KLASSE 40«. GRUPPECLASS 40 «. GROUP
DieThe present invention relates to an improved method of treating zinc-containing Ores and metallurgical products, but especially the treatment of sulphidic zinc ores, which are known under the name "Unruly ores", and in which zinc occurs together with other metals such as iron, lead and copper and which were previously difficult to process. the
ίο Erfindung umfaßt außerdem die Verarbeitung von sog. »angereicherten« und anderen Hüttenerzeugnissen. ίο Invention also includes processing of so-called "enriched" and other metallurgical products.
Many attempts and proposals have been made to use the so-called
To process the "wet" method, which consists in the fact that one after their roasting the zinc leaches out as sulphate. This leaching of the resulting from the roasting Zinc sulfates happens in some cases through water, while in other cases where the Roasting is continued until the partial formation of oxide, the leaching is carried out by dilute sulfuric acid. In in still other cases gaseous sulphurous acid is put into vessels together with air and steam initiated, in which the ores are suspended in water.
However, in the inventor's view, these attempts were more or less unsuccessful as soon as it was the processing of a commercially available metallurgical product, since formed gelatinous silica and the sulphates formed during washing took up water again, and also because the ore showed a tendency to cake.
In the method according to the invention, the zinc becomes uninterrupted and fast leached by sulfuric acid, while the ■ other metals in the residues in a Remain in the form, which for the subsequent processing, especially by melting, suitable is. The zinc sulphate is then preferably converted to oxide in order to act as a Dye to use. The invention consists of a number of measures known per se, according to which the crushed ore is first roasted in order to be as good as possible high content, of zinc sulfate and the lowest possible content of sulfates of the other Metals. Then the ore thus roasted will continuously turn up into one directed stream of dilute sulfuric acid and finally just as uninterrupted the zinc sulfate solution in more or less concentrated form from the gangue and the Split ore separately. The ore particles which are so in contact with a flowing stream of the leachant and the solutions formed become continuous separated from the gelatinous silica and other solids, and since the leaching occurs continuously and rapidly the possibility of caking is limited to the extreme.
For a better understanding of the present invention, the same is below Described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which an installation for execution of the procedure is shown. The procedure, however, is not limited to execution in the apparatus described below and shown in the drawings limited .. Rather, it can also be carried out in other systems.

Fig. 2 ist ein wagerechter Schnitt desselben nach der Linie 2-2 in Fig. 1.FIG. 2 is a horizontal section of the same along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 stellt die vollständige Anlage dar.
Figure 3 is an elevational view, partially in section, of a group of the septic tanks and Figure 4 shows the complete system.
To carry out the process, the ore is first subjected to sulphating roasting in a flame or muffle furnace in such a way that the highest possible content of zinc sulphate and, at the same time, the highest possible content of the oxides of copper and iron is achieved. For this purpose, especially towards the end of the process, the temperature must be carefully monitored so that it is high enough to decompose the sulphates of copper and iron formed, but not high enough to convert any appreciable part of the zinc sulphate into oxide. The roasting is advantageously carried out in ovens with top firing and mechanical charging devices, so that the charging as well as the removal of the roasted ore is uninterrupted and automatic. The sulphurous acid escaping from the roasting furnace can advantageously be passed into lead chambers and thus used to form the sulfuric acid used in the present process.
The roasted ore is brought, while still hot, into a vessel in which there is an upwardly directed stream of dilute sulfuric oxides. A suitable vessel for this purpose is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. It is advantageously cylindrical and has two walls, the outer A and the inner B, provided. These walls A and B are made of acid-resistant material , e.g. B. made of antimony or hard lead. . The outer wall advantageously consists of two parts which are fastened to one another by flanges α. The walls A and B are designed in the shape of a staircase. Together they form an annular cavity C which surrounds an inner cavity D. At the bottom, the walls A and B terminate in conical surfaces A 1 , B 1 .
The outer wall A is provided with a drain pipe A 2 which opens out of an annular cavity C into a container A s. The inner wall B has a drain pipe B 2 which leads out of the inner cavity D through the outer wall A 1 . For the leach liquor at the bottom of the vessel an insertion tube E is provided which leads from the acid tank T (Fig. 4) through the outer wall of A 1 in the annular cavity C where it pre-jo part by way of the discharge pipe B 2 surrounds. The bottom of the inner wall B 1 forms a distributor for the liquid. The whole vessel is surrounded by a steam jacket F , between whose flanges f the flanges a are bracketed. An advantageously rotatable funnel G is attached to the top of the device, the drain pipe G 1 of which introduces the ore into the annular cavity C. Furthermore, a cap H is provided, which runs out into a tube H 1 at the top and discharges the vapors formed during leaching.
The septic tanks are arranged in groups. Such a group is shown in FIG. 3, while FIG. 4 shows a complete system which contains four such groups. In Fig. 3 / denotes a clarification tank with a conical or pyramidal bottom, which is constructed similarly to the usual settling vessels or »pointed boxes«. This clarifier is provided with a discharge opening L in which a regulating valve or a similar device is attached. At the top of the clarifier there is an annular trough M. Each vessel is equipped with an inner cylinder K , into which the sludge enters, and with an overflow N, which leads from the trough M of each clarifier to the cylinder K of the next lower one. Each group of containers has a channel P for receiving the sludge-like solid matter which emerges from the discharge opening L. Era the upper end of each channel P is a container S for the washing water or the weak solution, which will be discussed in more detail later. At the lower ends of each group of clarification tanks there is a collecting tank R in which the clarified solutions as they flow out of the channel N of the last tank of the group are stored.

