Durch das über die Rollfeder beaufschlagte Vorschubteil werden die Waren zu dem an der Entnahmestelle angeordneten Festlager gedrückt. Wird aus dem zwischen dem Festlagerteil und dem Vorschubteil angeordneten Warenstapel Ware entnommen, drückt das Vorschubteil den Reststapel wieder nach vorne, so dass die Restware immer an der Entnahmestelle zur Verfügung steht. Die Rollfeder weist üblicherweise ein mit dem Festlager fest verbundenes erstes Ende und ein in dem Vorschubteil zum Ein- und Ausziehen der Rollfeder beweglich angeordnetes zweites freies Ende auf. Um zu verhindern, dass das innerhalb des Vorschubteils angeordnete freie Ende der Rollfeder aus dem Vorschubteil herausgezogen wird und dabei u.U. den Anwender verletzt, müssen auf der Rollfeder entweder Warnhinweise zur Kennzeichnung der maximalen Auszugslänge angebracht werden oder an der Rollfeder müssen gesonderte Maßnahmen zur Verhinderung eines Austritts des Federendes aus dem Vorschubteil getroffen werden.
