Abstract
Electrodeless plasma lamp with high-frequency or microwave excitation and a lamp with illuminant filling, characterized in that a waveguide with two different cross-sectional principal axes is used in which two modes with substantially rectangular field strengths occur with different propagation constants and in which the microwave feed and the Bulbs are located at different locations in the longitudinal direction.
Description
Plasma lamps with electrodeless microwave excitation have been known for some time, originally due to the sulfur-based bulbs filling under the name "Sulfur Lamp". These lamps have a very high efficiency (up to about 160 lm / W), the excitation is typically done at the industrial frequency of 2.45 GHz by inexpensively available magnetrons.
In the meantime, the bulbs have been further developed. Light bulbs with solar spectrum up to Class A qualities for solar simulators are available with moderate efficiency reductions (about 90 lm / W). This combination of efficiency and spectral quality is currently not achievable with any other lighting concept, such as LED, HID (MH, HPS), CFL.