The roasted ore is introduced still bite up into the annular cavity C , in which there is an upwardly directed stream of dilute sulfuric acid, which is fed through the pipe E from the reservoir T from. The ore falls from stage to stage in cavity C and thus comes into intimate contact with the dilute sulfuric acid, the zinc being dissolved as sulphate. Strong acid can be added at the same time as the ore. Since the ore is hot, the temperature is kept high by the steam jacket F and this causes the zinc to dissolve quickly. The zinc sulphate solution flows over the upper edge of the inner wall B into the central cavity D, carrying with it sludge and finer particles. The gangue and the undissolved ore parts sink to the bottom in the annular cavity C and are continuously removed through the opening A 2 and. transferred to the container A 3 to be later melted or otherwise processed.

. : 45- containing solution, which is withdrawn together with the sludge from the inner cavity D by means of the pipe B 2 , is further treated in a suitable manner to separate the mechanically entrained parts and to obtain a strong or saturated zinc sulfate solution. For this purpose, the solution is brought together with the sludge, which contains oxides and other solid bodies, into the highest vessel J 1 of the first group of clarification tanks. The clear solution flows over the upper edge into the annular channel M and from there into the collecting container Ä 1 . If the solution here is not yet strong enough. so it is returned to the reservoir T either directly or through the second collecting container R 2 through the pipe r 1 . The sludge drained from the container J 1 flows down the channel P 1 where it. is washed with solutions or with washing water from the container S 1. This alternating clarification and washing is continued through the following groups of clarification tanks / 2 , J 3 , J i until the sludge comes out of the,. lowest group flows out practically free of soluble salts. The cycle of the process is closed in that the clear solutions, which are thus obtained from the lowest groups, are returned to the storage containers for the washing liquid of the upper groups by, for. B. the clear solutions from the collection containers R 3 , i? 4 go back into the washing liquid containers S 1 , S 2 through the pipes r 3 , l · 1 , while new washing water is added to the container S 3 . In this way, the solutions are gradually concentrated until they are saturated in the container R 1 , while at the same time the amount of liquid in circulation is maintained by refilling the container S 3 with as large amounts of water as liquid from the sump R 1 is deducted. The container T is also continuously refilled with sulfuric acid. . :
The saturated zinc sulfate solution is drawn off from the container R 1 and the zinc sulfate is obtained by crystallization. The mother liquor is used again for leaching and goes back to the container T for this purpose.
The zinc sulfate obtained in crystallized form is dehydrated and then heated in a suitable furnace to obtain zinc oxide.
