Description
The invention relates to a structural and / or body component for a motor vehicle with improved crash properties and corrosion protection, produced by thermoforming and press hardening according to the features of
In motor vehicle construction, the requirement profile for vehicle safety is increasing due to legal and manufacturer-specific specifications. At the same time, motor vehicle manufacturers are endeavoring to lower motor vehicle bodies in the course of minimizing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in their own weight. This represents a discrepancy between low dead weight and high bending and torsional rigidity and high crash safety.
One way is, for example, the use of light metal materials, in particular of aluminum alloys, or else bodies in hybrid construction, for example of metallic alloys and fiber composites or plastics. However, both variants mentioned above each require high material costs, which in turn drives up production costs, especially of volume models in motor vehicle construction.
However, as before, a metallic alloy, in particular steel material, the preferred material for bodywork, especially the body shop. Through consistent further development, the steel material continues to be regarded today as a high-tech material, which forms a good compromise between favorable producibility, good crash safety and longevity through a wide variety of process options.
A heat treatment usually takes place according to the prior art in a temperature range between 820 degrees Celsius and 1000 degrees Celsius and hardly changes the material properties set in the thermoforming and press hardening process with their strength values. At the same time, however, the ductility of the material is increased such that in the event of a crash good wrinkling is possible. However, the additional post heat treatment, in turn, requires a higher production cost.
A disadvantage of the aforementioned prior art is also that the heat treatment must be carried out under protective gas, and the components must subsequently be laboriously blasted from further processing, and additionally protected from corrosion by transporting to the bodywork assembly by oiling or coating.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a structural and body component for a motor vehicle which, compared to the prior art, has lower production costs, while at the same time achieving precise setting of component properties for improved crash and corrosion behavior.
This object is achieved by the invention with the features of
According to the invention, a structural and / or body component is proposed for a motor vehicle, which is produced by thermoforming and press hardening a Blechplatinenzuschnitt provided with a coating, the structural and body component having at least two structural areas of different strength and / or ductility after press hardening. It is characteristic that a first region of the component has a substantially martensitic structure, and compared to the first region, a second region provided with lower strength and / or higher ductility has a substantially bainitic structure. It is thereby achieved that the component can be designed in regions for individual loads, in particular crash loads, without over-dimensioning these on the one hand and on the other hand to perform them easily. For example, ductile areas of components in vehicle construction with a yield strength of, for example, 300 to 500 N / mm 2 have positive properties with regard to deformation behavior, tendency to crack and reworkability.
Mit steigendem Anteil weiterer Gefügebestandteile sinken also diese Kennwerte ab.In addition to martensite, the first area after press-hardening may comprise further structural constituents in addition to martensite further structural constituents of less than 50 percent by weight, preferably less than 30 percent by weight and in particular less than 15 percent by weight percent by weight. Martensite, the most important microstructure constituent in the first part of the component, ensures high strength, yield strength and hardness. As the proportion of other structural constituents increases, these characteristic values therefore decrease.
Preferably, after the press-hardening, bainite and / or ferrite are present as further structural constituents of the first region. Starting from a completely martensitic structure, strengths of more than 1300 N / mm 2 are reproducibly achieved in series production, while a proportion of only 70% by weight of martensite and 30% by weight of bainite and ferrite results in a strength in the range of 1000 to 1200 MPa leads.
Particularly preferably, after the press-hardening, the first region has a strength of more than 1100 N / mm 2 , preferably more than 1300 N / mm 2 . As a result, a very small material thickness can be selected, and nevertheless a high sufficient rigidity of the crash-loaded component can be ensured. An intrusion of the component or an accident object in the vehicle interior, in particular in the passenger compartment is as far as possible prevented, and reduces the vehicle weight and energy and fuel consumption and emissions.
