Druckwalzen oder Druckplatten.Printing rollers or printing plates.
The subject of the invention is a process for the production of printing rollers or of printing plates which are intended to be used for printing fabrics. The reels or Plates are here by a suitable electrolyte with the assistance of the electrical Stromes etched in the known way. The novelty of the procedure now consists in that the cathode, which comes from a horizontally stored in the electrolyte bath and naturally Metal plate insoluble in the electrolyte - consists of such position and dimensions receives that its area is equal to the projection of the immersed area of the anode is on the cathode level. In the course of numerous experiments it has been found that that the shape and the type of arrangement of the cathode as opposed to being soluble Anode used pressure plate or roller of very significant influence on cleanliness the engraving is. With the current arrangement of the cathode, which is usually adapted to the shape of the anode or larger than the Projection of the immersed anode surface onto the cathode plane was made The disadvantage turned out to be that the acid as soon as it reached a certain depth has penetrated, eroding the areas that have remained standing and reproducing the pattern.
Die Ätzung nimmt man dagegen am besten inThe pattern appears much wider as a result. as; the original, and for the above-mentioned reason it is usually applied to the plate much narrower than it should actually be, since the caustic acid makes the pattern wider by itself through the mentioned effect. By using the above-mentioned arrangement of the anode opposite the cathode, ie if, as the accompanying drawing shows, the area of the cathode cd is equal to the projection of the immersed anode area ab on the former, these disadvantages are completely avoided. The etching of the pressure roller can otherwise be carried out in the usual way. It is advisable to use an electrolyte which, be it by itself or due to alkaline additives, has a strongly alkaline reaction, and to use so-called metal reserves on the printing plate instead of the so-called metal reserves consisting of varnish, letterpress inks or the like. Almost all metals are suitable for generating the metallic reserves. However, they are best produced in hot electrolyte baths, as they are very dense in such baths and adhere well to the surface of the roller. When producing the metal reserves, it is very advisable to add substances to the electrolyte, from which the latter are produced, which, like tannin, alum and the like, have an astringent effect on gelatine and animal skins. Iron or tin baths are best suited for reserve purposes; but you can also generate the reserves from other metals, such as. B. made of gold, silver, nickel, cobalt, zinc, cadmium and the like. The etching, on the other hand, is best taken in
Baths, which by adding ammonium, sodium, cyan salts and the like. More have been made alkaline.
