Description
The invention relates to a composition of matter according to the preamble of claim 1. The present invention improves mental and cognitive processes, in particular concentration and mental performance.
Preparations containing or based on the substance DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) are known as pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements. As before, there are various disadvantages in the commercial preparations, so that there is a need for alternative preparations or preparations with improved properties. Especially with regard to the pharmacological efficacy, the bioavailability / drug release / blood levels, the side effects and the speed of onset of action, there is a need for optimization. In addition, when using DMAE-containing products, a habituation effect is known, which leads to dose increases. Also similar acting, chemically related substances such as Procaine hydrochloride habituation effects and addictive potential are known.
In addition to a partially too weak pharmacological effect at low concentrations in broad application groups / patient groups, it was also shown that the effect on parts of the users or patients at medium and high doses was so weak that the dose had to be significantly increased. The dose increases were then associated with increased occurrence of side effects. For DMAE-containing preparations, therefore, there was a need to find new optimized formulations with improved properties.
The present invention according to claim 1 provides a remedy. The invention has for its object to provide an optimized DMAE-containing composition. This object has been achieved by a composition which has the features of claim 1.
The composition of the present invention comprises a unique, innovative combination of neuroprotective substances that are specifically matched to each other qualitatively and quantitatively. Surprisingly, it has been found that the composition according to claim 1 has significant synergistic advantages of the individual substance components to one another. The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that thanks to the composition of the invention, the pharmacological effect is very pronounced in a high proportion of users / patients, the amount of DMAE used is usually in the middle or low range (less than 200 mg DMAE). The proportion of users / patients experiencing too low a pharmacological effect at low and medium levels has been reduced, and these users / patients have avoided high doses. By avoiding high doses (over 200 mg DMAE), the side effect rate can be reduced. Furthermore, it has been shown that even low and medium dosages have improved the general side-effect profile. Another advantage is that the pharmacological effect occurs particularly advantageously in young people. When using DMAE-containing products, it is known that a habituation effect could occur relatively quickly when DMAE was used to increase the concentration. This soliciting effect occurs less often and later when the present invention is used to improve concentration in the short and medium term.
After various test series, preferred embodiments of the invention have been found, which are disclosed below. The term "mental and cognitive processes" used below refers to u. a. but not exclusively on the ability to concentrate, the memory, the mental vitality, the mood and the general mental capacity.
Sowohl alte Anwender/Patienten als auch junge Anwender/Patienten profitieren von der Verbesserung der mentalen und kognitiven Prozesse von DMAE.Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) is a precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the human brain and the neuronal membrane component phosphatidylcholine. DMAE accelerates the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and the incorporation of phosphatidylcholine into neuronal cell membranes. Within the brain, DMAE has antioxidant properties and stimulates oxidative metabolism in the cerebral cortex. According to studies, DMAE can extend the lifetime of cells by 50 percent. DMAE is used for short-term improvement in concentration and attention as a kind of stimulant, but also as a nootropic and anti-dementive. DMAE overcomes the brain barrier faster than choline. DMAE promotes memory and learning and can also be used in hyperactive children or those with impaired concentration. DMAE-based preparations are often used for depression, chronic fatigue, and lack of drive. Positive results were also obtained in senile dementia, phobias and schizophrenia. The composition according to the invention can therefore also be used in the abovementioned indications. DMAE develops short-term and long-term effects, with the latter occurring after a few months. Both old users / patients and young users / patients benefit from the improvement of DMAE's mental and cognitive processes.
The abovementioned components can be combined with one another as desired, wherein the features of the preamble of claim 1 are respectively included in the substance mixtures.
Due to the unique combination of the individual components to the composition according to the invention, the habituation effect on DMAE, when it is used as a concentration and attention-increasing agent, can be significantly reduced, especially in users under 35 years, this surprising effect is pronounced. In addition, the effect occurs more intense and faster. To explain is the optimization of the effect with the unique mixture and the optimized coordination of the quantities used. Ginkgo acts pharmacologically in comparison to DMAE and choline via other mechanisms. It has been found that the combination of the three substance components in the amounts and proportions according to claim 1 delays the habituation effect in DMEA-containing preparations. In addition, more users / patients respond at all to the composition of the invention. The proportion of users / patients who did not respond to DMAE-containing preparations or only in a very weak way, could be reduced by the invention. It has been found that this proportion of the users / patients can be reduced even further by variants of the invention, in addition to DMAE, choline and gingko additionally ginseng and / or pantothenic acid and / or magnesium oxide and / or thiamine and / or riboflavin and / or pyridoxine could. A surprising effect of the composition according to the invention is the lower rate of side effects. While in cases of high doses of DMAE (200 mg-800 mg), headache, irritability, allergic reaction and muscle tension are relatively common, the side effect profile when using the composition according to the invention is more favorable for the user / patient in qualitative and quantitative terms.
The composition according to the invention can be present in both solid and liquid form. Preferably, the composition is administered in the form of a capsule. The composition of the invention may also be in the form of tablets or dragees.