According to the invention, in the second area after press-hardening, besides bainite, further microstructural constituents may be present with less than 50%, preferably less than 30%, in particular less than 15% and very particularly less than 5%. Thus, in addition to bainite, residual austenite and / or ferrite and / or perlite are present after press-hardening as further structural components. The other ingredients increase strength and reduce ductility in the second range. Thus, a component according to the invention has a strength of about 450 to 550 N / mm 2 at a ductility of about 80% by weight bainite, 20% by weight retained austenite and ferrite in a second region with a ductility A50 of about 12% ,
In the context of the invention, the structural and / or body component after press hardening in a second region has a yield strength between 250 and 800 N / mm 2 , preferably between 300 and 500 N / mm 2 , wherein different second regions may be formed with different yield strength , For example, a second region can be formed at the edge of the component or around a draft with a yield strength of 500 N / mm 2 and further second regions which have openings or bends and have a yield strength of only 350 N / mm 3 . Thus, it is possible within the scope of the invention to design a second region in such a way that it has a tensile strength of between 500 and 1000 N / mm 2 , preferably between 550 and 800 N / mm 2 , after press-hardening.
Preferably, after press-hardening, the component has a second region with a yield strength A 50 between 10% and 30%, preferably between 12% and 20% and in particular between 12% and 16%. By adjusting the process parameters, in particular the heating temperature, the cooling start temperature and the cooling speed, the microstructure can be adjusted, these parameters being set locally differently in order to produce the first and various second regions in the microstructure.
In one development of the invention, the component has at least one second region, which is punctiform, preferably with a diameter of less than 40 mm, in particular less than 20 mm and particularly preferably less than 10 mm. Such a second region can in practice serve to introduce or to change the openings on the component after the press-hardening of the component, for example in the form of a passage. The passage itself, for example, collar-like can be formed as a hole edge change and otherwise often prevents occurring at the edge of the hole microcracks, or corrosion nests, which spread dynamically over the component life.
Of course, instead of a round punctiform area, an angular, in particular rectangular, area can be made more ductile in this way, for example also in order to be able to realize cable bushings or assembly access openings.
It is also possible according to the invention that at least one second area is only partially surrounded by the first area, in particular in the edge of the structural and / or body component. This has the advantage that the edge, which is still to be cut after press-hardening, is easier to remove or requires less cutting resistance and thus lower tool wear and punching force. In addition, the formation of corrosion nests on hard-cut areas of the component is prevented in practice.
In an advantageous development of the invention, the second regions are formed where the structural and / or body component is subjected to particularly strong deformations in the event of a crash and / or crash energy is to be dissipated by deformations. In the case of a component absorbing axial force, for example, which is intended to dissipate energy in the event of a crash by targeted compression or folding, this can be done in such a way that a plurality of second regions are linearly arranged along the desired subsequent folding and substantially perpendicular to the direction of force introduction, serving as nominal folding zones ,
In the case of a vehicle B-pillar, by contrast, the second area will advantageously be used in the lower third of the column, since this area is less responsible for the power transmission than for the connection and the energy dissipation in the event of a side impact. At the same time, the area is the most vulnerable to cracking, which is almost ruled out by the increased ductility.
In a development of the invention, the second region has an increased wall thickness in relation to the first region. This can be necessary and useful if at the same time high component strength and high ductility are required be, for example, structural and / or body component, which also serve a protective function against bombardment and / or blasting. The soft second region is thus compensated for its resistance to such stress by a higher material thickness, while retaining the advantages. For the production of the structural and / or body construction, it has proved to be particularly advantageous to use a sheet metal blank with a variable sheet thickness profile, in particular Tailor Welded Blank or a Tailor Rolled Blank.
A further aspect of the invention relates to the possibility of providing a structural and body component which is designed as a patchwork and comprises at least one reinforcing sheet which is connected at least in sections to the structural and body component. The connection can already be made before a common forming of Blechplatinenzuschnitt and reinforcing sheet, but it is also conceivable to separate the parts after forming again and only then finally to connect, for example, at least partially produce sealing and / or adhesive layer.

