Abstract

The variable height flight of steps (1) has two side frames (2,3). A hinge (9) at the top connects the rear frames to a platform (10). The front edges of the steps are curved downward and engage large diameter pins (24) extending between the front frames. Small diameter pins (23) extend between the rear frames and support clips on the undersides of the steps. Sawtooth arrangements (12,13) at the bottom of the side frames engage support pins (14,15) on a lower landing (16).
