In Fig. 1 sieht man vereinfacht ein Geländer 10 mit einem Horizontalabschnitt 12 und einem Treppenabschnitt 14. Beide Abschnitte 12 und 14 werden jeweils von Rahmen 16 bzw. 18 gebildet, in die die erfindungsgemäßen Geländerstäbe 20 eingesetzt sind. Die Rahmen 16 und 18 werden von sich seitlich anschließenden Stützen 22 über kurze horizontale Verbindungsstücke 24 gehalten. Die Stützen 22 sind am Untergrund in nicht dargestellter Weise befestigt. Im dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel wird der Untergrund von einem horizontalen Bodenabschnitt 26 und einem sich in Fig. 1 rechts anschließenden Treppenabschnitt 28 gebildet. Von den dargestellten insgesamt drei Stützen 22a, 22b und 22c sind zwei (22a und 22b) am horizontalen Bodenabschnitt 26 befestigt und die dritte Stütze (22c) auf einer Stufe des Treppenabschnitts 28. An ihren oberen Enden tragen die Stützen 22 einen Handlauf 30. Im Horizontalabschnitt des Geländers 10 verläuft der Handlauf 30 dementsprechend horizontal, um nach einem Knick im Treppenabschnitt entsprechend der Treppensteigung geneigt zu verlaufen.