An essential aspect of the invention relates to the metallic precoating of the starting material for the structural and / or body component according to the invention.
In a first embodiment, it is a layer consisting essentially of zinc, which is formed directly on the base material. Due to the thermoforming and press-hardening, in particular by the heat treatment required before forming, the shape of the coating changes to the effect that diffusion and superficial oxidation processes take place which lead to a multilayer structure being formed on the finished component. An intermetallic layer is formed between the base material and the zinc layer, while a zinc oxide layer is formed on the surface of the zinc layer. The intermetallic layer is formed by the diffusion of zinc atoms into the matrix of the base material and of iron into the zinc layer. The greater the temperature, the greater the interdiffusion and thus the layer thickness of this alloy layer. Optimal decarburization and corrosion protection can be achieved.
In a second embodiment, the metallic precoat is a layer of essentially aluminum and amounts of silicon of not more than 15% and not less than 3% and further elements having a total content of less than 5%. The low admixture of silicon results in a lower melting point, which is more advantageous for the coating process, and a reduction in the abrasion during handling of the sheet metal blank blank and during hot forming.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the metallic precoating of the structural and / or body component is multi-layered, and comprises a base layer and a cover layer. Preferably, the base layer contains at least 30% aluminum and at least 20% iron and at least 3% silicon and at most 30% zinc, the cover layer comprises at least 60% zinc, at least 5% aluminum and at most 10% iron. Thus, an even better corrosion protection effect is achieved, and the risk of microcracking due to the diffusion of zinc from the coating in the base material, in particular at Beschknkanten is reduced. The layer thickness of the cover layer is preferably greater than that of the base layer, preferably more than 60% of the total layer thickness.
The metallic precoating of the described embodiments has a total thickness between 5 and 45 μm on both sides. For economic reasons, a thickness of not more than 33 .mu.m has been found to be particularly useful.
The invention and its embodiments will be explained in more detail below with reference to figures.

A second possible embodiment is shown with the cooling curve according to curve V2 of the second area. The cooling curve of the curve V2 follows analogously to the cooling curve of the curve V1, wherein from a time Z2 (Z1 equal) the cooling temperature is kept longer, so that the press hardening process begins at a time P2. Consequently, the time period t2 is greater than t1. The microstructure in the second region has completely changed into bainite at time P2 and thus does not undergo further microstructural transformation due to the cooling rate after time P2. In the third exemplary embodiment for producing a structural and body component according to the invention, a cooling rate is selected from a temperature above the AC3 temperature according to curve V3, so that the intermediate cooling is directly converted into the bainitic intermediate structure during the cooling process. In this case, an austenitic-bainitic intermediate structure was set in the second region, so that at the onset of the press hardening process at time P3, this bainitic-austenitic mixed structure is converted into a bainitic-martensitic mixed structure in the second region. In examples for the execution according to curves V2 and V3, in each case the first region, which is kept above the AC3 temperature during the intermediate cooling, is converted directly into martensite by a cooling during the press hardening process from the austenitic region. In the embodiment according to curve V3, the speed according to the invention is always chosen to be greater than the lower critical cooling rate uK of the respective material used.
In the context of the invention, small proportions of further microstructure constituents may also be present in the finished component, resulting from the fact that the cooling process leaves the limits of the lower critical cooling rate and thus briefly traverses the ferrite and / or pearlite region, so that small fractions thereof in the Structure of the second area of the component are located. In practice, this can be achieved by slowing or retarding the rapid cooling in the mold, by only partial tool contact or partially heated and cooled tools or by different tool materials with zones of different thermal conductivity. It is also possible that an exact isothermal holding in the bainite region is undesirable or, for example, not possible with certain component geometries. Depending on the set holding temperature, this can also lead to low levels of martensite or ferrite and / or perlite occurring as further constituents of the structure in the second area.
