The invention relates to a packaging laminate with a shape-stabilizing layer and an outer layer made of a thermoplastic material and a packaging container from the packaging laminate.
The packaging industry has long been producing dimensionally stable packaging parts from recycled and recyclable material. They are used, for example, for single use for the packaging and transport of form unstable products, such as moist and liquid and fatty form unstable foods such as cheese slices, meat products or bulk materials such as tomatoes, peppers, nuts. A rigid shape-stabilizing layer gives the package good mechanical configurational stability so that the package can be easily distributed and handled.
Much of these disposable packages are made by thermoforming from a plastic laminate having a stiffening paper / paperboard form-stabilizing layer and an outer grease or liquid-tight layer (the inner layer in a finished packaging container) of thermoformable plastic from food approved polyolefins such as polyethylene or polypropylene. These polyolefins have excellent liquid barrier properties, do not emit plasticizers, and are useful for preserving the taste of the packaged foods.
Die Kunststoffschicht ist dabei normalerweise Polyethylen (PE).An important group of these recyclable packages with a shape-stabilizing layer of paper or paperboard and outer, liquid-tight coatings with plastic is produced with metal foil on both sides of the shape-stabilizing layer. The plastic layer is usually polyethylene (PE).
The composition of such packaging laminates to give the packaged product the best possible protection, while they should be easy to manufacture and easy to handle and easy to dispose of.
PE oder auch PP haben als Innenschicht gut dokumentierte überlegene Eigenschaften in direktem Kontakt mit Lebensmitteln, und auch überlegene Thermosiegelfähigkeit.PE or also PP have as inner layer well-documented superior properties in direct contact with food, as well as superior thermo-sealability.
As a result, a liquid-absorbing, shape-stabilizing layer, such as cardboard, can be protected against the ingress of moisture and liquid and, if appropriate, a further polyolefin film can be sealed. Ingress of moisture would otherwise quickly weaken the shape-stabilizing layer, thus making the package unsightly and unusable.
Ethylen-Vinyl-Alkohol (EVOH), Polyvinylalkohol (PVOH), Polyamide und Polyester, wie Polyethylenterephthalat (PET).In order to provide or supplement a packaging laminate having barrier properties against gases or light, it is known in the art to provide various types of barrier layers between the shape-stabilizing layer and the outer plastic coating of the packaging material. For example. For example, aluminum foil (aluminum foil) or a polymer barrier layer which has superior gas barrier properties (especially for oxygen and also flavor) are provided. Suitable barrier layers are, for example, ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH), polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyamides and polyesters, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
Containers of such a laminated packaging material are often made by thermoforming, for example deep drawing or folding. The material can also be designed as wrapping or wrapping paper. Thermoforming is a common method in which an intermittently moving web of the packaging laminate is heated in one area and thereafter converted by means of cooperating forming tools into packaging containers such as cups, dishes or the like.
Packaging units can be sealed, for example, by welding the polyolefin layers.
These paper laminates are relatively complex and environmentally harmful compositions and can be improved in the age of environmental compatibility. Since the materials used have petroleum-based hydrocarbon polymers and metal foils, they are only with great effort from long distances transported and then refined with high energy expenditure and cracked oil with a poor carbon balance produced.
The object of the invention is to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art.
The object is achieved according to the invention by a packaging laminate according to claim 1. Preferred embodiments of the packaging laminate according to the molded parts thereof.
According to the invention, a packaging laminate with a low carbon footprint compared with the known techniques for the production of packaging containers is now provided, which can easily be permanently shaped, for example thermoformed or folded.
A dimensionally stable packaging laminate having a shape-stabilizing layer and at least one bio-polyolefin outer layer is provided in which at least one outer layer comprises a food-grade bio-polyolefin.
In a preferred embodiment, the packaging laminate comprises an outer layer consisting essentially of a bio-olefin selected from the group consisting of bio-polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymers, and mixtures thereof.
Thus, it is extremely advantageous from an environmental balance point of view if the polyolefin polymer layers consist of biologically produced polyethylene or polypropylene.
The shape-stabilizing layer consists essentially of an inelastically deformable fiber material of natural origin, such as plant fibers, such as wood fibers, paper, cardboard, fabric remnants, which has a stabilizing effect and which supports extremely thin, sticky and limp polymer film layers.
In the case of oxidation-sensitive materials, it is favorable if the packaging laminate has a gas barrier layer selected from ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH), polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyamide, PET between the outer polyolefin layer (s) and the shape-stabilizing layer. In addition to the polyolefin layer, a barrier layer may be provided between the outer polyolefin layer and the shape-stabilizing layer.
Often, the gas barrier layer is bonded to the adjacent layers by means of an adhesive.
The laminate can be used like coated paper, in larger thicknesses but also for packaging containers. In this case, the advantage of good printability of paper / wood fiber materials is achieved because polyolefins are very difficult to print with most conventional food safe colors.
A molded packaging container according to the invention is obtained from the packaging laminate by thermoforming or folding. The packaging container can be used as a tray, tray or the like. For form unstable food. To protect them, the packaging laminate can be sealed with a polyolefin-containing food-grade packaging film. Advantageous are multilayer films of PP or PE with cellophane, Starch films and similar film-forming biopolymers.
