So ist ein sogenannter Marderschreck bekannt, eine nach dem Vorbild eines schwach geladenen, elektrischen Weidezauns ersonnene Vorrichtung, wewlche an der Unterseite des Motorraumes montiert wird. Solche Vorrichtungen haben aber Nachteile. Erstens sind sie relativ aufwendig und teuer, weiterhin wird, da die benötigte elektrische Energie aus der Wagenbatterie gezapft wird, die Batterie stark belastet, und außerdem ist wegen der Lenk- und Federungsabläufe des Fahrzeuges unmöglich, die Marderabwehrvorrichtung so anzubringen, daß der Marder wirklich daran gehindert werden könnte, in den Motorraum einzudringen. Auch durch Duftstoffe oder akustische Maßnahmen konnte der Marder nicht ausreichend abgeschreckt werden.Various measures have been proposed to prevent damage caused by martens.
