The invention relates to the separation of n-olefins from their mixtures with η-paraffins using molecular sieves.
Certain natural and synthetic zeolites have the property preferentially adsorb certain types of hydrocarbons. These zeolites are known as molecular sieves have crystalline structures with a large number of pores of the same shape. In various zeolites, these Pores are 4 to 15 8 in diameter, but in any single zeolite the pores are essentially that same shape.
Since the molecular sieves have a greater affinity for olefins than for paraffins of the same number of carbon atoms, are already Process for separating hydrocarbon mixtures with compounds of various degrees of saturation have been proposed. In such processes, the unsaturated compounds held on the molecular sieve while the saturated material passes through. The unsaturated materials are dated Sieve desorbed in a separate stage.
In U.S. Patent 3,510,423 a liquid phase process is used for separating n-olefins from η-paraffins using molecular sieves of the X or Y type.

However, if the process is carried out in the gas phase, the molecular sieve shows a capacity drop with the process time, which is too large for the process to be carried out satisfactorily .
It has now been found that it is possible to achieve effective separation by using mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbons as desorbents, such a process still having the advantage of a significantly improved drop in capacity. Darüberhinhaus the method has the further advantage that it for separating mixtures having a low olefin concentration of, for example, only 5 wt -% can be used..
The invention therefore relates to a method for separating of n-oil from mixtures boiling in the kerosene range which contain n-oil and η-paraffins, the mixture in the first stage of the process to selectively adsorb the olefins from the feedstock over the bed of a zeolite molecular sieve with a pore size of more than β Ä and a product that contains the η-paraffins from the Molecular sieve bed is withdrawn and in the second process stage the olefins are desorbed from the molecular sieve. The process is characterized in that mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbons are used as desorbents used.
The process can be carried out in the liquid or gas phase. The gas phase process is preferred.
Toluol), oder einem Inertgasstrom, z.B. einem Stickstoffstrom, gespült wird, um oberflächlich und in den Zwischenräumen ad-Preferably, between the adsorption and desorption stages a rinsing stage is inserted in which the bed is filled with mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g. toluene), or a stream of inert gas such as a stream of nitrogen is used to superficially and in the interstices

The term kerosene mentioned above has the usual meaning in the petroleum industry, i. E. refers to fractions boiling substantially in the range of 150 ° to 00 0 ^ C.
The process of the invention is particularly suitable for starting materials having a carbon number of about C q to C, 2i. Bevorzugt wird das Sieb vom TypThe molecular sieve used as an adsorbent can be a faujasite, e.g. known under the type designation 1OX, Γ5Χ or Y. Preferred is the sieve of the type

The detergent is preferably the same as the desorbent, e.g. benzene, toluene, xylene and / or ethylbenzene Toluene is preferably used as a rinsing and desorbing agent.
Surprisingly, the method of the invention for the separation of n-olefins of η-paraffins can be used, even if the n-olefins only in such a low concentration of e.g. 5% by weight. It is known that aromatics are present on both the inner and outer surfaces are strongly retained by molecular sieves and it was therefore to be expected that the olefins, which only up to 5 wt .- ^ may be present in the mixture to be separated, .the aromatics would be difficult to displace in the adsorption stage.
Type Γ5Χ passed to saturate the molecular sieve with olefins. Thereafter, nitrogen was passed through for 5 minutes at a flow rate of 120 V / V / hour, calculated as gas, in order to remove residual product from the cavities of the reactor. Finally, toluene was passed through at a space flow rate of 0.25 V / V / hour, based on the liquid state, and successive fractions were collected until the exit liquid was olefin-free. Before a new process cycle was started, nitrogen was passed through for 5 minutes at a flow rate of 120 V / V / hour, calculated as gas, in order to remove excess toluene from the preheater which was a unit with the reactor. The yield of 95 wt -.% Pure toluene-olefins, averaged over the first 6 cycles was 2 wt ?? per cycle, based on the molecular sieve.

After the feed mixture had been passed over the molecular sieve, the olefins were displaced therefrom with toluene. After nitrogen was passed through the molecular sieve to remove excess toluene, fresh feed was passed over the bed, collecting successive fractions of the exit liquid. These fractions were then analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography to determine when the olefins were no longer adsorbed by the molecular sieve. In this way the adsorption capacity of the molecular sieve for olefins could then be calculated. The test conditions are listed in Table 2, only the temperatures differing from one another.

It was found that when the test conditions according to Table J5 were used, 25 ml of toluene were sufficient to desorb all of the adsorbed olefin from the molecular sieve. In contrast, only 90 to 95 % of the adsorbed olefins were eluted from the molecular sieve with 50 ml of 1-octene. These data show that the toluene has a much greater desorption effect.
