Abstract

A star design IC engine has three radial vanes (A, B, C) mounted on a central axis and moving reciprocally. One vane (B) moves between two fixed radial walls fitted with pressure activated air inlet valves (V2, V3) symmetrically positioned and forming two inlet chambers. A fuel injector (E) is centrally placed and supplies the two inlet chambers alternately. The fuel/air mixture passes into the combustion chambers, between the other two movable vanes and the fixed walls, via pressure activated valves (V1, V2) in the fixed walls. The burnt gasses are expelled via exhaust slots (A1, A2) in the outlet chamber, formed between two other two movable vanes. The reciprocating movement of the vanes is transferred to a flywheel by a crank drive.
