Abstract

A rotor drive for generating power from wind or water/wave flow has rotors (9) with radial vanes mounted in a support frame (4, 5) and held between the free ends of a fixed frame (6) symmetrically positioned about a central drive shaft (1). The top of the movable frame has a gear train (10, 14, 15, 16) and a flow monitoring drive (12) which adjusts the setting of the rotor to follow changes in flow direction. The bottom end of the drive shaft is extended (7) to couple directly to a generator. The system can be turned through 90 deg. for placing in water flow.