Such a packaging material is extremely environmentally friendly, consists to more than 60% of renewable resources; can be produced with a very good carbon balance and can be biodegraded for the most part.
- – Herstellen thermoplastischen Bio-Olefins aus natürlichen Quellen; Polymerisation desselben zu Bio-Polyolefin und Herstellen einer Folie daraus;
- – Herstellen eines inelastisch verformbaren Fasermaterials im wesentlichen aus Pflanzenfasern und/oder Pflanzenfaserstoffresten;
- – Ausbilden einer Polyolefinfolie;
- - producing thermoplastic bio-olefin from natural sources; Polymerizing same to bio-polyolefin and producing a film thereof;
- - Producing an inelastically deformable fiber material substantially from plant fibers and / or plant pulp residues;
- - forming a polyolefin film;
- Laminating the shape-stabilizing fiber material with the polyolefin film by means of an adhesive, and
- - Forming of the sheet-like composite thus produced by thermoforming or flattening to produce a dimensionally stable geometry.
In this case, it is also possible to use a polymer gas barrier layer and to provide the gas barrier layer on one of the polyolefin films.
The shape-stabilizing layer according to the invention may consist essentially entirely of mechanically inelastically moldable fibrous material, such as paper / paperboard material of suitable packaging quality, as well as organically producible polyolefins and polymers.
The outer layer is essentially selected from a polymer consisting of a group consisting essentially of biologically produced polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymers and mixtures of these polymers (polyethylene, for example produced by the process of Fa Braskem, Brazil, from bioethanol). Preferably, the outer layer is a homopolymer of bio-polyethylene or bio-polypropylene, and more preferably bio-low density polyethylene (LDPE).
A thin layer of a harmless oxide such as SiOx may also be applied as a barrier layer by known deposition techniques known to those skilled in the art (e.g., in a vacuum) or in the form of a film. Gas barrier layers of oxides are well suited for folded packaging containers, but due to their lack of ductility, they are not suitable for deep-drawn packaging containers.
In order to achieve a well-integrated packaging laminate having superior adhesion or bonding between the various component layers, one or more adhesion layers may be interposed therebetween.
Of course, several polyolefin layers with functional intermediate layers such as moisture barrier layers, further gas barrier layers may be provided.
It is also advantageous on the material according to the invention that it can safely be utilized thermally on site in its starting chemical constituents, CO2 and water, the CO2 released in this way being used again for hydrocarbon production and thus fulfilling the conditions of a closed-loop economy, since the formed Products can be converted back into plastics. A removal or separation of the individual components of the material is therefore unnecessary. This choice of materials creates a packaging material that has a very small carbon footprint and does not pollute the environment in waste. Nevertheless, it meets the requirements for liquid and possibly also gas-tightness.
Ionomere.Examples of such adhesive polymers are copolymers of olefins and (meth) acrylic acid, maleic anhydride-modified polyolefins, so-called ionomers.
The packaging laminate according to the invention can, for example, be formed by thermoforming or folding and also thermosealing devices run through. Such packaging materials have superior properties in human contact, for example, for solid and semi-solid foods, such as cheese, jellies, puddings. They can be sealed with Polyolefindeckfolien, which may also be formed peelable.
Darin zeigt: The invention will now be explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments are shown schematically. It shows:
It should be noted that the specific choice of laminates and packaging containers in the figures are only examples. Many other alternatives are apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, and various modifications and variations can be made by adding more material layers, such as intervening bonding or laminated layers to meet the requirements, without departing from the inventive concept is defined in the appended claims.

The inner layer is preferably applied to the shape-stabilizing layer prior to extrusion forming.
From the foregoing description it can be seen that the invention solves the problem with simple means and creates an environmentally friendly packaging laminate for the production of packaging containers. These have superior properties in the packaging of solid and semi-solid foods, can be easily disposed of or recycled and have a very good CO2 balance.
Finally, the invention realizes environmentally friendly deep-drawn or folded packaging containers with possibly barrier properties to oxygen gas.
However, the "packaging material" according to the invention can also be used for temporary dwellings, trade fair stands, disposable furniture and the like. Like. Be used - depending on the strength and nature of the shape-stabilizing layer. It is harmless to health, has a low weight and can be safely disposed of thermal recovery or be separated into fiber material and olefinic material. It can be, for example, corrugated, (like corrugated board), which gives it stability against buckling stresses and, for example, as well makes temporary roof replacement usable. It is particularly favorable that it can be recycled at any time safely in a furnace of thermal utilization without health burden of the environment by harmful degradation products.
A composite of 300 gsm paper, 20 micrometer bio-polyethylene; 100 gsm paper, 20 micrometer polyethylene, 10 micrometer EVOH and 20 micrometer PE film are laminated together. The composite is well sealable with a per se known PE / cellophane film to produce a dense package with a high content of renewable resources.
Although the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, the specific methods and systems described are only illustrative of possible applications of the principle of the invention. Various modifications as will be apparent to those skilled in the art may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention and its scope.
