferable to add the Al 2 O), SiO 2 , Li 2 CO, MnO 2 and optionally Sb 2 O 1 to the starting mixture after the known firing.
